This reset is require after you service your car so if it's pops up that means you car service is due so please service your car if haven't before reseting this message.

Why does it come on in the first place? Asking because the had major service done (with oil changes the full lot) 4 months ago and didn't even drive 1000km since then. Service book and oil says it's only due towards end of this year or another couple thousand kms. Is it something I should worry about?

Inspection light is just an alarm or reminder for service in vw polo. If you haven't passed 6 months since last service then just reset otherwise service your car.

Oil is meant to be changed at a time or mileage, whichever comes first, often 12 months or 10,000 miles. If the service indicator comes on it means the time has come. You could drive on for a bit longer but if you want to maintain the car in good condition the oil and filter change is one of the most important things.

Sign meaning is it's time to service your car. Mechanic usually reset the sign each time they service. But sometimes they miss it.
