Very interesting countdown 🎣🎣. I laughed when you described the musky porpoising. I see them with their mouths open quite a bit on Webster lake in Indiana. Definitely don’t know why they do it but it reminds me of when you are in a room full of people and the family dog walks by scraping his butt on the carpet not giving a damn who is watching 😂 and with a goofy look on his face.
Nice. I'm real partial to NW WI lakes. Sometimes you don't see many people, which is fine by me. NE WI has become little Canada, and crowded. Floating bogs can be great too, keeping the bottom open if they move. Great job on this, we're lucky to have so many cool little hole-in-the-wall lakes. As a kid I caught my PB perch on Tomahawk, limit of walleyes on Mepps 3&4.
I love fishing those secluded little lakes. I grew up in northern WI and didn't realize how crowded lakes can get until I moved closer to the Twin Cities.

8 miles east of Hayward, Big Round and Little Round Lakes. How is the fishing? Have not been there since 1972. Used to go there all the time, but money got scared and I stayed closer to home. 😊
Round lake was decent. I had to wait out a storm first, so I ran out of time and didn't make it to little Round lake. I'd call it a good lake, but I'd rank it as average. Nothing there made me want to come back immediately and fish it again, but I did enjoy the day I did spend there. @@GoMidwestFishing - I grew up fishing the Ripley Lakes with my dad and grandfather. Word got about out Little Ripley back in the mid 80's, and it got fished out. I mean this respectfully, but the fastest way to see the quality of fishing go down is to make videos like this, or telegraph spots like I've seen you do in your videos. Near me, I've seen medium-sized lakes get to the point where the parking lots are literally closed due to excessive traffic after videos/pictures of catches surfaced. I don't think you have bad intentions, but I also don't suspect you've seen what broadcasting GPS spots can do to a lake and the fishing.
I can't disagree with that. The fishing pressure has really gone up over the years. I also believe that there are just more people fishing. All these people will be on the lakes regardless if I make a video or not. My goal with making videos is to provide people with more info about lakes that they are going to fish anyway. All the lakes I fish are easily found on any map and have public access, so they are not secrets. I think we all would like to see less people on the lakes, but since that's probably not going to happen, I hope more people will practice catch and release. I was expecting to catch walleye there, but just caught a lot of smallmouth. I'm nit the greatest walleye fisherman, so maybe that had something to do with it.
The chain of lakes is ridiculously packed come june. You literally cant fish without being almost knocked out of the boat from waves. Also got fished way way down. It used to truely be something else. Now its just has too many boats on it plain and simple. Hard to fish cause of the traffic mostly
I fish nights because it cuts down on competition. I catch twenty pound catfish and the minimum length on pike is forty-eight inches. I don't own a boat except a canoe up at my parents house on the Wisconsin River below Castle Rock Reservoir
Castle rock is a cool lake. I haven't fished it yet, but I did take a party pontoon out there. We anchored by that island along with a hundred other boats and had a good time.
I just did a camping/fishing trip on the wisconsin river dam just under castle rock. Stayed at mirror lake state park and set up the thermal ice shanty as a tent since it was lows of 22°f. First time fishing it and bought minnows from the boat launch/bait shop that's next to the electrical company. Had to fish the side of the dam with no current since some people were already fishing in the current. Ended up catching my first musky that was 39.5 inches and then shortly after my buddy caught his second musky of his life (and biggest) and his was 43.5 inches and a bit fatter than mine. Right around 8 o'clock we decided to head back to camp and on the last cast my buddy caught a FAT 24.5 inch walleye. All the fish were let go with care and stayed in the net until time to take some pictures. Great time, and Great fishing spot. Will go back again.
Yep, that's correct. WI counts any body of water 5 acres or bigger as a lake, which is why most "lakes" don't have public access. Now the real debate is, does MN or WI have more lakes? (hint: it comes down to the criteria used to consider a body of water a lake)
I realize that nobody wants people fishing "their lake," but at the same time, we all want information on where good places to fish are. I mean... you did watch this video.
In this age of social media and electronics I think the responsible thing for the resource is to allow people the joy of finding their own lake. Lakes ( especially small ones that are listed ) cannot hold up to limitless pressure and technology.
Wow, posting content like this will make these Wisconsin lakes the "WORST" fishing lakes. Stop making the quality of fishing go down for your own personal satisfaction of gaining likes, views, follows, and it is very selfish. Look up Matt Rinellas Podcast, he's right about what's happening to overcrowded hunting, fishing, and poor quality.
Surprised Lake Geneva didn't make the list. After all it is 1 of the top lakes that studies show could break the walleye record for wisconsin. Dnr recently handled a 14.2 pound walleye in 2015 and handled numerous 12-13 pound walleye in that same year. Not to mention it has almost every other game fish/pan fish including musky, lake trout, and sturgeon. Only downside is that its a popular boating lake for locals and 🤢 Illinois "people" 🤮
I haven't fished many lakes in Southern WI yet. I'm planning a trip down there this year though, so the reason Lake Geneva isn't on the list, is because I have not fished it yet. It sounds like an amazing lake though. I will try to get there soon.
