  • For this beach house, located 30 minutes out of Auckland Central on the eastern beaches overlooking Waiheke Island and Motuihe, the timeline from first engagement to completion was close to a decade. During that time the project went through a series of different development ideas, but in the end, the brief for the project developed into something quite simple: a single-family home, where the owner’s children and grandchildren would be encouraged to come and stay on a regular basis.

Normally I don't write about it, just enjoy. Although the building has a spectacular view of the beach, it doesn't have quite an impression to me of Piet Mondrian's pattern. I think.

The VR experience was weird but might be something cool to explore in the future!

You know these houses have peace quietness. Compare to all those apartments from Hollywood Hills, Malibu, Beverly Hills overpriced.

Call me simple, but I don’t find this as a calming pattern. Too much going on and it’s confusing. Maybe it’s the editing because there’s no time to let my brain wrap my head around it? But I can’t say I find anything peaceful, soothing or comforting about it. I get that’s just my opinion and I get the impression the owners love it. And they should. But it’s not for me.
    Cheers.

yeah, I thought the same thing because the move the camera alongside the house, so the patterns shift. But, i think that if you are inside and you watch how the sun creates shadows on walls and ceilings from these patterns and how they slowly move throughout the day, would be kind of tranquil. It's like another piece of art on your walls. And I notice that they left big window openings in the middle, I presume not to obstruct ocean views.
