Pre pre flight day Saturday 30th August!
I’m mum Laura, hubby/ dad Ant and Matilda 9 (10 in October) plus my mum (grandma) is coming on this trip with us. We are staying in Universal Endless Summer Surf Side first for 1 week then onto FQ for 3 weeks (10 nights at FQ for my mum).
Matilda has had a difficult time the past 2 years with school and being bullied. You may remember that she has an over active bladder and an enlarged bowl, now she has also been diagnosed with autism. We did get a DAS for her on our last trips and have already got this set up ready. We also got a disability pass last time in universal for her so we’re hoping to get the same this time. I myself have struggled with health issues with my back which you may remember from previous blogs but this last year I have been really poorly and have spent time in hospital. I have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, chronic wide spread pain syndrome and had colitis amongst a lot of other things. I also would be able to get a DAS pass but I don’t think we will need it as Matilda will have hers. I am going to look at getting us both one in universal as I really like the bigger rides which I’m sure Matilda will do but incase she decides not to ride I can still ride.
Our plans for this trip are Universal for 1 week and Disney for 3 weeks. In the Universal week we are doing both parks, Volcano Bay (a first for us), outlets for shopping, target/Walmart, Titanic museum and exploring international drive. In Disney we are attending the MNSSHP, H20 Glow night at Typhoon Lagoon (another first for us), 1 night at Bay lake tower, 1 night at the Poly, 1 night at the Grand Floridian club level and 1 night at Animal Kingdom lodge club level (all first time at hotels), more outlets for character warehouse shopping, more supermarket shopping to stock up.
Ant and Matilda were up early this morning and out to get the car cleaned and walk Jasper. I finally slept better last night and stayed in bed for a little bit having a rest. Once up I had a tidy around and got our phone chargers, tooth paste all things we couldn’t pack until we have used this morning. Ant and Matilda came home and we all had showers. Packed the last bits, loaded up the car and off we went.
Pit stop number one for a card for my father in law for his birthday while we’re away. Pit stop number two for a cereal bar and bottle of water as I realised I hadn’t eaten anything. Pit stop number three to drop off Jasper and some tears later we were back in the car. Pit stop number four to pick up my mum. All in the car, all luggage finally fitted in, all ready and off we went to the airport.
Arrived at the airport where we followed the signs for meet and greet as we had paid to leave the car at the airport while we’re away. It was £140 to leave it for 4 weeks which we don’t think was too bad as it saved us paying for a taxi to and from the airport. We had to park the car on the meet and greet car park and then walk into the terminal where we left the keys with the staff.
We walked through terminal 2 and along the connecting tunnel (just over a 5 min walk) where we arrived at the Raddison Blu airport hotel. We checked in fine but the rooms were not ready so we went up to the executive lounge and left our luggage at the checkin desk. We have booked an executive room which gave us access to the executive lounge. In this lounge we got soft drinks, hot drinks, alcohol after 4 including beer, wine and sprits. Cold canapés from 4:00 and hot from 5:00 then desserts at 7:45. Breakfast is from 6am in the morning. It’s great as it looks out over the airport runway and is really lovely to relax in. Not long after being in they came and told us our rooms were ready and they had left our luggage in them for us. We went to our rooms checked everything over and then came back to the lounge for some snacks.
We stayed in the lounge for a while chilling watching the planes take off and waiting for the foot ball to start. It was England versus Germany in the woman’s European championships. Once it started we headed back to our rooms and watched the football where England one for the first time ever. Whoop whoop! Matilda had been watching it with my mum so they came back to us and we got some desserts from the lounge to celebrate. My mum when back to her room and we all got ready for bed. Matilda was really good and actually went to sleep fine so did daddy. Off to bed I went all ready for the morning. The excitement off the scales as fell asleep dreaming of our holidays.

Massive as the baggage system went down. All is good now though we’re slightly delayed but at least we’re on board and ready

Airlines like Tui, Jet2, Virgin, easyjet, Ryanair etc. whom have flights out all the time have permanent check-in, so they will be always setup and in the same place. Hope this helps.

I was searching to find someone's latest experience with regards to T2 M&G, was confused from where to enter. Very helpful indeed, to identify the new entrance of T2 Meet & Greet (which is far before than given on google maps). I am booked for T2 M&G in few weeks, and i had an idea that sometime back there was construction going on and not to rely on google only. The entrance is via the first entrance on T2 East. Thanks for sharing this.

Ant thinks he tweeted the airport and they sent him a form but he’d totally forgotten about it as he did it ages before we went so he was surprised when we got of the plane too 😂
