Why is she not in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame?!? Never even nominated but of all the people being nominated few have had as long a career Cher’s nor one as legendary

I think Cher did an excellent cover of this song. Her vocal range fit the song remarkably well. Someone on this thread said it was Marc Cohn's favorite rendition of his song. That's high praise, and Cher deserved it!

Cher is a timeless treasure, and her beat just goes on and on and on. She began recording in 1963 and is still going strong in 2023! Can't wait to hear the new album she is working on.

@@PoppedAndFlopped Sorry, but I have to disagree with you. Marcs is a little richer, a little more playful in points to lead to the soulful and gospel sounds that created the classic.
By comparison, it feels like Cher liked the song and relies heavily on her powerful contralto to carry the song through, but it comes off as a little one-dimensional in comparison. She's still very good here, but Marc's touches in places hers don't. Maybe it's because of the autobiographical nature where he's singing about what he experienced, where she's emoting what it could feel like.

I usually don't care for covers but this is cool. Love Cher. My mom raised me on her music. By the way Marc Cohn wrote this great song & even won a Best New Artist at 1992 Grammys.
