Andy Weir is a really great author. His book, The Martian, became a bestseller without any help from a traditional publisher. With a list of 3,000 subscribers, Andy launched the book to his true fans...but that's not the entire story. In fact, Andy Weir worked for two solid years to make writing a reality, only to be met with disappointment when he wasn't able to break into the industry.
What separated Andy's story from every other tale of woe is that Andy kept writing and kept listening to his growing readership to find what he should focus on and improve. Then a happy turn of events launched him into an unexpected stardom.