Interesting ....But...... No Anvil Lake, No Butternut Lake, No Boot Lake, No Big Sand Lake, No (Big) Green Lake, No Smokey Lake....etc etc. ......huh ?
Well, it looks like I still have a lot of lakes to check out. This list contains only lakes that I have actually been to. As of the making of this video, this is my favorite 10 lakes out of the 85 that I have been to and recorded a video about. I will make a note of the lakes you mentioned and will go check them out.
Well, both WI and MN claim to have over 14,000 lakes. Its hard to know which state has more lakes because they have different criteria for what a lake is. Its an interesting debate if you look into it.
1000 lakes is really something. I assume that's over your lifetime? I've obviously been to more than 85 lakes. These these are just the ones I've recorded on video. Plus I don't just fish WI lakes, so it will take a while to hit that 1000 mark.
I will never ever understand the need for guys to do this to the places they fish at. Are you lonely, feeling left out, want to meet many many many more people at the places you fish. Everybody is a movie producer these days.
Thanks for destroying some hidden gems. Now the bost ramps and parking lots will be jamed up with people, trucks, and boats. The fisheries will be wiped out. They are not sustainable to that kind of pressure and will take years to recover if they ever do. Too many wonderful lakes have been desamated by over fishing 😢
Thanks for the great reviews.

The chain of lakes is ridiculously packed come june. You literally cant fish without being almost knocked out of the boat from waves. Also got fished way way down. It used to truely be something else. Now its just has too many boats on it plain and simple. Hard to fish cause of the traffic mostly
Thanks for the info. I must have hit it at a good time because I hardly saw another boat.
Wisconsin here I come Tomahawk is the place to be so I loaded up the truck and move away from the sea.
We should all chip in and buy this guy a bump board.
Wisconsin has over 14,000 lakes.
Yep, that's correct. WI counts any body of water 5 acres or bigger as a lake, which is why most "lakes" don't have public access. Now the real debate is, does MN or WI have more lakes? (hint: it comes down to the criteria used to consider a body of water a lake)
It doesn’t really matter to me who has the most lakes, there’s great fishing in both states!
I’ve fished bone lake MANY times……. This lake is way over fished and during the summer forget about it cuz of the ski boat n jet skis
It was nice in the winter, its too bad it gets so busy in the summer. I tried going there on labor day and couldn't get a parking spot.
As a Wisconsin resident I can tell you that none of these lakes listed here have good fishing. Forget about this and stay away!
This guy is right
I realize that nobody wants people fishing "their lake," but at the same time, we all want information on where good places to fish are. I mean... you did watch this video.
😅
In this age of social media and electronics I think the responsible thing for the resource is to allow people the joy of finding their own lake. Lakes ( especially small ones that are listed ) cannot hold up to limitless pressure and technology.
@@GoMidwestFishingThanks for giving away good spots dumb azz
Pewaukee lake
I put it on the list. Thanks.
@@GoMidwestFishing hellya you will love it silver lake oconowac also i spelled that wrong its about 15miles north of pewaukee lake
@@steveburlingame1935 I appreciate it!
If you catch fish it's all good
Wow, posting content like this will make these Wisconsin lakes the "WORST" fishing lakes. Stop making the quality of fishing go down for your own personal satisfaction of gaining likes, views, follows, and it is very selfish. Look up Matt Rinellas Podcast, he's right about what's happening to overcrowded hunting, fishing, and poor quality.
Yes, lots of people are fishing, but not because of me. They just like fishing.
Lake Geneva is the bomb. Be respectful because this absolute gem deserves it. My absolute fave!
Interesting ....But......
No Anvil Lake, No Butternut Lake, No Boot Lake, No Big Sand Lake, No (Big) Green Lake, No Smokey Lake....etc etc. ......huh ?
Love Big Lake!!
Well, it looks like I still have a lot of lakes to check out. This list contains only lakes that I have actually been to. As of the making of this video, this is my favorite 10 lakes out of the 85 that I have been to and recorded a video about. I will make a note of the lakes you mentioned and will go check them out.
@@GoMidwestFishing Especially try Butternut Lake (in Forest County) for smallies, and Boot Lake (in Eagle River) for Muskies. You are welcome.
If you can't listen to a screamin' drag it's hard to justify a trip anywhere!!😎
Not anymore!
10,000 lakes is Minnesota 😅
Well, both WI and MN claim to have over 14,000 lakes. Its hard to know which state has more lakes because they have different criteria for what a lake is. Its an interesting debate if you look into it.
D1 yapper
He said over 10,000 lakes and I was no longer going to watch it. That would be Minnesota guy. Wisconsin has more than 13,000.
WI is my home state, but I do live in MN now. Last I checked, 13,000 is "over" 10,000. WI and MN have over 10,000 lakes each.
If they did have good fishing they don't anymore
Lmao only 85 lakes I’ve been to over 1000 in Wisconsin
I think you are over estimating my influence.
