    Hi there, Sara.
    I, personally, can confirm that the Hobonichi Original A6 is absolutely perfect for memory keeping. I've been using the avec version since July and it's been a blast. Never thought I would actually do some daily journaling, but I've been using it every day since I started it. There's something about sitting down at the end of a day and reflecting on everything that happened, sticking photos in there and basically having a diary filled with all the memories of your days. It's a perfect addition for me to become an archivist of my own life. 10/10 would recommend. 🖤

    2023 is my first ever year in a Hobonichi - and I picked up the Year of the Rabbit Bows and Ties to give it a try. It has been, after a decade of trying different planners, the first time I’ve ever stuck to paper planning and journaling.
    Hobonichi had really changed my life and how I plan - and I’m so excited to continue that in 2024. I ordered that blank gingham weeks, and the botanical HON, as well as a tonne of accessory and one of the drawer pouches for when I travel.
    I’m so excited for what next year will bring!!!

    OH MY GOSH the secret line is so annoying at 6 spaces! It's also darker in the weeks than in the cousin. I'm moving from the weeks to the Traveler's Company notebooks (plus the monthly insert) because I want more space and that invisible line annoys me so gd much 😆

    • @untitled_paintings
      @untitled_paintings  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m glad I’m not the only one who doesn’t like it ahah, it’s not that annoying but I feel like I just don’t know how to use that space because I’ve never used margins before🥲
      The tn weeks + monthly insert sounds like a lovely setup and I hope you enjoy it!

    • @gracesarus
      @gracesarus ปีที่แล้ว

      Ugh I feel the same! I want to use it to put days of the week but it confuses me when I go down my task list. I tried to make a darker line but it just looks weird. I’d love it if they could move it one space over 😢😂

    I’m using the Take A Note A5 for 2024, I’ve been using it a good chunk of 2023 already so I know I enjoy it.
    If I go back to college next fall I’ll probably grab an extra weekly like planner- either weeks or a undated travelers notebook insert. When in school I need aloooot more space for assignments

    • @untitled_paintings
      @untitled_paintings  ปีที่แล้ว

      I hadn't heard of their planners yet! And I feel you about the extra planner - I do most of my uni planning digitally because I end up moving things around so much, but if I were to do it in a notebook it would take up sooo much space ahah

    Thank you for sharing your planning and lineup for 2024, I picked up some great tips on how I want to refine my pages for next year. I also track my food due to having lots of long term health conditions and as a mental health coach I also recommend to my clients with long term health, to track food, mood, pain - as it after eating what do your feel and where do you feel it in your body. Sometimes the best indicator on which foods you are more sensitive to will come from tracking your symptoms. Sometimes weather and other stresses play a factor so I am starting to track those too on daily pages. Good luck with your 2024 planner lineup an I wish you the best of health. ❤️‍🩹🎊🙏🏽

      It’s really interesting to hear what you track as well and I’m curious to see if I can spot patterns for myself - also hadn’t thought about weather! Might need to add that to my tracker too🤔🥰

    I decided to go with the weeks for 2024. My brain just has to see the whole week in front of me. I wouldn't be able to function with a page or two per day. I was ready to go for muted color or just plain black when I saw all the kittens, hahahh. I think my heart is set on the black one you talked about. It's subtle enough and…it has cat on it. I will definitely separate my personal and work-related journal. Maybe some things will overlap, but I don't want my work tasks and reminders staring at me all the time. It would just get too messy and stressful. I'm still not sure about my life journal, as I call it. It has to have thicker pages because I use a lot of ephemera in it. I have 2022 and 2023 in one notebook. It's huge and I can't even close it, so I guess 2024 will have to get it's own journal. From July I have been using passport-size notebooks for my travels and trips. I really like that, but then I also do have to transfer it to my life journal. Guess with weeks I'll probably transfer some highlights in it too. I've been journaling since uni, but just last year started with memory keeping. Probably the best decision ever. My memory is not that great and I find that writing and spending extra time processing things make them last a bit longer in my memory and of course, journal keeps them safe. It can sometimes get stressful and I start to overthink things aesthetically, but I know it doesn't matter as long as I can look back on it and remember the things I have probably forgotten.

