Will The Mother Bird Accept the wrong I brought?
I got a comment saying I should feed the bird a worm so I set off to look around the house underneath the rocks and stones to see if I could find a worm. After a while I only found some crickets and a red wasp that almost stung me, but after lifting about 10 more rocks I found a worm I could give her. I brought it to the nest and left it to see if she would accept the delivery!!

If you keep messing with the nest and letting the heat out by opening the box, the baby is going to die. From an avid chicken owner and hatcher (same rules apply to wild as to domesticated birds, if momma laid and hatched em, you don't touch em. They'll die).
First off you don't have to be so rude secondly he picked an egg up once and thirdly it is an open mail box as you can see

The heat is kept in by the fact that there are 3 walls; when you open another wall, you're letting out a significant amount of heat. And lastly, love, you're not supposed to touch wild bird eggs because if the momma smells human on the eggs, she'll abandon the nest. The same goes with putting anything into her nest at all. You run the risk of her saying, "I don't like it," and leaving 'em to die.

If the parents decide the nest site is too unsafe, they'll leave.

Please... Please... Stop bothering the nest. Don't do anything at all. Let the bird do their thing. These birds don't need any human intervention. The more you constantly check on the nest, the more it is likely for the mama bird to abandon the nest.

You need to leave the mail box alone, the more you mess with it the more chance the mother bird will abandon the nest. This should be common sense to you.

@@BIGFeathersFarmplease contact any wildlife experts or animal control in your area and ask them about this. Clearly something is wrong here if there's still only one hatchling. I don't think anyone would tell you that putting the chicken egg in there was a good idea.
Generally speaking, you should never mess with wildlife. That bird doesn't need your help and you're probably stressing her out and making everything harder for her. Just leave her and her nest alone. The content and clout is NOT WORTH being the reason that four of these eggs didn't hatch!

Yea scent thing is a wives tale to keep little kids from touching them. It’s gotten so bad in our society that often people let birds die on the ground cause they are too scared to pick up a nest and put the babies back.

Here’s a quote from the Forest Preserve District Willcounty “Similarly, birds will not abandon their nests if humans touch the eggs. Some birds may build a new nest if the original was disturbed by a predator, possibly damaging the eggs, but human touch is not enough to drive a mother bird away…”
