It's awesome living here and walking through Wallace. The fall colors are my favorite time of year.

My father Ralph, and my step father Clyde used to work in those mines there in the Wallace area back in the 1940's and 1950's. My father only worked in the Sunshine mine, and my step father worked in both the Sunshine mine and the Galena mine. I can't remembr which house we lived in there in Wallace as I was only 2 to 4 years old at the time, but I remember that it was on the left side of the stairs about halfway up that flight of concrete stairs that goes up the side of the hill. I still have a black and white picture of me out in the snow by the stairs of which my step father took when we lived there when he worked in the mine of which my mother gave me before she passed away of old age a few years ago.

An excellent video. Quite informative. In fact, this mine tour video is absolutely more informative than most video's of mine tours. Both the bus tour guide, and the mine tour guide are well informed and knowledgeable. They also are enthusiastic in their duties as tour guides as well as enthusiastic in parting their knowledge of the history and other subject information pertaining to the area to their tourist audiences. In my personal opinion they do an excellent job.

Yes I agree. I have toured many mines and I consider this one the best.

Yes that is neat they do that. I heard they used to paint that jacking bar white to make it easier to see.

Wow, 27 years in the mine, well I did 43 years underground as mucker mostly on 6 to 9 yard diesel scoop trams, till a stroke 3 years ago ended my mining days.

You should be a tour guide or make some You tube videos telling your stories.

@@travelingtom923 I wish, but the mine tour here was remined recently destroying the mine tour by open pit mining...Newmont owns this mine, the world famous Hollinger Gold mine. Besides my health doesn't allow me to do this.

They did a remarkable job of rebuilding the town after Dante's Peak erupted.

There would be more but many of these tours will not let you film which is unfortunate. Wanted to do a video on the bordello in town which was quite interesting, as well as another mine up the road. Both wouldn't allow it.

@ 15:19 they talked about the High School Mining Course, about the same time, I took a Diamond Drilling Course at Haileybury school of mines in Haileybury Ontario, and after that I took an explosives course at Sir Sanford Fleming College in Lindsay, Ontario just to get a job in the mines. The Diamond drilling school is now in Kirkland Lake Ontario, and the drilling and blasting course is still at Fleming College in Lindsay
