I had the Sandalwood one from them which is brilliant, but after watching you lather the coconut i bought some and used it today and can safely say it's the best ive ever used of any brand. Class

Thanks for all of your awesome videos! I've been shaving with a Gilette Super Speed safety razor for a couple of years now. I had a bad experience with my first shave soap (the soap that they sell at Walmart), so I have used canned Barbasol since then. I started watching your videos a couple weeks ago. I ended up ordering some TOBS Lavender cream and a Omega 10049 brush from Amazon this morning. Wanted to get something that I could get Prime 2 day shipping on. Really looking forward to trying it. I also want to get some Catie's Bubbles Rose scented (can't remember the name of it) soap when I can afford it.

IMO You really don't need that much soap to create a very nice lather. I actually just take the damp brush and put it right in the container and brush it across the soap to get some on it. Works like a charm. Thanks for the video

If your brush is too wet or your water hard, you really run the risk of ruining(diluting) the cream.

I agree. I use a wet brush and lather on my face and I use a tiny amount of this (sandalwood scent) and it lathers up so thick and smells great. I saw the amount he loaded and was shocked. I use 1/20th that amount and get a very thick, slick shave.

The first time I used Taylor of old bond street shaving cream, I was tempted to throw out all of my other creams and soaps. I actually did trash the soaps. And I agree, this guy uses way, way too much. I soak the brush, shake it out, and just lightly swirl it in the tub once or twice, just enough to coat the tip of the brush. When you think you don’t have enough, that’s just about the right amount. The Taylor web site advises using “ a penny size amount”

UPS just delivered my Amazon order of this one, along with my Merkur #180 razor, Personna Blades, and Semogue 1250 boar hair brush. I really enjoyed the experience of shaving like this; much better than the old 5-blade cartridges and canned shaving gel. I do have to say that I am disappointed with the smell. I love coconut anything and was expecting something along the lines of Hawaiian Tropic. This didn't even come close and I really have to use my imagination to get any coconut smell at all. My wife even said it is a funky smell that she doesn't care for. I look forward to trying other brands that you have reviewed. Great review though!

I really love your videos, I'm from the UK & finding soaps & razor blades hard to find at local shops. But I do recommend shaving oil. The best one is King Of Shaves oil. Have you done a video yet of using oil?

Could you do a video where you compare the brushes you own? I have an Escali brush that has been shedding like crazy, and I've been thinking about buying an Omega brush, probably the 10049. Great videos, by the way.

This is, in my opinion, the best shaving cream out there. And you can get a new experience every time you buy a new jar, due to their wide range of different scents.
I have the avocado one at the moment, and I agree with you, it is not their best scent, smells more like cucumber to me, although it is still a quite good scent. Going to try the rose one next time, as it has been getting good reviews also.
By the way, you should really try Nanny's Silly Soap, and do a review fo those. It is soft handmade soaps from England, have a really good ingredient list. So sell for around 9-10 dollars for 3.5 oz.

I see I messed up the first drops of my TOBS cream. Used too little cream and too much water, should have used just moisture on my badger brush. Btw hot water might loosen up your brush's glue causing shedding and expansions of its bristles may crack it, warm water is just fine.

TOBS sandalwood (soap) is the only sandalwood I've tried and while I like it, it's a bit too sharp smelling for my taste. Sandalwood IMO, is more of a subdued, relaxing smell, the sharp edge goes contrary to that. But it's great on days I need to liven up. :)
    Thanks for a great review.

Dude that cream reminds me of Cool Whip in terms of lathering. Since I have sensitive skin, I try to avoid shaving products that have alot of perfumes and especially alcohol of any kind. This sold me on Taylor of Old Bond Street. The Jermyn Street Sensitive Skin formula is my next purchase.

    • @nickshaves

You may want to order TOB's new Organic Shaving Cream. It's unscented with aloe and jojoba. It's next on my list to try.

    • @knightmare1015
      @knightmare1015 10 ปีที่แล้ว

Larry Benjamin Thanks Larry, but after using many different formulas of TOBS, I've found that only the All Natural formula is the only one I like and it tends to dry out my skin in terms of post shave quality. I did like the scent of TOBS Jermyn Street. They're ok creams. Geo. F. Trumper is better, but I really can't afford their products. Right now I'm using Artisan made soaps such as HTGAM/Synergy soaps, RazoRock, and Tiki Bar soaps.

Hi. I love your your reviews, great stuff! (My wallet hates you, though). Have you tried the Mühle/Edwin Jagger Sandalwood? I find that the scent is not as intense as the TOBS, and has a much more natural and clean scent. Scent-wise, it's definitely a notch or two above TOBS in my opinion. Got some samples of the cream, and it performed wonderfully as well.

+Faroek Nasierkhan If you shave every day then probably around 6 months I guess. It is a fantastic cream. It won't last anywhere near as long as certain excellent shave soaps like Arko but this is much thicker and better stuff (and certainly much nicer smelling than the said Arko which smells like toilet cleaner).

    • @nathanieldaiken1064

No. Generally, the electric shaver must be a wet/dry variety in order to use shaving cream. Ummm Panasonic comes to mind, but I am sure there are other brands out there.

I just ordered some of their natural based cream which is preservative and fragrance free. Here's the link: www.westcoastshaving.com/Taylor-of-Old-Bond-Street-Shaving-Cream-Bowl-Natural_p_2559.html
I also ordered an Omega Boar Brush (best for bowl lathering) and some Proraso Pre & Post shave cream (green formula). I've gotten some killer shaves with the Pre & Post cream. Next month I'll be trying some Synergy/HTGAM shave soaps, Proraso's White formula shave stuff and a Merkur 37C slant which I'm told that I'll love.

Amazon runs out of grapefruit pretty easily, and now I know why. I would not recommend the lemon and lime, which is pretty underwhelming. I've been trying out TOBS and comparing it to Musgo Real's lime basil, a scent I love. TOBS has them hands down on the lather, but so far M.R.'s up on the scent.
