I think Phar Lap is truly one of the greatest horses ever. I can’t keep a dry eye every time I see the movie and I just watch the documentary and of course it brought tears to my eyes. Someone left a comment that horses are treated so much better now, in the racing world ,than they were back then. …They weren’t cared for as well or trained as well. It would be amazing to know how he would do under today’s conditions. The same goes for Manowar. It would be wonderful to see a race with Phar Lap, Manowar, Seabiscuit and Secretariat. And I think Tommy Woodcock was a great strapper and trainer. Just listening to his voice in the documentary was so comforting.. he was a kind man ,you could tell. Horses always perform better with the one that takes care of them the most, this being Tommy Woodcock.

The Agua Caliente was also his first race on dirt, which would have seemingly given the American horses an advantage but he did it easily. Legend

Phar Lap (4 October 1926 - 5 April 1932) was a champion New Zealand-bred Thoroughbred racehorse who is widely regarded as New Zealand's greatest racehorse ever. Achieving incredible success during his distinguished career

Phar lap truly was a amazing horse . On Animal x they have a video about what might have killed him and I think it had something to do with the vet . He had a slight temperature and the vet came to treat him . And I think a person that hated this poor horse made a bet with him . Poor Phar lap

….. also, it is easy to imagine that he was poisoned because people were losing so much money due to his exceptional success. He was embarrassing the Americans and their great champions and they didn’t want him around. Also the Victoria racing commission was so and
unjust in assigning him so much weight. I think weighting horses, just because they are fast, is criminal. And that goes for this country too. I know that weighting is just to improve the odds or to even the odds but that’s not fair because the horse is not being able to perform as he would if he wasn’t weighted heavily. It’s all about greed in horses end up being exploited.

Phar Lap surely had a larger than average heart, but the heart featured in this item was NOT Phar Lap's. It came from a draught horse. This has been established beyond doubt by scientific analysis. Fakery is not required to support the fascinating story of a great racehorse.
