Rusty is not at all credible. He’s been caught in numerous lies, was cheating with a married woman, and seeing another woman during his affair. He can’t be trusted in the least. The way she treated her family, especially her sons was abhorrent. She has tried , and somewhat successfully, pitted the siblings against one another. She is pure evil.

She probably told him,that Gary was AT the burnpile, and since he recalled that conversation in which he was intoxicated, AFTER Gary was killed, and while he was sitting at the police station during a police interview where he was being interrogated, he told them that Melody said" Gary is ON the burnpile, since that is where he was found. Notice that Rusty did NOT ask Melody whether she remembered if he responded "don't tell me any more, i dont need to hear any more about it". I honestly believe, that Rusty fabricated the part of him telling Melody ",i dont want to hear more, i dont need to hear more about it". Because THAT is what he would have been expected to say if Melody had told him that Gary is ON the burnpile; -if he were innocent. He was drunk. Melody probably mentioned during their conversations , that Gary had started the burnpile and Gary was at the burnpile, which he would have been(rather than in his basement apt). That was an innocuous statement to Rusty which didnt become noteworthy, until Gary was dead and Rusty was suddenly brung interrogated and suspected of being involved in a murder. It is an innocuous statement that Rusty twisted because he was being threatened with arrest +pressured , unless he provided law enforcement with something helpful to the investigation. Since ge didnt ha e anything, he grasped onto her mentioning the Gary and the burnpile. The fact the Melody didnt go ballistic on Rusty during this recorded call when he brings up her having supposedly yold him that Gary was ON the burnpile. And ger hesitating and THEN suggesting that she may have mentioned that he had started the burnpile, to me, proves her innocence. At least as far as, her never having made that statement to Rusty.
The investigator brought up some very good points. The logical response would be, What do you mean?” after hearing he’s on the burn pile unless Rusty had an idea she would or could murder her husband. He seemed to know what she meant without any context. And as the investigator pointed out, after days and days of phone calls that was the only one in the middle of the night.
Exactly. If I called my husband and said “he’s in the burn pile.” He would say “what? Who’s in what burn pile?! Are you burning? Is it okay to burn today? (We have rules about burning in my town.) Do you have a hose handy?”

Notice that Rusty did NOT ask Melody whether she remembered if he responded "don't tell me any more, i dont need to hear any more about it". I honestly believe, that Rusty fabricated the part of him telling Melody ",i dont want to hear more, i dont need to hear more about it". Because THAT is what he would have been expected to say if Melody had told him that Gary is ON the burnpile; -if he were innocent. He was drunk. Melody probably mentioned during their conversations , that Gary had started the burnpile and Gary was at the burnpile, which he would have been(rather than in his basement apt). That was an innocuous statement to Rusty which didnt become noteworthy, until Gary was dead and Rusty was suddenly brung interrogated and suspected of being involved in a murder. It is an innocuous statement that Rusty twisted because he was being threatened with arrest +pressured , unless he provided law enforcement with something helpful to the investigation. Since ge didnt ha e anything, he grasped onto her mentioning the Gary and the burnpile.
The fact the Melody didnt go ballistic on Rusty during this recorded call when he brings up her having supposedly yold him that Gary was ON the burnpile. And ger hesitating and THEN suggesting that she may have mentioned that he had started the burnpile, to me, proves her innocence. At least as far as, her never having made that statement to Rusty.
The investigator brought up some very good points. The logical response would be, What do you mean?” after hearing he’s on the burn pile unless Rusty had an idea she would or could murder her husband. He seemed to know what she meant without any context. And as the investigator pointed out, after days and days of phone calls that was the only one in the middle of the night.
