Gaps in Canadian Work Experience?

  • Gaps are acceptable in Canadian Experience Class.
CEC - have at least 1 year of skilled work experience in Canada, in the last 3 years before you apply.
This should be atleast 1560 hours over 12 months period. You can have multiple work period of full or part time + multiples NOC + multiple employers in order to meet this requirement.
As long as all NOCs are TEER 0,1,2 or 3 and are paid work periods.
For FSW it is mandatory to have 12 months - 1560hours of "continuous" work experience. This can have no gaps. Multiple employers are acceptable, but it should be 1 NOC only.
This is only for the eligibility period of work. Once you have the minimum continuous 12 month period, then you can have other several periods of work in different NOCs to combine the total work experience to claim additional points for CRS score.

Hi Kubeir. Your videos are amazing and real helpful for aspirants like us. Thankyou.
I have few clarifications wrt proof of work experience letter .
I have worked for two different companies and now working in the third company (all full time) wherein my previous employers are reluctant to provide the reference letter as per format required by IRCC although they would provide a reference letter mentioning name, roles & responsibilities, skillset with my immediate manager’s signature. However, the working hours details will not be included in this letter and hence I was planning to attach all other relevant documents such as my offer letter/appointment letter + recent compensation letter which shows the package and other salary benefits + payslips which shows the total amount drawn in each other.
Can you please check and let me know if this much information would suffice?

    Hi Sir..
The 12 months for FSW is considered from the date of work permit starts, or date of work permit application or from the date of joining the job? Hope you could clarify this..
Great job by the way with this channel!!!

Hi, if one had taken paid leave of abscence for a couple months within same job and employer, should them enter the experience from the actual start date till today as single entry or be multiple entries as before leave and after leave?

6 month internship of a master program and then permanent position with company for 6 more months , with the same position or higher is considered as 1 year experience for Federal skilled program express entry ? (I am awar this is not considered for CEC). It really helps a lot of people if you reply. Thanks a ton.

Hello Sir, a close friend has been issued work permit on 17 th August,2022 ( 01:00 am mid night ) on the basis of Lmia approved job offer, he visited his employer, work place on 17 th August morning only , understood work , area of working and others duties etc but requested him to give him some leaves to settle down properly so his pay period started from 1 st September ,2022 .
Now, the case is that the employer has given him reference letter stating that he has been working with him from 17 th August which he observed now and has already submitted to IRCC in Spouse open work permit file .
What would he fill in as date of starting work in express entry profile creation?
If it would be 1 st September ,2022 which he believe so , then there would be difference in date of joining mentioned by employer in the reference letter ( 17 th August,2022 ) and the express entry profile which says 1 September ,2022 ( actual pay period started ) . Pls advice . Thanks !

Hello Kubeir I am FSW Outland applicant, my experience is of 3 years; out of which 2 years have been in NOC 11202 as a Professional in Advertising and Marketing (Junior Role) and after switching job and taking managerial role in a new company it is now Marketing Manager (Manager Role) with NOC 10022. Since I have two NOCs, yet but both of them are related and due to growth and career the NOC has changed, so should I mention both NOCs? Or should I only mention one? Will this be a problem in my Express Entry Profile for having more than one NOC Code in my application. Looking forward to your kind and thoughtful response. Many thanks in advance.

What about maternity leave? I have completed my 1 year Canadian work ex. And my file is in express entry pool. What I mean is if my file doesn’t get picked up this year and I have to apply again with 2 years of experience, and that time, if I am on my maternity break, will that still be considered 2 years experience?

I worked as a nurse for over 5 years in my home country while lecturing in a nursing institution since i have had a master degree in public health, i relocated to the UK and worked as a nurse assistant/senior care assistant for 2 years and currently still working in this position. What noc code will i be able to use? Please answer me. Does multiple points still applies to this my situation ? Asking because there is Noc code for nurses and another one for care assistance. I'm confused which to use.
Also is there multiple column to fill the different Noc codes when applying for the Express entry?
Lastly, given the fact that the nurse experience is 2 years ago, will the noc code still applies for it?

    Hello -
If one received ITA during the 12th month of employment under CEC, could he/she accept the invitation upon completing 52 weeks with over 1560 hours? That is, MEC was not met at the time of ITA but certainly met by the time of submission. Appreciate your views if one should proceed or should decline the invitation? Many thanks.

Hello, does the contract work experience count towards 1 Year of experience eligibility?
I am currently working in Canada and I am working as a contract employee. My contract period is for 1 year, will this experience count towards the 1-year experience eligibility for the express entry or does it have to be an experience gained from permanent employment positions?

Hello sir, wanted to clarify- i have been working with this company from last 3 years as a manager and now company filed bankruptcy. I got another job after 2 weeks . So this 2 weeks gap in CEC will be accepted or no? Or there shouldn’t be any gap. This is not clear anywhere but cic says the experience doesn’t have to be continuous.
    Please advise
    Thank you
