Googled "how to draw a rose" and ended up here. Decided I'd like to learn to draw recently and this was drawing #2 (first was an overly complicated dragon following instructions from a book that didn't go well). Once I've had a bit more practice I think I'll have to buy some of those watercolour pens, using coloured pencils for now. Thanks for the useful video, will check out some more of yours for inspiration of what to draw next.

I can draw it just fine (the outline, at least) but I wish you had SOME explanation for what to highlight, darken, shade, etc. because coloring the whole thing in with one color, and then randomly picking petals to darken, lines to enhance, what should stay pink and what should be darker..... is where my brain fell out. I can shade just fine when I can clearly see where light is coming from, but I guess the plethora of overlapping petals and having no discernable light source/direction makes it harder.
