    Very inspiring! I'm just starting out my "zwift journey", so lot of PRs to go after and a lot of different rides to try out

      That's excellent. There was already loads to do when I started Zwift a few years ago, but it's just got bigger and better. Hope you'll really enjoy it.

    So many beans, Lee. Favorite part was the way you pulled it together during that small pseudo-crisis on that flattish part where you’re surrounded by snow walls. Great, great job. Another well-deserved triumph from all your hard work these last months

      Thanks Thomas 👊 Definitely a bit of a crisis. I was running out of power there, and I knew it. Massive congrats to you for your effort. Incredible time and power. A well deserved return to black A status.

    Top, top work, getting that PR, Lee! 👊 🎉 Great fun riding with you and the KCM team up the Alpe! 💪 🚲 🚲 🚲 To quote you, “Noice!” 😉

      Riding with you? You were just blazing away up ahead of me the entire time! Amazing result by you, Simon. Couldn't be more impressed with that. You'd even said you didn't think you'd get a sub-50 time, and yet you absolutely smashed it! 👊💪

      @@lee-cycling thank you, Lee! Yep, was aiming to break 53 so was a bit surprised to see the time at the end 😉 👊

    2 points I’d like to make. Firstly, awesome effort young Lee, and an amazing time for the ADZ. Secondly, damn you Cassidy!!! I was very happy with my time of 50:50, but it now looks a bit shabby to say the least. I may have to give it another try now, but I think that your time may be beyond me. Well done fella. Old Andy

      Lol thanks Andy 👊 The trip up it in a couple of weeks will be the perfect time for revenge. I reckon you'll be able to beat this and drop me in one fell swoop!

    Just managed it? LOL! You kicked your butt!! Awesome stuff... amazing time mate. What a machine.

      Thanks mate. 👊 Was flagging at the end, so definitely felt like just about managing. It was great having you on the Discord for a bit, too. I didn't talk because my mic seems to be pretty awful. But it was cool to have you along.

      @@lee-cycling I dropped in just before going to bed... I was a bit out of it so didn't say much. Next time I'll be a bit more supportive! Maybe I'll join you and you can give me a 20 minute head start :D

    ADZ videos are like buses... You wait (and pray) for for one for ages and then two come along...
    Fantastic effort Lee. Sub 50 minutes is awesome. Great to see you pass Rob (even with a cold). Looked like a really fun event!

      😆 Thanks Ryan. I think I'd have taken a bus from turn 7. Always feel the power draining there.
      It was a great event. Would have been excellent to have you along for it. You should sign up to Rob's Discord where we organise them.

      Thanks Joe. You fellas are doing a different sport to me. Just nuts that you ate up that time gap. I think I'll skip the Alpe for a while, too. Need to get some easy volume in before FRR, I think.

    Excellent....Which bike and rims would you prefer? I switch between Madone and Emonda, are their better bikes to use?

    • @lee-cycling
      @lee-cycling  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      For the Alpe (or Ven-Top ), go with the lightest frame and wheelset you have. The lightest frame is the Specialized Aethos, and the lightest wheels are either the Meilenstein Lightweights or the Roval Alpinist CLX. But if you don't have access to those, you should use ZwifterBikes.web.app It will tell you what the fastest set up you can get at your current level/drops amount.

      @@lee-cycling thanks...I might be able to beat my 78 min record on day with this tip.

  • @mrm95
    @mrm95 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Nice ride! The main issue with riding the Alpe fast is keeping the power consistent because the gradient varies so much. So a small tip for your next attempt if you like: the bends are much shallower then the rest, so I've found standing up and riding 2-3 gears harder prior to a bend and then sitting down during the bend to keep the power up before shifting to easier gears once the gradient picks up again very helpful in maintaining target W/kg goals. When you rewatch your attempt here you will see your power dipping on every bend costing you valuable seconds each time. Good luck and all the best! 😊

    • @lee-cycling
      @lee-cycling  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you, mate 👊 The thing with the corners is, they're quite a bit shallower, so you get less payoff for power. Easing off a little for a second or two on them costs very little, and I can invest that energy where it gets more return.

    • @mrm95
      @mrm95 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@lee-cycling I understand the sentiment, but think of it as a 40-50 min. TT. There is no easing off. You want to ride as consistently as possible.
      Of course, it's up to you to decide if the couple of seconds of recovery are worth the trade off in time lost. Not sure there is a perfect answer there, but I think your time will be quicker without the recovery + dip in power.

    When you’re riding these on zwift does it increase the, I guess I’ll say resistance, automatically as the grade gets steeper? On a wahoo?

    • @lee-cycling
      @lee-cycling  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@realAmpereD The answer is "mostly yes". There are smart trainers and non-smart trainers. Most of the trainers you see where you take the rear wheel off your bike, like the Wahoo Kickr or Elite Direto XR, are smart trainers, and Zwift controls it and adjusts the resistance to simulate the grade you're riding on. You can also buy "smart bikes", like the Wahoo Kickr Bike, Wahoo Shift Bike, or the Stages SB1. You can use Zwift with spin bikes, like you see in gyms, but they mostly won't adjust the resistance, which I think takes away part of the immersion of the experience. They're also notorious for giving inaccurate power readings.

    • @realAmpereD
      @realAmpereD หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@lee-cycling Thanks, I just got a wahoo kickr core and set it up last night. I still need to set it up in the app and decide on rouvy and zwift, hence the question. I was under the assumption you still shifted which is why I got the cassette version, but I also ordered the cog with the click shifting capability. Yes, I am a little impulsive, I really should have read more first but all my buddies love it so I figured I would just get the package.
      Thanks!

    • @lee-cycling
      @lee-cycling  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @realAmpereD you still need to shift, so you haven't wasted money. The only time you don't shift is if you do erg mode workouts, where the trainer will adjust the resistance to match a certain power and cadence, or if you turn off the gradient simulation, which makes everything like a flat road. Otherwise, either regular cassette or Zwift Cog both still require you to shift. Just like in the real world, you choose a gear that allows you to spin at a cadence that's comfortable for you.

  • @pimdemuts5012
    @pimdemuts5012 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Try getting your cadence above 80, it is much easier on the legs. Anyways great effort!
