Noob Trucker in the UK, bringing other new drivers the heads up on what its really like as a new driver. Milti drop and otherwise.I have been driving commercially for one year now and my vlogs are here to show you what driving a HGV the the UK is really like, I don't delete the bad bits its all raw and as it happens.
I will answer all questions as soon as I can. please not this channel is for entertainment purposes only and not to be used as a guide. I just try to show you haw it is.

Love to watch your videos. Your backing up skills are great, as many have said. As a yank I can’t understand everything you say but maybe that’ll come with time. :) your easy going manner makes these a pleasure to watch.

I was amazed to see the layout of your truck dash board, I worked for a brewery from 1949/50 and beyond, we had a Jowett van, no heating, that was unheard of and an unwarranted luxury, no radio that was also unheard of. and sat nav would have been communicating with aliens.

Hi mate, just wondered if I could kindly ask a bit of help.
I tried recording a road trip of my own, I got a basic dash camera fixed to the rear cab wall in my transit but doesn't cover very well as views a bit forward.
Just wondered in a van where the best place to put it would be to get the cab view?

Hey, scary out there Jay! Take care of yourself. Ever need some advice my old man is an ex Royal Corp Of Transport turned trucker working for Reed Boardall in North Yorkshire. He only works nights cos he hates traffic!! Used to be a tramper but likes home comforts now. I've been out a couple of times with him, slept on the bed while he he got loaded (not personally) on the bay! lol! Never knew I was there in Daventry!! Don't go to Doncaster's prossie Alley!! I was with him one night when they banged on the door and asked if he wanted "a bit of business"!!
I used to live in Reddish just off Longford Road West so it was great to see some familiar places. I could never work out when there is still the dog leg down the bottom of Longford Road West where it becomes Barlow Road. You would h ave thought that council would have purchased the land and straightened it out...Great vids...I think you are an example of a good lorry driver - stand your ground when you need to but play fair to other drivers...theres many a driver could learn a lesson from you.

Master class in reversing mate. Almost as good as me. Today I reversed my tank trailer around a nearly 90 degree blind corner and bossed it in one with about 15 operators watching me. I felt like jumping out the cab and shouting Come on !!!! Lol. Quality driving mate. Love seeing what others are up to in the day.

My dad used to drive Hgv trucks like you by he had to give up after crashed the truck and was 8cm away from a telephone pole which could have killed him. It was a BRAND new co op lorry and now it’s a right off.
My sister was in the cab but luckily only had a broken foot, my dad had bad cuts and bruises with 2 broken ribs but he’s better now.
Please drive safe there are some arseholes out there.
If your ever driving in oxford stay away from cowley it’s a bad area and very high crime rate.

We had our curtains done like that if it happens again look for insulation tape on your side guards that means your trailer been tagged by spotters

I have enough trouble reversing my Vectra Estate. I'd get frazzled doing your job.
That's a ball ache but atleast they didn't slash right down the length of the curtain stopping you from driving. Had a chap opening up my back doors whilst I was doing a delivery luckily I had to go back to the truck for my second pallet and the prat was trying to pick the lock on the back doors. keep safe in those laybys bud.

Just what you need,wake up to find some arsehole as slashed the curtain,didn't look to bad so hopefully an easy repair.makes you think what goes on while drivers are sleeping.be safe mate.

The places they send Class 2 drivers really makes me wonder if it's just worth going straight for class 1 after passing the class 2.

Multi-dropping.... Been there and fuck that. Done it in a 7.5t, class 2 rigid and artics. Bad enough dropping in industrial estates without having to do residential addresses as well.

I know what youre saying about pronunciations. Im originally from Manchester but now live in Buckinghamshire. It is pronounced toaster. Theres a belter around here called Cogenhoe, which is pronounced cookner, its taking a while but I take the piss & say it as its spelt just to drive people up the wall!!!

brewing up on a gas burner in your cab is really bad news you should only use these in a well ventilated area

Must be horrible with no rear camera? I drive a sprinter but it has a box on the back, like a luton and having rear camera is like heaven!

yep Theft in the UK is rampant, drivers hate working there, I used to manage a couple of trucks EU->GB->EU... and let me tell you ITS horrible, they steal like crazy, and its not really only in "Free" parking spots.. it has happened in paid parking places and also happened a couple of time RIGHT in front of the actual loading/unloading place, so yeah from my personal experience the UK and Spain are hell for HGV drivers, France is right behind them...
How come you lifted up the bonnet? I just check the levels on my trucks screen.
Because of so many reasons
I check the coolant once a week as it does not tell you until it's low, my truck tells me when it wants oil and how much to put in, i can't see a single reason to make lifting the bonnet on a modern truck part of your daily checks. I suppose everybody has their own routine.
ElroyHarvey I know my place of work make checking under the hood a must do! maybe check for leaks or any damage. Maybe someone decided to put something under there whilst you were sleeping. Hmm you never know unless you check!
+Matt N exactly it's not something I would skip or rely on a computer to tell me if something isn't right. Sensors can fail.

There’s more skill required driving a large rigid opposed to an artic. I drive both and prefer an artic any day of the week. Most class 1 drivers can’t do more than 3 hits , multi drop as in 3+ are the most experienced and better drivers . IMO
I want to move a rigid the other day, my head was hurting after haha. Iv been doing 9+ Multi in the Artic Don't mind multi drop.

skater nick when you get into large towns and cities they at're bild round shopping mall's and regardless of whether you are in Aberdeen or Aberystwyth they are the same all the local wee shops are gone. You had a nice friendly record shop a butcher a fish shop a sweet shop a news agent's a handy tool shop. Now you have a supermarket and Virgin with staff that are so fed up they really don't care.
