My late father was a Guardsman,in the Coldstream Regiment. On his death, some 30-odd years after he'd left a wreath appeared at his funeral shaped in the Regimental badge.A rather nice touch I thought.
People don't seem to understand that the surprising and unexpected part is the fact that the Dr Who theme is not at all a brass arrangement so it's unusual to hear it done by a band like this.
@@MKR5210 Except I think tea with Paddington Bear, and a revelation of what is in the Queen’s handbag topped James Bond. Although I thought the best bit was the Queen and Paddington tapping in the beginning of We Will Rock You.
@@iraqsometimessunnisometime6120 Duchess Kate already is a princess technically but her princess title would be Princess William (ie princess by marriage not by birth). So she uses her Duchess title which she holds in her own name. Another example of wife-princess is Princess Michael of Kent, who is the wife of Prince Michael of Kent. Michael is the younger brother of the Duke of Kent and does not use an alternative title, thus his wife is known as Princess Michael.
This reminds me alot of an award ceremony I attended at Buckingham Palace Gardens, where one of the Royal bands started playing Imperial March. It was damn cool.
They should use this version for a new doctor who episode. Great I never underestimate the British they reinvented Rock n Roll back in the 60s Beatles Stones Who Kinks Animals etc. Of anyone doesn't know them go look them up.
Unexpected? They are British guards playing the theme song from a huge British show for the British queen who was probably a fan since the first episode....... That's not unexpected. In fact I'd be more surprised if they didn't play that song!
It might surprise you to know is was an Australian who wrote the Dr Who theme music... In 1963, it was one of the first electronic music signature tunes for television.
Ron Grainer, who also wrote the themes for, amongst others, The Prisoner and Steptoe and Son. Delia Derbyshire, who realized Ron's writing, in the first - some say the only - version of the theme, said of Ron that "He had beautiful ears".
@@daveofyorkshire301 Teresa meant that aussies with surbames like Grainer are probably descended from Brit ancestors, maybe, to count as "distant brit"? But you are not wrong to say Australian: Grainer and Grainger wrote iconic british tunes: Dr Who and English Country Garden.
Not only is Doctor Who a national treasure, he’s an intergalactic treasure, so it’s hardly surprising that his adopted home country on his adopted home planet play this in honour of him/her/it. I heard similar played whilst visiting the planet that you earthlings catchily refer to as HD209458 b. It was unusual, but nowhere near as good as this Guards Regiment’s version though.
Since they're selecting some cool, beloved, non-traditionally-military music, may I humble suggest Thge Imperail March from Star wArs? Taht would have a massive awesome effect!
Imperial, Empire, British, is what he was referring to. Yes Star Wars isn't British, though a large number of the actors were. Notice the Imperials all had British accents? Imperial march would've been funny.

I played on my trombone for my grade 4 exam
It works very well
I don't even know what it is. Never heard it before, but it sounds fine.
I couldn't recognise it
Brilliant arrangement of what has always been a purely electronic piece. I love it!
The Queen is a fan of Doctor Who, after all! Epic!
Nothing would surprise me about our Liz after the James Bond Olympic helicopter parachute jump.
No Olympic opening ceremony will ever top that one ❤️
She's been around since forever... and nobody suspects her being a Timelord???

What would make this even better is a platoon of cybermen walking out of the gates :)
They played the theme tune from the movie "The Great Escape" on the day Princess Kate gave birth to Prince George :)
Duchess kate
Princess whom? 😀
someone's a huge Kate fan 😂
She Will be a princess soon enough though

This sounds powerful and strong,..love it.
Doctor Who should be considered a British National treasure. And guess what I'm American, so thank for probably the greatest show ever made....
Doctor Who 'was' a national treasure.
It used to be, now it's just the plaything of up and coming diversity hires
Dr Woke now.
But the tune was written by an Australian - Ron Grainer
This is very beautiful for these amazing people to be playing such wonderful music lol
She is a whovian, she even had a cameo in an episode! The Christmas Special on the space Titanic. It was really her! or so I heard... XP
Book Inklings I'm fairly sure it wasn't here in Voyage Of The Damned
@@oliver_burnell8684 The Queen was at Buckingham Palace in Voyage of the Damned. But she was seen here, at Windsor Castle, in Silver Nemesis (1988)

Why the dislikes? I wish they would play that outside my castle.
I'd like for them to play outside my castle, but it sank in the swamp.
So exciting and so much talent!
Guess Theremins aren't very portable. I like this a lot!

The only BBC director not to receive a Knighthood was the one that cancelled Dr. Who, so it's safe to say Her Majesty is a fan.
But it's not a brass arrangement - it's one of the earliest commonly heard pieces of electronic music.
Whose a right grumpy bollocks ?!!!

I used to work in St James's park in the 70s would often hear pop songs including Beatles hits drifting through the trees from Buckingham palace
Talent at its best ✌️🇬🇧
Bro why does the Doctor Who theme go so fucking hard in brass band?
Amazing tune.
Excellent!!! Love it!! 😍👏🏆🏆🏆
That theme tune would make a fantastic national anthem..
My life is complete!!!
your favourite 🌹
My God I'm proud to be British 🇬🇧
This is fantastic!
OMG... this is so epic!
This is so awesome!
End of tom baker era onwards to be specific on which Doctor who theme they are playing
I can die happy now.
I love your channel keep up the great stuff!!
Doctor who is really big in the UK. I didn't know that.
Really? It was created in the UK, of course it's big. It's huge. And it shows how badass we British are if the royal guard are playing the theme tune.
Since the 60s..lol
I heard that the Queen is Whovian and her favourite doctor is 9th
very talented group :)

Brilliant....the Dr Who theme tune xx
Ahh, the Queen has excellent taste! :)
Her favourite song is ABBA’s dancing Queen and there is a video of the guards playing it.
My brains just blew off! Fantastic!
God, I want to move to London...
Windsor Castle! Look it up.
I'm in awe ...
So, I guess the Doctor has been un-banned from Great Britain ;)
Love it!!!

I still expect the Tardis to materialise at the end.

Sounds like the theme of the "Fall of the Troll King".
This is great...
brilliant!
Nice middle 8
Amazing!!!!!!:3
doctor who ftw! from america
Dr. Who is a British tv show. It's not "unexpected". It's like if our Army or Marine band suddenly decided to play the theme from Mission: Impossible.
I thought it might be the Thunderbirds theme.
Mean while in Britain...
lolololol, *dances to theme*
The queens a Whovian? o-o YES
Dammit! Now I wanna be English! (more so than before)
I Fucking love docter who its my favoret show here in the U.S
this would be good if they played it on the march
hey they can move
Right who gave the band the wrong sheet music!
They were produced in England
@BronxFifer This isn't dubbed, they do this all the time!
How-how did i even get here?! xD
Wow!!!
Why no commissioned officer conducting?
What regiment is the guards on the dark uniform at the front?
Brilliant about time the military played modern music and moved with the times.again brilliant.
Allon-zy!
maybe the doctor was visiting the queen that day?
So much awesome! I can't- cx
It's not timey whimey!
This should be the British anthem.
I was expecting Souza's Liberty Bell March, but ok
I don't know that tune.
Eh. This is okay. There's way to much going on in this composition though.
Didn't recognise it.
