Truly a quote to live by.
I went to Copenhagen for just 2 days. I ended up hanging out with people from 2 continents, seeing the city, partying, karaoke. I NEVER saw it coming! I thought it‘d be a quick city trip!
      It ended up being amazing!

I spent 6 months travelling in one country and still feel like there are so many places and things unexplored. For me I'd rather travel deep and take it slowly; I learn and experience more from travelling one country for a few months than visiting dozens of countries in one month. Just my own perspective, I don't really care how many countries I've been to - the number of countries doesn't define the growth I gain from travel. And I don't always agree a person who's travelled 100 countries is better travelled than a person who's only been to 10 countries. But so many people nowadays are turning travelling as a competition, or something like "done, been to this country, corss it from list, where next?".

I know a lot of people still think that it is something impressive to travel solo as a woman across the world! The truth is, that there are more women doing it then you can imagine! Women who cycle all around the world, even walking around the world, camping, hiking, volunteering and traveling OVER LAND without flying on a little budget to see as much as possible! Traveling is so diverse and everyone has it's own speed of traveling. Everyone has a different Idea of what to achive from it. Some are running away from life some towards it. Don't care what other people do, just do your thing!

*My goal was to visit every continent before I die. I've only traveled through Europe and Latin America, and of course, within the U.S. I would love to some day go to India, Japan, Morocco and Samoa. Maybe, some day, when I retire. If and when I do travel again, I went to take my time and enjoy each place. At least spend a week in each country. Enjoy the cuisine and visit the sites.*

I got teary twice while watching this. The first time was during your Cuba story when you illuminated the gorgeousness of the human spirit. So touching, and that story does not get told enough! The second was when you made yourself completely vulnerable to the world and talked about your depression and the 'dark night of the soul' moment you experienced. I know those dark nights can extend far longer, however it's super inspiring to hear you so articulate, so compassionate, so aware, and so open. I feel for you Cassie and all you've been through. Thank you for sharing your story. This is what truth and beauty looks like.

I love the solo female travel side of this experience but what about her carbon footprint? the time spent with the locals? To me she has been travelling way too fast, not experiencing it enough because she was jetlaged and had 2 days or so only in the country which took her some 3 months and hundreds of dollars to get a visa to ...
Was it just to break the record and create the buzz?

I think it is wierd how Cassie reacts to negative comments. I get it, negative comments can hurt someone but not explaining it and shutting someone off by saying someone is just jelouse doesn't really gives a good impression.
And Noemie really has a point and is just saying what she thinks what you might have missed out on is just her way of saying that she wouldn't want to travel that way and that is fair enough! I agree on that, I wouldn't either. No jelousy here as traveling is my life right now. Just be okay with the fact that not everyone sees the joy in rushing from country to country!

I am a woman, travelled to 40 something countries, few of them solo. I visited few of them many times, because I love them, I dont go somewhere just to have next country on my list, instead I sometimes prefer to go to the same great place again. I dont even post photos on fb or anywhere else from most of my travels. I dont need recognition for that. When I hear somebody travelled like this, just to get world record and giving speeches about it, the first thing that comes to my mind is neurotism. When she started talking I knew that she must've done it for wrong reasons. To feel better, to feel the best, to achive something that others will admire you for. It's neurotic. There is no point in rushing through countries like this. Always ask yourself: If nobody knew about what I'm doing and I got no recognition for that, would I still do it? If no, then you are doing it for wrong reasons.

The point of travelling the world is to experience each place in its entirety. Your reason for exploration should not be a world record and it doesn't matter if you are male or female its about the experience you had and what it means to you. If you were so scared then why would you go if you felt that you were in danger. Truth is you're gonna be in danger anywhere you go no matter what gender.

    Last final Quoting:
We are given this magnificent minds, and these powerful bodies, and it doesn´t matter where you come from, your monetary status, your religion, your age, how others judge you, what your friends and family say you can or can´t do. It doesn´t even matter what your dreams are. None of that matters. What matters is your truth.
You´re either here on this earth for one more hour, or you´re here for 100 more years, but the beauty is you´ll never know.
The most effective way to do it, is to do it. Nothing else matters but the next step you take, and the respect and growth that you owe to yourself. So find that one thing that brings you just a little bit of excitement and devote yourself to it 150%.

