If you watched proleague back in the day you would know who he was. A good, but not the ace player for his team. Career > 50% win rate in all 3 matchups. Had a couple 2nds, and a handful of top 4/8 star league finishes.
Zergs normally make guardians as a surprise assault in the midgame. Problem is guardians are never a surprise, they take too long and the muta preasure feels a little different. Using guardians to "guard" worked out here. Instead of building them across the map and just donating them, he defended w them, then marched them across for the killing blow. Nice.
Yep the name describes how Blizzard originally intended them to be used..to guard. The problem guardians usually have is the marines can just stim under them and kill em all..but on this map there was terrain for them to float over, and the terran went siege tanks making the guardians that much stronger.
i really feel like most players drastically misuse Guardians. the basically _donating_ them strat that you mentioned is _very_ bad, i agree and, yes, they are very good at doing this specifically. Artosis also mentions in the vid a Guardian/Hydra all-in and this can actually be VERY strong. it's so strong in fact that before Brood War was released, this was the *main* composition Zerg played with against Terran _in general,_ not even as an all-in, mixing in some Defilers from time to time. it especially worked so well pre-BW because Marines didnt have Medics to support them (so Guardians were guaranteed to 2-shot them if they were equal on attack with Marine armor), and Goliaths didn't have their air range upgrade. it is *deceptively* strong. not proleague-tier strong, but it's definitely VERY strong. Guardians are *very* good when they have _something_ strong enough to back them up and cover their air weakness, and Hydras are the perfect option to do both at the same time, especially since they are so cheap. if you are a Zerg struggling somewhere in the middle of the ladder or below, i definitely recommend it against Terran. give it a shot and see if it works out for you.
Wow, a guardian defense and it worked. Not many players succeed in doing so because Guardian can be killed easily by any anti units. But very great in spreading up those Zerg units including late Ultralisks. I love this game!
I feel like when Iris saw the 6 sunkens and tons of tech, that would be a signal to back off the aggression and double-expand. There was a big chunk of time when the zerg had no offensive options, and so counter-greed would've worked really well.
I absolutely hate playing with guardians coz of the upfront cost (Greater Spire, mutalisk 100 minerals and vespene each and then still more time and resources to evolve) and because how slow and squishy they are, but gotta say that was one of the best defences with guardians I've seen. Not sure if it was worth it, not sure if it made sense if IriS transitioned into mech earlier and just countered ultras with vulture mines, but it worked here.
Do you think Starcraft players would compete in a tournament where folks play Street Fighter 3rd Strike until top 4, then play the rest of the tournament in Brood War?
it is "hh" in korean alphabet ㅎㅎ is the same key as gg without the alternating key, that change the latin alphabet to the korean one, on the korean layout on windows, etc.
Good morning pooptosis :D Man it's your replay you can pause it if you want haha. The impatient ADHD's can just skip ahead if they forgot to take their eggs of the stove

Did you say bunker rush? Thanks for the spoiler. 😅
@@YoungGandalf2325No, it's consistent with the caster's race gameplay.
That itradiated ultra killing plagued marines without attacking them is hilarious
When I saw the Terran irradiate the ultra, I couldn't help but mutter that he was going to come to regret that decision quickly
Artosis was too busy babbling to focus on the engagement sadly.
*players who are far better than me in every aspect of the game*
Me - an intellectual “Greater spire into ultralisks… what was he thinking”
I like watching these lesser-known players and the nontraditional builds they use. You never know what to expect.
Iris is extremely well known, at least back in the mid 2000s. There were just so many exceptional terrans from his time.

that ultra speed upgrade hitting at 14:30 while the ultras were chasing down the bio army was sick
at 14:43 when the irradiated ultra kills all those plagued marines while running into them was funny too
@@beauknows93 that whole segment was great i saw someone post about it later down in the comments
such a good game all around

Pretty sure this is a recent thing that Soulkey has been doing, both in ASL and in proleague
It's easier to be successful when the T spends his gas on tanks, so you don't lose 2 guardians every minute to irradiate...

