    Oh dear I watched this video and it was all so clear. I finally got my ultra short throw projector turned it on made sure it worked played with the menus reset it and everything after that is like you're speaking another language. Is there a more dumbed down version of how to set this thing up available. Like I had to hunt and search all over the menus to find the keystone and once I'm there I have no idea what to do with it

    • @DaileySewsStuff
      @DaileySewsStuff  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You’re not using the keystone menu at all. You’re correcting for keystones by physically adjusting the projector. There’s a link in the description box (I’m sorry, I don’t have it handy on my phone) to Sasha’s set up guide if you find that format easier to follow!

And I am a computer technician by the way.I'm still a bit confused when you talk about adjusting keystones I don't know what that is

      @DaileySewsStuff  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@nancypollard4531 that is funny! We send people to each other because different people learn in different ways and we both just want to be helpful. Keystone is when the image is a trapezoid rather than a rectangle. Your goal is to make your image a rectangle by physically moving the projector. There’s a graphic in her guide and I used it in the blog post that goes with this video that explains it very well. Blog post here: www.daileysewsandstuff.com/blog/unboxing-and-setting-up-an-epson-ust
      But I think the best thing to do is just start. Wiggle the projector around with the calibration grid projecting and pointed at your mat. You’ll see how it changes.

    How do I rotate the pattern? If I try to rotate in Adobe, it wants me to pay to upgrade.

    • @DaileySewsStuff
      @DaileySewsStuff  ปีที่แล้ว

      I show you in the adobe Basics video if you need a visual but you *can* rotate without paying and they are just being ridiculous in the way the present it. If you right click and then click the WORDS “rotate view clockwise,” it’ll work. It’s only if you try to use the very convenient icons that they tell you that you have to pay for that service.

    Hi, I have ordered this same projector. Is there a way to change the projection from landscape to portrait. My cutting surface is on an old kitchenette countertop in my basement, so it’s narrow and would work best if the projector could go sit to the right of the cutting area instead of in front of it. Does that make sense? Any help would be appreciated!

    • @DaileySewsStuff
      @DaileySewsStuff  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It does make sense. And you are not the first person to wish it worked like that! There is no way to make the projection a different orientation, unfortunately. You can intentionally make the projection too big so it takes up the whole portrait space you have. Or put something beside your countertop to place the projector onto, if that works in your room. If you post a picture in the projector group or in my group, I’m sure we can help you brainstorm!

    Hi I just bought this new-to-me projector, Epson 455wi.
    You video is such a great help. I have to put my projector at the end of my cutting table. I have no room to put it behind the side of table. I cannot set it on the back of the table either, because I don’t have the depth.
    Question: can I rotate the screen vertically somehow?

    • @DaileySewsStuff
      @DaileySewsStuff  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nope. Unfortunately, they only project landscape. You can, however, set it up high enough that only a portion of your screen is on the cutting table and make it work by rotating the pattern itself in Adobe.

  • @kaedeford
    @kaedeford 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi! Great video series. I was wondering what the smallest size of projection the Epson Ultra Short throw (485wi is it?) can project? It says on the website 60" but it looks like you're able to fit it on a 24 x 36" cutting mat

    • @DaileySewsStuff
      @DaileySewsStuff  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      60” is probably a diagonal measurement and, yes, it’s pretty close to the size of my mat, just a little overhang. The size of the projection is always relative to how far the lens is from the mat.

    • @DaileySewsStuff
      @DaileySewsStuff  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The USTs have such a short throw that tiny adjustments make huge differences in the projection. They are more sensitive to unlevel surfaces, tiny changes in position, etc. But those same attributes can be advantageous, too. I’m hoping to do several comparison videos this summer to show these things a little better. I do tend to like my Short Throw better than the USTs, unless I want to use the pens, but each set up is so different that it’s hard to say what would work best for anyone else.

      This link should be good for all Windows computers using Epson projectors: epson.com/support/usb-display-for-windows
      If the HDMI cord is working for you, you don't have to change it. If you have trouble getting your aspect ratio right or if your projector is interactive and you'd like to use those features (I don't believe the 580 is interactive), then USB-B is the best bet. HDMI usually works well and doesn't cause aspect ratio issues. However, the 455 in my video only has VGA, no HDMI. While I use VGA for my 410, it *can* cause aspect ratio issues to connect via VGA.
