    We get it Mark. Putting weight that can kill you on your back and moving it through a range of motion is intense. You are literally battling the weight because it might kill or hurt you. Nothing like stepping under a scary weight and the focus, intensity, and drive you have to have to get it back in position. The fear must not win or you will lose.

    Mark Bell, the closest thing to that pressure, and it's totally different in how it affects your body afterwards, is big wave surfing. Tons of water crashing down on your head. Burst eardrums. That kinda thing.

  • @satyakibhattacharya4802

    Andrew Herbert has done some crazy stuff in Animal pak cage.
    After doing 700 lbs squat for 7 reps, he proceeded straight to 700lbs deadlift for 7 reps. Maybe, just 30/40 seconds rest in between to get his setup ready.
    And another time, he squatted 700lbs for 12 damn reps.
    As far as I know, he is coached by Dan Green.

  • @cognacbraun1
    @cognacbraun1 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Holy smokes, Herbert is a beast! Squatting those weights, no belt and walked out, for reps and making it look easy? Mad respect... on top of it all, he's pretty lean. Incredible.

    • @17mjankowski
      @17mjankowski 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      one word, steroids

    • @cognacbraun1
      @cognacbraun1 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Matt Jankowski Jesus, for how much langer are people going to hide behind the steroids excuse? If you really think that steroids get you to a 900-plus pound squat, you’re either naive or delusional. I’m not saying they don’t help, sure they do. But it’s the icing on the cake, not the main driver of results.

    I think the shaking with the super heavy weights is a slight weakness in the tendons, this is where the muscle is stronger than the tendon. This is where most Pec tears, bicep tears occur.

  • @trampley
    @trampley 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    I've fought, and I've squatted heavy (though nothing like these beasts), and I find having heavy weight on my back much scarier than fighting. You get hit hard in training, you know what it feels like. But how often can you actually have 1000 lbs on your back? That seems much harder to mentally prepare for just because you can't really do it often enough to get used to it.

    In rugby, being a prop in a scrum that is stalemated is pretty close in terms of the physics to having around half a ton loaded on your back. That feeling blows by the way. I played rugby for years, and I only played one match as a prop (usually a flanker). Every scrum felt worse than getting thrown from a motorcycle at 25 mph (I've done that too).
    That said, the force is distributed differently. That amount of force concentrated into a 29mm steel bar probably adds a whole extra order of magnitude of intensity to the feeling.
