出演叶文洁的是两位华裔演员：齐恩·曾（ Zine Tseng，年轻版）和赵家玲 （Rosalind Chao，中老年版）。齐恩·曾来自台湾，她去南加州大学（USC）就读电影系期间被推荐去参加了《3体》的试镜，成功拿到这个角色。这是她的银幕处女作。她在片中的表演非常有说服力，普通话也字正腔圆。齐恩·曾表示，即使出演的部分看起来是文革时期的中国，但其实也都是在伦敦拍摄的。她自己就是《三体》小说的忠实粉丝，第一次做演员就接到这个角色非常荣幸。她也曾尝试着看中国版本的剧集，但因为太长，没有能看完。
赵家玲则是美国加州出生的资深华裔演员，曾出演超过130部的美国电影、电视剧，包括人们熟悉的《喜福会》(The Joy Luck Club)、《花木兰》（Mulan）、《隐形怪杰》(Memories of On Invisible Man)，以及《南京》（(Nanking)等，也是中英文流利，且确实与齐恩·曾长相相似。赵家玲表示，虽然她没有看过原著，但直接被制片人邀请参与本剧，也没有试镜，很感激剧组的信任。

This is probably the 300th interview she did this day, answering the same questions.
she still has her student visa, studying at USC, barking on the floor and quacking like a duck in acting/drama class and now an up and coming Hollywood actress in a hit netflix series. The 'deer in the headlights' effect on her face prob. is still quite fresh on her face and body language. With that being said, I get that same 'robotic and awkward way' impression about Aubrey Plaza also, and she's been in the business for a longer while.
