Uzice. Love it! The juxtaposition of the brutal tower blocks, the quaint hillside houses and the stunning nature on all sides - really cool. The morning light was phenomenonal as well. During this chase, he was denied access in other fortresses and outposts of his - so he made the last stand in Uzice. The siege was ended by a fire (arrows), and a surrender, and the warlord was spared but blinded by lords and dukes who would later make the epic stand against Turkish invasion in the 1380's and 1390's. Ingredients of "complet bun" - komplet lepinja: That gravy you saw is the stuff dripping from the animal meat when baked. Just like your stake will make it's own gravy - but this stuff is collected and later frozen when you're baking large quantities. It's awesome, tho sometimes there can be a bit more fat. Easily recognisable - this fat will stay on top, gray, while the good stuff is deep, dark brown and settles on the bottom. You can't buy a jar of "only the good stuff" because even the good stuff isn't good without some fat. It's just that too much fat will taste like.... fat. If there's more brown than gray, it's good quality. "Kajmak" is a dairy product, similar to every other cream made out of milk, only salty. It's one of the oldest ways to make something like that out of milk. Each time you cook your daily milk for example 100l of milk, in the end you just collect the "pancake" of milk fat that accumulated. You throw it on a plate and spread some salt around. Repeat every day until you have a bunch of kajmak. It doesn't taste good first few days, than it's awesome for like few weeks, while it's "young" than it becomes yellowish, some people prefer it in this period. When you smear these two into the bun, you break an egg directly in it and mix it all together. Needless to say it's a calorie bomb, myself, being from Uzice, would recommend some other places than the one advertised in this video, because I don't like my fingers oily from this, some other guys make it with less fatty gravy and generally easier on the stomach. But the way those guys do it (in this video) is more traditional. Btw, from whatever reason, this thing is made only in Uzice, you can't order it anywhere in Serbia, people don't know how to make it right. Btw2 - it is awesome, when done right.
Thanks for taking the time to tell us all this information Milan! I filmed a video this week in Uzice again and went to Blue Moon to compare it with Suljage. It will be up next week!
@@davidostrowski679 You should have went to Somun, near Una (ex pancake house, every taxi guy knows the place). So, if you're still around, third time's a charm. But maybe even Blue Moon is better than Suljaga. Too salty and too greasy for me ;D

@@davidostrowski679 Back in the day yoghurt packs in Serbia were bit bigger. It was 0.25L. Today is less then 0,2L and it is mesured in grams which is insane. 1kg is like 0.97L ( x milions of liters every day) . Dairy companies cheat.

Dios mío! It was as though you had fallen through into another world or period of tine. Your toy helicopter sure does amplify your surroundings 👌!! Top tier!!
Medieval battle captured by a toy helicopter! That was the theme!
He can now tick off "learn to fly toy helicopter" by the time you turn 40!! I think he can tick off more than you and l will do in a lifetime tbh, create a draw dropping video of cinematic quality isn't on that list but he has achieved it👍

Well done👍🏼🍀✌🏽
Hvala!
When you continue through the tunnels, you will pass through the beautiful nature and you will reach Velika Brana (Great Dam) and when you head towards Zlatibor, turn to Zabucje to go out to the lookout Point above Uzice, you shoud miss it. Greeting.
Velika Brana is an upcoming video I haven't edited yet. Watch out for it ;-)
Prelepo hvala na videu
love the views you captured! what u didnt go thru the tunnel! am shocked 😂
Great video! 👍
Thanks!
Great vlog
Thanks hun!
Wow!!
Indeed!
Well done! Thanks for presenting out city in this manner.
Next time you are in town, call, ask for help. we can show you interesting places and how to get there.
Thanks! I'm still here, leaving for Kruševac on Friday. I might film another video in Užice this week, I was going to go to the dam, the museum with the tunnels and Blue Moon. Any other suggestions?
@@davidostrowski679 Check sightseeing point on Zabučje. It is great view on whole Užice meadow.
Đetinja hides lots of interesting places, not just Velika brana: Mala brana, Rajske otoke, Picin vir, Grdina, neolith settlement (not fake one recently build for tourism purposes), Megara cave, few viewpoints on cliffs above Đetinja, old trade road...
Monument on Kadinjača

Ingredients of "complet bun" - komplet lepinja:
That gravy you saw is the stuff dripping from the animal meat when baked.

Really enjoying watching your adventures in the Balkans. I'll be travelling and teaching on iTalki full time from February next year, (and building a TH-cam channel of course!) so it's giving me a lot of ideas! Thanks for that!
Sounds bloody brilliant! And thanks of course! Where are you thinking of travelling to begin with?
@@davidostrowski679 Almost certainly going to visit Greece first. Then head home to the UK for a couple of weeks, then probably head to Bulgaria. I'm from the north of England but I've been living in South Korea since 2019 so Europe is going to be new and exciting again!
South Korea! I love Seoul! (been to Busan too but that's it). I miss Asia in general! I might have to go to the UK over Christmas to get a goddamn vaccine. Had no luck anywhere given that I'm not a resident. Next stop is Ukraine!
@@davidostrowski679 Ukraine! Very cool! Even more beautiful architecture for some awesome videos!
I wanted to live in Busan but, long story short, I've live here for almost 3 years and I've still never been! Haha. I've heard it's a cool city though.
I remember watching your Japan vlogs before I moved out here mate. Absolute inspiration! Still inspiring! I was in Tokyo November 2019 and saw the Mario cart convoy tearing through the streets. Looks like a lot of fun! It's definitely on my to do list.
Yeah, vaccines and travel is all a bit of a mess right now. Hope you can get it sorted out and just get back on the road. This whole pandemic is getting really boring. It's definitely a first world traveller mindset but I just want to get back on the road now!
Oh, I bought your book recently too! Thanks for the top notch advice and lesson plans in there!
I'm in the process of writing a new one more focused on hybrid working and the numerous topics which come up. Once I leave Serbia I'll get a chance to finish it as I won't be filming in Odesa for a few weeks
Reka=River cognates from Proto Indo-European hroyH-keh. Rain is from the same root. But rain is Keesha in Serbian.

I ALWAYS lick the lid too. :D
I always find I need a bigger yoghurt lol
@@davidostrowski679 Back in the day yoghurt packs in Serbia were bit bigger. It was 0.25L. Today is less then 0,2L and it is mesured in grams which is insane. 1kg is like 0.97L ( x milions of liters every day) . Dairy companies cheat.
Ridiculous! It reminds me of how the big chocolate tins we would get every Christmas have shrunk to baby size!

You gotta work on komplet-lepinja eating technique,
your way of eating it is invaliiid
Eating involves putting food in your mouth, chewing and swallowing. There is no technique
@@davidostrowski679 there is a specific way to eat komplet lepinja, you don't eat it like a hamburger

Try to go to Krusevac. A great city.

Small correction. Yugoslavia came into being before WW2 (after WW1 actually) as a Serbian monarchy. It became a federal socialist republic after WW2.