Guardians used defensively for that 3rd location was actually pretty genius
On the last frame of the replay, you can see that marine armor loses its color in their death animation
Every time I hear "Berserker" I think of the guy singing in Clerks
Iris was a CJ team member in Korean star league back in the day
Wow, a guardian defense and it worked. Not many players succeed in doing so because Guardian can be killed easily by any anti units. But very great in spreading up those Zerg units including late Ultralisks. I love this game!
this is the first time in my life I see guardians actually used to guard and not to lay siege
thanks a lot for your castings

Wow! Good game. Great commentary
Best Guardian play I've seen, brilliant
Outstanding cast! 💯
Happy Sunday. If you made it this far then you made it another week. Fight on!
crazy zerg has to be one of the most entertaining things to watch
There was no crazy zerg in this game lol
Iris damn he still plays. Very nostalgic!

Man, I love watching good Zerg players.
Fuck ya Artosis casts time baby. Lets go
Ty for upload
It feels like he could've gone dedicated sky zerg, quick armor ultras or defiler and held that push either way. Instead he did all three.
Yeees, more Guardians!!
What a strange set of tech choices by both players
Let's see Iris vs ZeloT - who can be more crazily aggressive.
Muta micro vs marine micro. One slip up in build and its all over.
Do you think Starcraft players would compete in a tournament where folks play Street Fighter 3rd Strike until top 4, then play the rest of the tournament in Brood War?
Seeing ArtUser make his Zerg build felt like he simply wanted access to every unit and upgrade to be ready for any situation 😂 Meta be damned lol
Man zerg player looked like he was a league above
Damn Iris and GGPlay take me back
That's a route! Awesome end! Reminds me of Stronghold Crusader! 🤣😂
have you announced that OSL final against GGplay?
I was there I was the Zergling
I like the quirky builds in this one
0.39 ooooh
hello thank you Mr StarCraft
Kill the zerg buildings that is zergs weakness. Stalls them and then they can't can't n units until that building is back up just a thought.
Terran literally builds 2 scvs, cuts production, and sends 6th out to build a racks.
Arty calls it 8 racks all game.
Why didn’t he make Infested Terrans?
Funny enough is that I am playing like this in the campaign and played like this vs bots
Never played rank though but I think it would be bussin
It was a 6 rax, not an 8 rax, great cast.
Good catch. This might explain why he seemed behind despite killing 4 drones with it.
By the way what is the meaning of ö.ö instead of gg?
I think it's surprised eyes like, "I just got trounced, well played"
I think it's just gg
it is "hh" in korean alphabet ㅎㅎ is the same key as gg without the alternating key, that change the latin alphabet to the korean one, on the korean layout on windows, etc.
ArtUser never bothered with Adrenal Glands, which seems weird.
That must be a mistake, It seems so weird. Probably had to use gas elsewhere, but it's worth it instead of one ultra for sure
Is art user the guy who invented muta micro?
No
Shark found the micro muta stacking trick
yaaaaay... guardians!
What rank is this terran??
❤❤❤
Idk whats gonna happen in this game, but I want you to remember Artosis, Terran is better then Zerg ;)
Good morning pooptosis :D
Man it's your replay you can pause it if you want haha. The impatient ADHD's can just skip ahead if they forgot to take their eggs of the stove
Lol this is my D rank play vs terran. I like to rush guardian to defend 3 fast bases
gg
nice
EZ Terran
This just felt like a much better player doing a joke build because his opponent really wasn't good enough to threaten him.
Gg.
Gg
Damn Iris got completely owned. I wouldn't be surprised if that is his last game ever.
Bronze league heroes vibes.
Marines are the strongest unit
No idea what you’re talking about
Artosis can we make baby ? #1 fan for reference. can i get a
FIrst
Zerg won easily
painfull
