why are tf2 animators so talented it makes no sense im not complaining but like this is one of those situations where there was a finite limit but everyone passed it
My personal theory but tf2 was linked with a lot of gmod animation stuff back in the day like 15 years ago, then sfm got added by valve which let you use a lot of tf2 assets to animate with. With the yearly film awards valve used to have for tf2 harbored a creative community that's only expanded and evolved since then.
As best I can tell, SFM was the first high quality 100% free 3d animation software to come out with a low barrier to entry, and it has everything you need to animate tf2 characters from the jump.
As a years-long SFM fan, the montage calling back to Live and Let Spy, Turbulence, Emesis Blue, Till Death Do Us Part Two, The Fight for Sawmill and Spawncamp (technically) were the highlight of this for me!
Yeah good idea to put that scene from Spawncamp since it works as a Django reference too. Recognized them all but couldn't pinpoint the handholding scene at 0:58, I vividly remember seeing it in a movie.

I fucking love the way you use frame rate to make an incredibly satisfying kinda choppy movement. Normally the goal would be to make smooth movements but you chose an entirely different style that easily could have gone wrong yet you managed to pull it off in a beautiful way

I fucking love the way you use frame rate to make an incredibly satisfying kinda choppy movement. Normally the goal would be to make smooth movements but you chose an entirely different style that easily could have gone wrong yet you managed to pull it off in a beautiful way
It really makes every movement feel like it has weight and impact
