Patrick, you just saved my boss's life. I was going to annihilate him for putting me in a department i hate, but i think I'm going to let him live for another 8 hours 😂
This is one of those weird things where you have a novelization of a movie that’s already based on a book. In this case it’s John W. Campbell’s Who Goes. The weirdest novelization I ever saw was for the 1998 movie version of Great Expectations. It was written by Deborah Chiel, who also wrote the novelization of Die Hard, so an obvious choice.
Ye it is a 👍 this and alien, aliens, predator and slugs are the finest movies out there and the practical effects are second to none! I see u too are a man of fine taste sir.🫡
It’s interesting how the AI handles the regular narration pretty well, but as soon as it has to do dialogue between two characters it falls apart. It seems like it can’t replicate the natural pauses or cadence of conversational speech and suddenly sounds very robotic.
I seem to recall that "conversation" is something like 90 percent body language and other subtle cues absent in written language. Think about "talking over" in a phone call; or the "message" that goes through ten people in a classroom: (person 1) "Julie has six toes on her left foot"... (person 10) "Dooley had sex twice in a life raft"....
I consider myself an avid fan of The Thing. I've read the book by Alan Dean Foster. Cool scenes that are not in the film. The 2011 film disappointed. I've been waiting for the Audiobook. Better narration would have been nice. Still, nice find.

Watched the Howard Hawks movie as a boy and it scared the crap out of me fast forward to John Carpenter's version and yes it scared the crap out of me 😂😂😂❤❤❤
For some reason mine stopped right before the very end when they were sitting down in the freezing pub to play chess. Someone please let me know what happens?!!
These recordings are not good Appreciate the effort, I do But the ai voice is unbearable over all the videos on the channel Hopefully you have some real voiced content
Appreciate the effort for what it is, but: the AI is the 1st detraction, but the largest and most glaring detraction are ALL the changes made that are nonsensical at best infantile and counterintuitive at worst. Compared to the Alien and Aliens novelization expected sooooo much better. Was Jonesing for a good story and listened to the end in the forlorn hope it redeemed itself somewhere along the way... it doesn't. Dissapointed.

Awesome! Now I won't have to pay a fortune tracking down a vintage paperback. Thank you!
The novelisation of the remake of the film based on the short story inspired by the novelette.
All based on a PS2 game😂
@covidenslavement8918 That would be hilarious!
😂😂
Lol there was a cool game that was supposed to be a direct sequel to the thing movie 😅 it was pretty good I think it was on the ps2 😅

"Who Goes There" is a worthwhile read. That's what I thought this was, pretty disappointed.
Best horror movie ever.

Alien and The Thing are literal landmarks in cinema.
Thank you. I’ve been trying to find this for years
Fantastic book. Great film. I thank you👍
Thank you for uploading book. I’ve been looking for it.😊
I watch The Thing when I was maybe 10 yo. It scared the $hit out of me. Still one of my favorites all these years!

AI can't handle a lot of dialog and issues human narrators are paid to perform.
Yeah, the dialogue is dreadful.
I have to agree . Not sure if I can get thru the whole book🥴👵🏻👩🌾❣️

The over educated toaster reading this book is garbage, compared to a living person. But it's better than nothing
The AI mistaking "Doc" for "document" is pretty hilarious😂
"Look at this, document, what do u make of it?" The document shrugged
Awesome I've been waiting to find this audiobook for ages thanks 🙏👍
Superb. Looking forward to hours of this tomorrow at work

Thanks for posting.

Theres a few out there , just googled.
20 dollars - 35 dollars
A MASSIVE thank you from Glasgow!
Alan Dean Foster found his niche and got paid.
Another charlatan and a fraud like the host of this channel. Coward
This was great. Man!
Thank you for this!!
I have the book but i wasn’t sure of how long it would take for me to write it all down…
The terrible computer narration absolutely ruins it for me. Shame.
This book is awesome. Im glad to have an original copy from ebay.
Amazing. Finding a paperback of this is damn near impossible.
Thank you 🙏
If I remember right the original is called Who goes there.
Who goes there?

There is a short audiobook of this story from the alien's perspective. It is 2 parts & is literally, spectacular!
Never new that! Would move to listen to it sometime
Alan dean foster wrote midworld, the inspiration from the movie Avatar
And, of course, Alien 👾
If u would take out the previous this would be the best story ever please

Sorry, but it just ain't the same without Snake Plissken.
Real question, why are the S sounds so much more pronounced?
The thing will always be a classic. I wish a good remake movie to be made.
Why don't we just wait here for a little while.....see what happens?
