People were too hard on this storyline. It should have been brutally apparent from the start that Marvel was not "really" going to turn Cap into a secret Nazi mole this whole time.
If I have a complaint it's that too many people choose to follow NaziCap blindly. If they were altered by the Cube too, it would make sense, but it's vague about the whole thing.
I really liked watching this whole storyline at once, though I had already seen some parts of it. But, I think they did the whole finding the parts of the cosmic cube thing because people hated the secret empire so much, so this basically retconned it.

The trick there is that you'd have to review pretty much every major crossover, but to provide context you'd have to go into details about all the inter-crossing characters (who can get fairly obscure). Plus... it's not like the comics are going to STOP producing history.
Looking back at CW2, Carol was off the rails, and Clint killed Bruce for no reason knowing that Bruce couldn't Hulk out. Secret Empire is a good event that's underrated.
It would have been interesting to see the hydra world in more detail i also wanted to she just what would have happened if captain hydra won at the end and finished hisplans what would he do after.

They were still heavy ingrain with the Nazi’s, they were funded by them, many of its leaders and higher ups were Nazi’s themselves, they employed Nazi’s tactics (including making concentration camps with the Inhumans), and there most common leader the Red Skull was an absolute Nazi and was basically the right hand man to Hitler. Even if they existed before the Nazi party in and out of universe, you can’t pretend they weren’t heavily influenced by them.
This is the problem with super hero worlds. People are so easy to use violence to get what they want instead of talk it out. Everyone tends to go for the punch first talk later route. I feel so bad for the insurance companies in both Marvel and DC universe. 😂😂😂
I really enjoyed this. A Steve Rogers that fully embraced the whole Hydra concept. I thought Marvel might do more with him post Secret Empire. I felt they could have gotten more mileage out of the character. But after Reading Cap #8 I guess not.
I'm honestly a little intrigued by Captain Marvel's new role in Marvel Comics, I mean people whine that she has no flaws and here she is...flawed. Hell--Tony did worse and I loved every second. I could get Carol's side of things but I don't like the idea of a police state for obvious reason so I have to go with Tony on this .I was more interested in the Civil War than the Captain America and Hydra stuff lol
The biggest problem I had with this story is that it didn't really tackle the idea that the superhero community had had vested too much moral authority in Captain America. All the Superheroes act like Captain American is the most moral person alive and if you not with him you are wrong. Even Stark feels that way even when he is fighting him. This has been bugging me since the first Civil War when I felt that Cap wasn't held accountable for his actions and Stark was completely vilify even though he wasn't entirely wrong. Since that arc, Cap is always portrayed as morally superior even though I feel there were times where his beliefs endangered people. Secret Empire should have dealt with the fallout of giving one person moral authority over you and there should have been more psychological fallout in the community.
The day Steve Rogers Captain America says "Hail Hydra" in a non-acting way, everyone lost their minds in blind rage until it was later revealed that wasn't our main Marvel Universe Steve Rogers.
Wait so carol was the one in favor of using Ulysses future sight thing but she still has the audacity to cry about the hulk being killed when despite it being a result of using the power to stop future threats And it's not like that made her stop or even hesitate even when she was told that the powers weren't a guarantee she still chose to go through with it "But hulk is her friend even if she knew it had to be done she can still get sad" that's not the point if it was so upsetting then why when you are giving proof you don't have to keep doing it that way and probably shouldn't did she still keep doing it Because she is a stubborn jerk who can't accept she's wrong and unlike other people who are like that she won't even compromise or admit it even after everything is said and done and she does sort of accept it I'm pretty sure iron man has done something similar multiple times but when he is Proven wrong he at least acknowledges it to an extent
I'm just gonna say I dont and probably never will understand all the hate this story got. For me I enjoyed it for the same reasons I did the winter solider movie. This wasn't just a good comic but a good spy mystery, I loved how despite becoming a Hydra solider Steve had the same/similar virtues to him and even wanted to change Hydra into a group void of their hypocritical nature. And it works in the since that in many ww2 adjacent stories there are brain washed spies and double agents that come out of left field. So when he first said Heil Hydra, my thoughts were "holy hell wtf, where is this gonna go, I can't wait." For the longest time characters like Steve and Thor have suffered from the same story over and over. So when these new ones came out, like Unworthy Odinson. That shook things and gave the characters mystery and jolts of excitement and path the way for other characters like Falcon, and Jane Foster to get make overs. It was amazing👌❤️ Sorry about this tangent I created, I just don't get how people can hate spasm something to the point of overkill.
The reason why it initially got hate was the fact Captain America was a Hydra Agent, with not knowing why it was the case for awhile. Once people knew what was going on the story became a good one
Agreed man. This was a great run that actually took the character to new grounds. It always amazes me how for everybody bashing this run, most never really made a big deal about mark waids run immediately after this where cap was getting praised, loved, parades, a holiday named after him and etc. With spencor you can at least say his run added a mega impact on the cap mythos. Both with Steve Roger's and Sam Wilson
Darryl Jack initially I had a reaction of confusion and anger cause next to spiderman captain America is one of my favorite heros, especially MCU, but over time I admit that I wanted to see how this would play out cause it's actually a cool idea......it's a shame though that it had to be part of the awful event civil war 2.