    • @untitled_paintings
      @untitled_paintings  ปีที่แล้ว

      I feel you about needing to see the whole week together! A page per day definitely doesn’t work for me either planning-wise, but I think it will be nice for memory keeping.
      Also, I agree on what you said about writing things down: I too find it helps with remembering them, and knowing they’re kept safe somewhere I can revisit in case I can’t remember is incredibly comforting.
      The cat one is sooo cute, I hope you have a great time using it next year!🌟

    Thanks for this video. I know that I want to journal in 2024 and I've been watching TH-cam all weekend trying to decide what I want to use. I think I want the hobonichi weeks in a traveler's journal so I can keep subjects separate. Yours was the first video I found that really helped solidify my choice. And showed the different sized items in the cover. One question - will you keep your HON separate or will it also fit in? Because now you've thrown some extra decisions in there 😂

    • @untitled_paintings
      @untitled_paintings  ปีที่แล้ว

      That's so lovely to hear and I hope you have the best time journaling next year!
      The HON will most definitely not fit in the cover: it's quite thick, so it barely fits on the TN cover on its own (obviously with a lot of eccess at the top and bottom because they're just two entirely different formats). I don't really mind it as I feel like with the hard cover and the cover on cover it will be protected enough for me to carry around when needed, but I don't plan on bringing it with me on the daily anyways, so it will be more of a home memory book!

    I thought I had 2024 figured out which uses alot of hobonichis. However, over the last few weeks I feel my system is needing change. So I’m not sure what I’ll be using.

    • @untitled_paintings
      @untitled_paintings  ปีที่แล้ว

      Ah yes, because the notebooks are usually about 64 pages each it’s easy to go through them quickly which and be great because you get a lot of fresh starts, but also it’s annoying if you need to keep referencing things in older books.
      I hope you can figure out a system that works well for you!

  • @maiir

    this was such an interesting watch! i can't wait to see how you use the a6 format (and i know i will be living vicariously through you and everyone else getting the tomitaro makino hon and/or the hiroko kubota weeks)! despite loving several of the weeks and hon designs i'm going to stick with my tried and true system of a hobonichi a6 original for planning/memory keeping/journaling/collecting ephemera plus a standard tn for commonplacing :-)

    • @untitled_paintings
      @untitled_paintings  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I am veeeery excited to start using it so thank you!👀
      Honestly you’re making the smartest decision, it’s so easy to want all the cute notebooks but ultimately a system needs to be functional for your life, not just aesthetically pleasing! I actually considered the original for a while but I wouldn’t have wanted to also get a cover for it so the hon felt fitting in my case🥰

    we got the same weeks cover! im also not a huge fan of the design, but its fine as a make do! im waiting until the april spring release for a new one (my brain thinks in seasons) and im just going to cover the numbers for january and february. im using the notes pages as a commonplace until then (i hope i have enough space, if i dont, i'll get the set of weeks memo books), but when spring hits i'll be getting a plain hobonichi book as my commonplace, though i'll miss the taller and thinner format. i have a separate midori b6 slim for more memory keeping/pretty journalling and i cant see that changing any time soon!

    • @untitled_paintings
      @untitled_paintings  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Aaa glad I’m not the only one - it’s such a beautiful fabric but a bit overwhelming and so I just find myself ignoring it😢it will be nice to move into a weeks I actually love. Also, on the topic of ‘my brain thinks in seasons’ I would jump on a September start weeks because for me that’s when the new year starts ahah
      Your setup plan sounds lovely and I hope you get on well with it! Changing commonplace format might also be interesting and inspiring in terms of the new layouts you can explore

    second comment sorry, i wonder if the hobonichi weeks mega might be good for you? it depends on how many pages you've gone through in the travellers notebooks. i think especially if you have a dedicated memory keeping book rather than using a commonplace for that?

    • @untitled_paintings
      @untitled_paintings  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      No worries! It’s a good suggestion and something I have thought about, however for me the cons outweight the pros at the moment: I’d be afraid to stick too much in because of the bulk (and I carry this around with me everywhere, so the slimmer I can keep it, the better), I actually don’t like/use the margin on the hobonichi weeks pages and I feel like it would get in the way of commonplacing and, most importantly, I’m finishing my fourth commonplace this year and they’re 64 pages each (so about 256 pages filled so far, with still four months left of the year🫠) so I don’t think I would have enough pages, especially considering how much smaller they are!
      Also, while having a bigger, dedicated memory keeping book might reduce my commonplace pages slightly, the amount of memory keeping I do in there is really quite minimal compared to everything else that goes inside it.
      I also just like moving onto a different commonplace every couple of months because it’s nice to start fresh🤔
      Sorry for the ramble! It’s something I thought about quite a bit and wanted to give a detailed explanation^^

      that makes a lot of sense! that definitely makes a lot of sense if you don't use the margins, i would definitely be annoyed by them in that case. the fresh starts make sense too, its always so fun to make small changes in a fresh notebook ^^
