    😊 Anya was so tiny when she arrived, and it's awful what happened to her Mum! I think it's a blessing that she was so tiny and unable to understand the tragic death of her Mother. Anya, Josephine, and Abu are three of my personal favorites this Season. I adore all of the monkeys but those 3 just have awesome little, funny personalities ❤!

      Primates aren't pets. These babies don't remain babies for long, either. They grow into adult monkeys with large canine teeth. In order to take care of a baby vervet, it would have to be torn away from its own kind and that's a terrible experience for the baby vervet, or for any monkey for that matter. Please think about this.

    Would we be right by adopting a baby monkey that has been abandoned or treated badly by their mothers?
    And would it be better to adopt two instead of just one so they wouldn't get lonely?
    They are so darn cute. I hate to see them getting abused. Or their moms just abandoning them when they are so young and need them for food and protection.

    • @VervetMonkey
      @VervetMonkey  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Adopting a baby monkey that seems to be abandoned or treated badly by their mothers is not the answer, as your definition of treated badly and that of the monkeys are complete different, you cannot measure it against the up bringing of a human primate . While it is understandable to want to help an animal in need, adopting is not the answer, a monkey is only a baby for 1 year and then its no longer a baby so you actually adopting a full grown monkey that comes with significant challenges and responsibilities.
      Firstly, it is important to note that in many places, it is illegal to keep monkeys as pets. Even in places where it is legal, it is not advisable due to the fact that monkeys are social animals and require a complex social structure to thrive. Keeping a monkey as a pet can lead to numerous welfare issues, including psychological stress and social isolation.
      Furthermore, even if you are able to provide a suitable home for a monkey, it is important to consider the impact that taking a wild animal from its natural habitat can have on the local ecosystem. Monkeys play an important role in their ecosystems, and removing them can have cascading effects on the environment.
      Lastly, it is important to consider the long-term commitment of caring for a monkey. Monkeys can live for up to 40 years of which they can be considered a baby for only 1, they require specialized care, including a specific diet and regular veterinary check-ups. Adopting a monkey is a significant responsibility and requires a significant amount of time, effort, and resources.
      In summary, while it may be tempting to adopt a baby monkey that has been abandoned or mistreated, it is not a decision that should be taken lightly. There are many challenges and responsibilities that come with caring for a wild animal, and it is important to consider the welfare of the animal, the impact on the environment, and the long-term commitment required

      Hi Amy! We don't know each other (my name is Jennifer), but I've seen you here a bunch of times and only recently saw you talk about your cancer. My late husband had cancer, so I understand from the outside how bad things can get. I'm really sorry to hear about this and about your co-pay situation. Financially messing with you at a time like this is just plain cruel, in my opinion.
      Anyway, I just wanted to introduce myself and say hi. I see how much you love watching these monkeys, like I do! They really help on a physical and emotional level.