The biggest problem I had with this story is that it didn't really tackle the idea that the superhero community had had vested too much moral authority in Captain America. All the Superheroes act like Captain American is the most moral person alive and if you not with him you are wrong. Even Stark feels that way even when he is fighting him. This has been bugging me since the first Civil War when I felt that Cap wasn't held accountable for his actions and Stark was completely vilify even though he wasn't entirely wrong. Since that arc, Cap is always portrayed as morally superior even though I feel there were times where his beliefs endangered people. Secret Empire should have dealt with the fallout of giving one person moral authority over you and there should have been more psychological fallout in the community.
The day Steve Rogers Captain America says "Hail Hydra" in a non-acting way, everyone lost their minds in blind rage until it was later revealed that wasn't our main Marvel Universe Steve Rogers.
Ya'll remember that "The Avengers don't kill" while rooting for the MCU and bashing DC.

Because she is a stubborn jerk who can't accept she's wrong and unlike other people who are like that she won't even compromise or admit it even after everything is said and done and she does sort of accept it
I'm pretty sure iron man has done something similar multiple times but when he is Proven wrong he at least acknowledges it to an extent

I'm just gonna say I dont and probably never will understand all the hate this story got.
For me I enjoyed it for the same reasons I did the winter solider movie. This wasn't just a good comic but a good spy mystery, I loved how despite becoming a Hydra solider Steve had the same/similar virtues to him and even wanted to change Hydra into a group void of their hypocritical nature. And it works in the since that in many ww2 adjacent stories there are brain washed spies and double agents that come out of left field. So when he first said Heil Hydra, my thoughts were "holy hell wtf, where is this gonna go, I can't wait."
For the longest time characters like Steve and Thor have suffered from the same story over and over. So when these new ones came out, like Unworthy Odinson. That shook things and gave the characters mystery and jolts of excitement and path the way for other characters like Falcon, and Jane Foster to get make overs. It was amazing👌❤️

The reason why it initially got hate was the fact Captain America was a Hydra Agent, with not knowing why it was the case for awhile. Once people knew what was going on the story became a good one
Agreed man. This was a great run that actually took the character to new grounds. It always amazes me how for everybody bashing this run, most never really made a big deal about mark waids run immediately after this where cap was getting praised, loved, parades, a holiday named after him and etc.
With spencor you can at least say his run added a mega impact on the cap mythos. Both with Steve Roger's and Sam Wilson
Darryl Jack initially I had a reaction of confusion and anger cause next to spiderman captain America is one of my favorite heros, especially MCU, but over time I admit that I wanted to see how this would play out cause it's actually a cool idea......it's a shame though that it had to be part of the awful event civil war 2.
