Say the f x Maverick does not come from the factory with the regulator set like they need to be
So i bought a used FX Maverick from UA today. The salesman was very knowledgeable and he confirmed my suspicions about FX air rifles. It’s simple people! When you buy your FX Air Rifle from UA ask them to tune it for FX hybrid pellets for that given caliber. That’s all you need. There is no need to experiment with all sorts of slugs or pellets. If you want a slugger do the exact same. Tell them the caliber and barrel length for whichever FX rifle you’re buying they will tell you the ideal slug for that air rifle. It’s set it and forget it. No matter what these TH-cam personalities tell you there is no need to fiddle with experimenting with all those different slugs as it’s already been figured out. For example you want an FX impact in 30 caliber with the slug power kit and a 600mm barrel. They will suggest the best slug for you with this setup. And tune it for you. Set it and forget it people.
2 regulators may end up being a standard feature for FX guns...maybe? Wouldn’t that be something if we see this technology across the entire airgun industry soon. Very consistent numbers...impressive! Thank you for explaining. Most informative. God bless.

Thanks for explaining the dual reg set up I'm in to custom moding air gun gave me a lot of ideas 🤔 your the first person I have seen to explain how the gun is designed and go through the pass. Great video Keith and Norm thank you for doing this one on the Maverick this is perfect timing because I got my new Maverick VP in 22 caliber and I picked up the slug power kit and I wanted get it turned in for shooting crows and woodchucks I'm going to be playing smack down on some pest. I put the bigger hammer and the heavier spring and huma transfer port with the adjustable probe that pushes my .301 slugs in my 800mm barrel on my maverick . 30 sniper 10 shots is 1.5 S.D. and 4 E.S. I also had all the parts that I installed custom polished and lubricated before I installed them and the polishing made an impressive difference in extreme spread and standard deviation

Hi Guys I got hooked on your hunting videos, and went off the deep end and bought the 22cal Maverick sniper!
Thanks for the video clarification on the dual reg set up! The manual leaves out a lot of detail
My first time adjusting the tuning, I blew out one of the 2 O-rings on the tiny adjustment screw.
I admit, this is my first FX and I was a little eager to soup it up. Needless to say none of the videos talk about those small and "very fragile" O-rings.
BTW, for other nubies, the Maverick requiers 4 of those little "N" O-rings, and they are super easy to damage! I bought a 10 pack from Captain O-ring (who was super quick and friendly).
Now for my question. How are you getting those velocities, (937) w 30 cal 44 gr pellets? I can only get my 22 cal. to shoot the 26 grain Javalins, and similar at around 835fps. Some guys are taking about getting 960fps with the 26 javelins. I can get sub 20 grain pellets and slugs to shoot over 940. Also my first reg maxes out at 180 and it takes forever to get the second to level off at 150.
Been trying to find a willing dairy farmer to give me permission to exterminate starlings, but they seem harder to convince out here in Oregon! I'm 0-2 so far. But ended up Being with both for a good 10 minutes, so I know I'm at least in the ball park.

Is the Maverick going to change the way you guys shoot compared with the Impact? Velocity differences? Are slugs the same or less powerful? At $500 Cdn less and easier tuning...Hmmm🤔🤔 Still has changeable calibers. More thinking needed. Thanks guys for taking time for this.

Alot of people don't understand why they see a larger ES and SD over a long shot string. Because just 2 different velocities in a very low and very high speed, can throw off everything. Even if they were the only 2 shots over 100 total shots.

Thanks again guys. I decided to buy the Maverick Compact in .22 a friend was selling and needed this info. The gun still has the factory tune which is ok for now but slugs are going to be the round of choice.