I was disappointed to learn that someone can travel to 196 counties and have nothing to say other than I am a young girl who traveled on someone else's dime and all I could say was how scared I was doing it. I wish you had stories about how the locals of those "scary counties" would live their lives in those "scary" places. The girls who didn't have only 14 days to live there under someone else's dime. Had to go out to work, buy food , or go to school and come back to a house that doesn't have a "in case of bomb room" while transported by armed guards. There are a lot of ways to get on the Guinness World Records that isn't an accomplishment. You are on the same list as the guy who put the most straws in his mouth, or the fastest time a person can enter a suit case, or most spoons balanced on a face, and many other useless so called records. My fear is that you did all of that and you didn't learn anything and it is just such a wasted opportunity.

Let's say she took a flight between each country and then onward ground transport from the arrival airport to a destination within the country. The travel alone would take up about 195 days of the 547 days (18 months). So now we're down to 349 useful days to actually engage with a country and its people, nature and culture. But those 349 days get divided between 196 countries, giving her about 1.78 days on average per country. Not even enough time to get to know the layout of the arrival airport in each country. About 36% of her trip was spent in airports, planes and taxis - I guess she must think that these are the aspects of travel that are the most enlightening.

Twobirdsbreakingfree we don't know what she did and didn't experience or what she did and didn't see on any of those days, so how are we to determine that the time she spent wasn't at least somewhat valuable??? You're assuming- stop.

    • @craigcloneclone
      @craigcloneclone 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Twobirds is analyzing the numbers which is always interesting. I'm sure Cassie could give an amazing presentation about the airports and planes because her taxi story was great. 195 "travel days" is a testament to Cassies endurance. Also, she said enlightenment can happen anywhere. Perhaps even here in TH-cam comments!

Don't get the negative comments. It was a project, a complex project, that she wanted to undertake. People do stuff like that. If you want to say someone is a dry speaker go to almost any conference and you'll get the range of good to challenging speakers. Otherwise, it falls into the category I call they were there and I wasn't. It would take more than 14 minutes or whatever to really cover it regardless of who went.

I personally have traveled the world solo as a female and it is EXTREMELY scary and takes a very strong willed person to do it. Maybe she didn't get "enough time" to stay in each country to experience it, but unless you have actually traveled to the other side of the world alone, personally, your opinions are irrelevant. The WHOLE entire trip is an adventure to include the flying, cabs, layovers ect. Its not just about the destination that makes it an experience, its the journey from start to finish where you meet amazing people to share stories with. I applaud her for breaking records and would like to see anyone who is negatively commenting on this to try to do something comparable. Also, when you are traveling alone, you will be pulled out of depression because reality sets in when you see how impoverished the entire world is in comparison to Americans!!! That reality alone can pull you out of depression and break your entitled mindset, which usually is the cause of depression. As for "not spending enough time in each country", each region of the world has its own different but similar vibes so you can get a good feel for the Middle East or South East Asia by hopping around to surrounding countries. Traveling the world alone as a female is very dangerous and it takes a lot of risk and spiritual strength! Also, being creative to get sponsors to help pay for you is a way of making and earning money. Most people don't have creative insight into accomplishing their goals which is way you will not be breaking world records. God bless Cassie! I have respect and empathy for her :)

I have been able to travel to several countries for my age & that is all thanks to my PRIVILEGE of being Canadian and the sacrifice of my immigrant parents who gave up their careers back home so my sister and I could be where we stand now. I 100% acknowledgment this privilege. I think she also needs to acknowledge this BIG privilege of the passport she hold. Also we can go to 100 counties & so on, but my biggest gratitude is the connections & acts of service I have been able to do to make the world a better place. At the end of the day, even if we go to just one country, but make someone smile and change the life of someone, that’s more important and all worthwhile rather than going to 100+ countries.
