    This is one of the most disturbing cases 😞 Without that video they all would have walked….

    • @greenman6141
      @greenman6141 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Even WITH the video, it took Mr Arbery's mother constant pushing, and help from community organisations to get the police to pay any attention. Big surprise, given who the DA was.
      Exactly the same thing as happened when Courtney Clemmy killed Christian Obumseli. Only Clemmy is just an internet porn girl, not the DA's best buddy.
      Still even she got to walk away with no charges, and not just leave the state, but fly to Hawaii..for a quick detox before the keystone cops thought to perhaps check her blood.
      Fortunately the prosecutors on Mr Arbery's case were extraordinary. The lead prosecutor in court was so brilliant, that even watching the entire trial, I didn't understand what she was up to, until she did her Closing.
      Also fortunately, the Judge was someone of real caliber. Articulate, measured, and who understood how and why this case was so important.
      The defense attorneys tried so hard to be racially divisive - the jury of 11 white and one African American, white Georgians. The defense attorneys assumed that would mean the whites would be bad people. Assumed that meant they would be racists, like their clients. They weren't. They followed the law.
      I've noticed that people pick attorneys who are like themselves. Aggressive sexists, pick aggressive sexists. White collar criminals pick...expensive lawyers who often turn out to be criminals (Giuliani, Alina Habba, Borish Epschtyn).
      The 3 killers in this case, picked lawyers who were willing to behave disgracefully.
      The woman attorney who represented the elder McMurderer, she had been doing teaching work at a law college before she took on this case. Her position was terminated afterwards.

    For people who are interested in this case...or even just in superb prosecution..you don't really need to watch the entire trial - though the entire trial is available on TH-cam.
    There are really 3 parts that catch the most stunning elements.
    1. When Travis McMichael takes the stand. You don't even really need to listen to him being "questioned" by his attorney. It is repulsive and very hard to take.
    But absolutely DO watch the prosecutor question him.
    It will seem...perplexing.
    She asks him very simple questions and he repeats the same rehearsed blather that he said when his attorney was asking questions. What she does is, unusual.
    2. The Prosecutor's Closing and her rebuttal to the Closings of the three defense attorneys.
    It is in these two parts of the trial, in which she speaks directly to the jury, that the brilliance of her cross examination of Travis McMichael, the trigger puller, becomes clear.
    Though I still am stunned at how sure she must have been.
    What she did, her strategy, which got them all convicted, rested so much upon the replies that Travis McMichael made to her questions, I still am just amazed at how well she understood what he was like, and what he would say. Because she used his OWN defense to convict him.
    She let him say EXACTLY what he wanted to say. She didn't challenge him. Never sought to catch him out. She just let him talk and talk. And he hanged himself.
    The way she takes his own words to prove that what they all did was murder, and what's more, that they all knew perfectly well it was murder, and so instantly started lying about it.
    3. The Judge's remarks at the sentencing. He spoke so intelligently. He grasped who and what these people were.
    They and their attorneys went on and on and on about "the crime in our area" which they implied was the justification for the murder, and that it was all "outsiders" coming in to commit crime. The judge pointed out that THEY were responsible for virtually ALL the crime in their neighborhood , as well as far and away the worst.
    Travis McMichael, in addition to murdering an innocent jogger, pumped shot into the house front and front door of a family with small children. He did it about noon on a Sunday. Precisely when they could all have expected to be home. The family were so horrified, and disgusted by the reaction of many of their neighbors, that they sold their home and moved.
    Anyway, even if you are not interested in this case and trial for its own reasons, but would like to see some wonderful and powerful legal work in action - and some people showing that the US has great people and legal minds working for public servants wages - watch those 3 trial segments.
    You will not be disappointed

    • @ny2379
      @ny2379 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Easy. Let’s say you were walking down the street and two guys walked up to you, they aren’t arm but have your gun concealed. They demand your wallet, you refuse and they grab a hold of you. In the back of you mind you know you have a concealed weapon and you know if they’re able to wrestle you to the ground there’s a chance your weapon gets seen by one of them and it’s a greater chance they will both over power you and get your weapon and possibly use it on you. At that point you then become scared for your life. Critical thinking is not that difficult

      How can McMichael fear for his life when he is the one holding the weapon?
      Ans: He cannot. We all know it. If McMichael did fear, it’s his own fault. His piss poor military skills are showing too. When you hold the weapon, said weapon can always be turned on you. When you hold the weapon, never get within arms reach of the target. McMichael acted idiotically. By his prejudice and racist bias, chasing and confronting Arbery, he forced Ahmaud to fight. This case still bothers me. Jackie Johnson is still walking free. This murder trial was the one trial that got me interested in true crime. I watched the trial live every day, my very first time doing that. Something jaw-dropping happened every day of that trial-from Bryan’s lawyer making racist requests and trying to declare a mistrial nearly every day, to one lawyer commenting on Ahmaud’s long, dirty toenails, and all the neighbor witnesses and police witnesses who testified to the crazy things that happened either on the day of the murder or in the weeks leading up to it. This is heartbreaking!! I 'm going through a similar situation in Macon Ga (Bibb County). Multiple deputies tased and killed my schizophrenic son while in their custody and at one point while he was handcuffed! He was arrested for criminal trespassing. The GBI has ruled my son's death a homicide, but the deputies have not been arrested and Sheriff David Davis, or the DA won't allow our family to view the camera footage, or body camera. They won't even release information to our attorneys! They killed my son and now it feels like they are mentally abusing our family, and protecting the deputies!! I am beyond frustrated! We deserve to know exactly what happened to him and who killed him!! It's on camera so they should RELEASE THE FOOTAGE!! This happened 5/25/24 and we're still waiting to see the camera footage. It seems like the legal system in Bibb county are too busy covering each others backs, and aren't concerned about the victims family.

He got shot by racist men with hate and anger in their hearts. Your logic and way of thinking implies that everyone who walked into that property without permission got shot, which we know didn't happen. Only the black man got shot. FYI, Travis went onto that property without the owner, Mr. English, giving the permission to do so multiple times. Mr. English, the owner, never met or spoke with Travis and/or his dad, so he never gave them permission to go onto his property, but they did anyways. So why didn't they get shot. Travis and his father had about the same right as you and I defending that property and that is no right. They don't even own any property in that street. They were renting.