Did you make the switch to slugs? How is the maverick working out for you? Just asking as I'm considering buying for rabbits and similar small game is areas where 22 rimfire ricochets are a bigger risk. The guy in the shop recommended not tweaking it, but it's configured for pellets and he suggested slugs are expensive by the time you blow through a lot to get it setup. I take it all with a grain of salt, but they are technical air rifle experts (not necessarily hunting experts). Welcome any feedback.
@@kiwicam6419 I did setup my Maverick for slugs which is fairly easy and my gun loves slugs. I added a heavier hammer and rotated the barrel to the slug port side which is easy to do. Once everything is done I set my regs to 180 for first and 150 for second then you can adjust the power wheel to fine tune your rig. I think mine is shooting around 870 fps and getting 54 fpe from the short barrel, longer barrels get higher velocities and higher fpe. Mine is a .22 and I have been shooting Zan slugs I can't remember which weight and I can't check the weight because I'm in the hospital. I hope this helps.
@@FollowingGhost Appreciate the details. I can only get the 22 sniper (supply chain issues) but I think that's perfect for me to supplement a rimfire. Great you've had a positive experience with slugs. I'm a bit concerned about the weight, how it hangs in the hand with pistol grip and that there are no sling mounts making it less than ideal when walking around farms for 3hrs or more with my other hand full. I'm looking at options to connect a sling to the rail, but also reconsidering different options. I need to check what options the RTI Prophet/Priest has too. Cheers

Eddie, on your Maverick, were you able to duplicate the results or come close, upping your final reg to 150bar? Did you need the 2 hammer spacers as well?

@@fishing4happiness610 well first of all its your choice to get such a short setup in the first place, but we're all entitled to opinions right? As for tuning an FX or any other pcp for that matter requires to first take a hard look at what you're going to do with it and using it for. Straight outta the box you can shoot pellets on factory setting and on power wheel setting #4. Or 3. Depends on the caliber size. So first you need to know what caliber you want for a specific usage. Next if your thinking about using ANY slugz in one, you need to purchase the aftermarket slug kit from the company or from a ligit air rifle selling outfit. Reason is because you have to tune it for high power for any slugz you use period. And you'll need to purchase any other upgrades (not sure how many) youd have to ask, because you're changing the rifle from factory to a varmint killing machine or super long distances. My super long distances are anything beyond 60yrds. As for me, I do pesting on 14 big farms. When I need distance or a specic usage I just use the next size up caliber and leave the air rifles alone pretty much because of voiding warranties by factory. I have a wide variety of calibers many from 177 all the way through 82 caliber air rifles so....

There's more to it than just adjusting the first reg also you creep up with your second reg pressure and then adjust your hammer to get the best out. Then back to the reg and repeat , the hammer again. To get best efficiency and quieter gun etc

Personally i prefer the sniper
we love long range shooting. so we usually lean towards longer barrels. but that being said. we still shoot these compacts out to 250 yards

Trying to learn from you but it’s not working out well on my end. Just not letting air into the regulator. I actually damaged the 2nd regulator because no air will go back into it.

I have a Maverick 25. built-in power kit with hammer 15 g and heavy slug liner. I want to shoot slugs from 36 grains, so I'm asking how much I should set the first and how much the second regulator.

Just caught this video & posted it to my gun group. One thing I like to ask is between the Mavericks would the Compact or the Sniper version be good for around 60-yard shots, also I see the FX slugs are also out so off & on I may be shooting these also. This is going to be my go-to gun for Iguanas when in residential areas. I come to you most Knowagable one for my knowage.☺☺☺☺☺
Lolol. For sixty yards the compact will do it no problem at all. Not sure on slugs yet. Be testing those soon! But for sure the sniper shoots slugs amazing

Hey Keith how would the stock be for a left handed shooter such as myself would the mag get in the way. I installed a left handed Saber cheek riser on my Impact MKII and it works great.
I think that gets in the way bud. Try to hold one or a wildcat bc they are the same rear block almost

Hey guys I have a question on use o-ring on your liner, do you use them? I have ordered a few liners and none of them come with o-ring. I don't like having to remove them to put on a different liner when I want to switch liners. Is it FX being cheap or are they suppose to come with the liner? Should I not bother with them?
Some people dont use them. I do. I swap them from the old liner to the new. If i wanted more i mean its like a dollar from the hardware store. They arent a special material you can just get the right size and then you dont have to swap them anymore. I like three evenly spaced, but i cant say thats based on science. Its just what seems right to me
