    Great video. Thank you! But one questions still remains - which ball do you install in this receiver?

    • @ScottLawPhotography
      @ScottLawPhotography  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Depends on what you are towing. Different size balls fit different size trailers. Remember though that the towing capacity of the Trailhawk without the towing kit from the manufacturer is 2000 lbs.

    I'm wondering how many inches the bottom of the channel is to the ground thanks. But mines a limited not sure if this can even be done with 2016 Cherokee limited?

    • @ScottLawPhotography
      @ScottLawPhotography  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Trailhawk is supposed to have more clearance than the limited, by about an inch or so. The advantage when adding this hitch to the Trailhawk is that it already has a knockout in the rear bumper so it gives a very clean look. With any of the others you would have to cut away part of your bumper and if not done correctly would certainly leave an ugly opening.

      On a trailer?

    • @ScottLawPhotography
      @ScottLawPhotography  ปีที่แล้ว

      Without the Trailer Tow package your Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk has a pulling capacity of 2000 lbs. So if the jet ski's plus the trailer are below 2000 lbs you should be fine according to the specs that I've read. But you should check for yourself, as I'm not responsible for this information.

    When you had the bumper cover off. Did you happen to see a gray connector for the hitch plug? Etrailer told me that jeep sometimes installs the harness at the factory.

    Thank you. Very helpful Video. Got mine installed without too much problem by following the steps in the video. Did you see four small metal clips came out when you had the bumper cover off? I do not know where they belong. Thank you again.

    • @ScottLawPhotography
      @ScottLawPhotography  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't remember a lot of fine details of it, but I know that there were several clips involved. In my case it seems that all of them stayed in place for the reassembly. Sorry, I know that's not much help, but if you have four small clips that you don't know where they belong you could try watching my video closely again and seeing if that helps and/or just making a close inspection with some good lighting. Good luck and I'm glad you liked the video and got yours done.

    they say without tow package a regular v6 is rated at 2000lb and with tow pack it is 4500 lb. Have you ever priced having complete tow package done for yours?

    • @ScottLawPhotography
      @ScottLawPhotography  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The 2000 lb limit is what I understand also and no I haven't checked on the price to get the full tow package, but I now have the wiring harness for the trailer connection and I'm going to have that installed by a dealer, so I'll probably ask them then.

    • @ejbashwinger81
      @ejbashwinger81 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know its 4 months later lol...but to make it 4500lbs compliant, you'll have to add things in the transmission and engine compartment. But I believe it would be around 2k for everything to do

    Would this work on a 2019 Jeep Cherokee Lattitude?

    • @ScottLawPhotography
      @ScottLawPhotography  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Trailhawk has a cutout with an easily removable filler for where the hitch goes, the Lattitude does not have that, but I believe, though I'm not certain, that if you order the correct kit for the Lattitude you get a template for cutting out the opening and something that goes around that cut out to give you a clean and nice looking edge. Make sure you get the right one. Other than that, I believe it will work for the Lattitude, but I have never tried it. Good luck.

    Just got told be dealership it take 6 hours with wiring harness to install it. Am I missing something or are lying ???

    • @ScottLawPhotography
      @ScottLawPhotography  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The dealer will do the hitch install "by the book". This video shows a work around that makes it much less time and effort, but there is a small risk that some part of the plastic bumper could get some small damage. So you need to be careful. The "by the book" method is much slower because they have to remove a lot more parts to get to it. I had the dealership install the wiring harness because I wanted it done right without voiding any warranties or putting me at risk for starting a fire. That is also a laborious process and they took three hours to do that. 6 hours total is probably about right if you have them do both the hitch and the wiring. My method took on just the hitch took less than an hour including recording it. If you have help and decent tools, like I did, you could probably do it in 30 minutes.

  • @allenfackler
    @allenfackler 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Trust me. If you have a 2019 Trailhawk, you might want to take it in. This half-hour job becomes a 6 hour job, because you have to take the whole bumper off. A total PITA, undoing all of the clips and screws that hold the plastic pieces together, in almost impossible to reach places.
