    Tell me about your 1x conversion or experiences here in the comments! Am I going to hate the jumps in gearing coming from a 2x set up?

      I have just received a Praxis Zayante 48/32 and I am torn about keeping them or not. How have you found it?

      Great question! One of the main reasons I moved away from 2x is because I could not solve a frequent chain drop problem on my combo. If I had been able to solve that, I would've likely stayed 2x. The gear range wasn't great with 1x on an 11-40. Since I've moved to SRAM AXS XPLR with a 10-44 cassette, it's much better but that wasn't cheap. But if that isn't an option for you and your 2x works fine, I'd stick with it.

    I hope the 40T chain ring will work out for you. Thank you again for another great video!

      Thanks Adam. I’m confident the 40T cassette will provide enough clearance to shift smoothly.

    You can run a 46 cassette with a wolftooth roadlink. Check it out.

      Not with an Ultegra RX800 rear derailleur…

      @@JMCyclingVideos whoops sorry I was thinking (wrongly) that it was GRX. I stand corrected. Love your videos. Keep it up!

      @@lancescarborough1 I'm going to give an 11-40T cassette a shot with my RX RD. If I can't get good shifting out of that, a GRX 812 1x specific RD will be on order. I KNOW that one will work!!! Thanks for the kudos.

      My worry as a current 2x9 user is the jumps between the gears. Do you prefer 1x and why?

    I’m hoping I can upgrade from 42T to a 46T chainring upfront & change out my 11-42 to the e13 , 9-46 cassette on my shimano Slx derailleur. I would love all that range on my hybrid Sirrus X 5.0

      I can’t really comment on whether or not your RD will place nice with the e13 cassette but I can say that a 46/9 combo would be a MASSIVE gear. You’ll have a huge range with that. Good luck!

      I'm currently on a 48/32 and 32-11. I'm scared to try 1x due to loss of gears. What's your opinion?

    Been watching your conversion videos several times. Bit the bullet and ordered the parts to convert my road bike with Ultegra R8000 to 1x, will be installing GRX 812 derailleur with 46t wolftooth ring on the R8000 cranks and 11-36 SRAM cassette. *crossing my fingers*
    Question:
    How were you able to get the optimal chainline to be able to shift to all the gears without the chain dropping to other gears when backpedalling?

    • @JMCyclingVideos
      @JMCyclingVideos  ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven’t been, to be honest. I think that’s simply one of the drawbacks of having short chain stays and a 1x set up. SRAM AXS XPLR will jump gears at the ends of the cassette when backpedaling. Fortunately, this hasn’t been an issue during real use because I don’t find that I backpedal at all when riding.

    Why not get GRX RD-812???

      I already had the RX RD on the bike. Rather than spending more money, I decided to give it a go as is.

    I currently ride a specialized cirrus pro with a 2x9 and I like the gearing but I'm tempted buy a 1x. I have currently got a 48/32 and an 11-31 drive train. Could you convince me to change?

    • @JMCyclingVideos
      @JMCyclingVideos  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It has to work for you. You’d lose a lot of top end and not gain much low end. Do you ride gravel/off road mostly? If spend most of your time on the road, I’d stick with your 2x9.

      @@JMCyclingVideos I use it mostly for commuting in a relatively hilly area. I ride probably 50/50 ratio of road vs paths mixed with off road.
      My 48/32 works well but needs replacing.
      I am a sprinter.
      I also want to loose bike weight.
