Genau dasselbe Auto habe ich auch (in ShadowLine) und dasselbe Problem mit Türgriff vorne rechts!!! Also mein Freund, hast du super gut gemacht 👍 !!!🤝🍀
The inner part on mine snapped the other day. When I replaced it, I noticed that the front part of the outer handle was worn and looked like it wasn't sitting in far enough. I put a self-tapper in there and it pulled it home, seems to be holding up.. Jobs a goodn 👍 If you keep making E53 videos I'll keep an eye on them as I seem to be working on mine all the time. Allways handy to have a bit of a reference before doing a job. Cheers!
Thank you Rob for your kind reply, these X5 E53 door handles are notorious for breaking as they open up the way, I’ll be doing more X5 videos in the near future, if you need any help or advice happy to help!, Best regards B.
@@Brucecarmaintence71 No worries.. I've just replaced my glow plugs. stopped smoking on cold start for a week, and now it's chugging on cold mornings again. So manifold off once more to do the glow plug control module!?
The tapped screw will not last because you need to drill out too much material in the post and the post will eventually split. I just tapped a thread onto the post and put a washer and suitable nut on it. There isn't much thread poking through so make the thread as fine as possible. Cheers.
@@Brucecarmaintence71 Thanks Bruce. Good info but I suppose the screw is a small diameter. Mine has chewed the locating tangs on the forward post so I will give it a try. Small diameter drill though. Cheers from OZ.
@@Yosemite_Sam it was an exterior tight hinge screw with a washer I used, so it is tight in the back of the handle, which of course is plastic, I done this repair before and it honestly held that handle on My last X5 for years, just an awkward design from BMW as you know you have to pull the handle up to open the door and folk try to force them outwards, anyway I hope you get it sorted Fella, best wishes from Scotland 🏴 to Australia 🇦🇺 😎👍🏻.
had similar issue with mine (also from scotland). anyway, it wouldnt open from outside but opened from inside, tried a new catch like the one in the video but turned out to be the door lock mechanism I needed which now works
Yes, really bad for breaking, sometimes you can get away with this quick fix with the washer, but the internal mechanism are prone for breaking, all the best.

@@rob_erto never ending on E53 X5’s!, all the best Rob!, hope you get it sorted out.
Had the same problem yesterday during a carrier replacement and arrived at the same solution.
Hi, thank you for you comment, glad you got it sorted, the plastic part of the inner handle are bad for wearing.
Great idea👍👏

Hi, I’ve done the same repair on My last BMW X5 and it lasted the 4 years I owned the car 👍🏻😎.
