That is actually accurate. Seniors rags their first years. It is a fun thing if it's done in a constructive way, it's a nice way to bond, but at times it's also done in seriously bad ways and then that becomes a problem.

It was prevalent in 90s called ragging.but now there's anti ragging law which is very strict in india.because many students died due to the ragging in india in that time
and yeah ragging is a thing in Indian Colleges, it used to be a very big and serious issue back then but with new reforms in laws it has reduced quite a lot, although it is still prevelant in many medical and engineering colleges. Some of them do it ironically just to break the ice with the juniours while others are sadistic bozos who cross every limit just like the ones shown in the movie.
Hey.. Just a suggestion.. If you have a question.. Try watching the movie.. Whether it's Indian or Filipino.. German or English.. Shows or movies generally answer the questions you have about the characters of the movie itself.. For example.. If a movie is 3 hours long(Damn) and in the first 30 minutes you are wondering "Hey is he a bad guy?".. 99.99999% chances are.. That you're going to find out in the next 2 hours and 30 minutes.. Without looking away talking over it asking.. And then missing out where you looked away and then ask again and miss out again the previous scene you looked away talked over.. You know.. Not everything needs to be a "Can you guess if Sam Jackson is gonna show up with an eye patch in the end?"- Moment..
