What I love about this (and the same thing happens on Curb) is that if the situation was flipped, a 7-minute subplot about the evils of stealing someone else's candy bar would turn into a 7-minute subplot about how the other guy has no right to question the universal standard of a bonus drop belonging to whoever happened to get it.

Several years ago, I saw a colleague ahead of me at the vending machine. I saw him order some bag of chips, or popcorn--I can't remember--and the machine caused his purchase to dangle. After considering what to do for a few moments, he gave up and walked away disappointed. I went back to my office, got some extra change, bought the one I wanted (some candy bar) and the one he wanted, getting two bags of chips. I then walked to his office to give his chips to him, but his door was locked, and he was gone. I propped his bag of chips on his doorknob for him to find when he got back. Not what you'd see in a Seinfeld episode. I never did find out if he got it. I can only hope.

(I also didn't carry a lot of extra cash, so I was going to have to go back to him empty-handed AND owing him money.) Every time I am with anyone in a store and we pass the Twix candy bars I always make it a point to say “there’s the Twix…the only candy with the cookie crunch!” My wife and kids think I am crazy.

Here George is in the best comic tradition of the hysterical guy who gets more hysterical and nuts with each passing incident, doing crazier and crazier things, accusing everyone under the sun, until he just explodes. Absolutely brilliant.
Wow, I still remember this episode like it was yesterday! I was about 5 when it reran on Fox, and I was laughing hysterically seeing a grown man make such a bug deal about a candy bar!
This show is an exercise between making the other characters as terrible a person as George while keeping George firmly placed on the "worst person" on the show and I can't get enough of it. I love that Jerry Seinfeld had the opportunity to write himself and his friends as wonderful people with quirky personalities and instead decided to make them all people you'd avoid like the plague in real life.
Well this was a worthwhile use of George's time and energy. The rule of the vending machine is if your snack gets caught, stay there and watch it because if the next person buys the same snack and gets two then it's their gain. Well some folks shake the machine, but apparently that's dangerous.
To this day I still associate Twix with George. I can't help but wonder where he got the other Twix. He might have gone to a convenience store. One might wonder why he didn't just get something to eat there or just buy one Twix and eat it. Then again, this is George. Guess he should have stuck with doing the opposite
My guess is George had enough cash on hand to either get ten Twix bars for the candy lineup, or nine Twix bars for the lineup and one Twix for themself. The integrity of the lineup came first.
I like how ever since that early episode where George lost his job at the real estate firm, it seems as though he's been progressively losing his mind.
The fact he could've bought a different candy bar in the first place, as he bought several more for the candy line up, shoes just how petty George really is.

Even tho vending machines take cards nowadays, so we’ve gotten past that “spitting back the bill” frustration, the item getting stuck thing STILL happens.
In our vending machines if it doesn't sense something was dropped it spins a 2nd or even 3rd time until something drops! So you actually want it to get stuck, cuz then you get 2!
