Don’t panic. AE will still open these. But to restore it, right-click on your file. Choose “Open With”. Then you should be able to navigate to and select AE.

Sorry, I’ve been swamped. If you save a new user preset, with a “searchable” name (e.g. “find me.ffx”) does it show up in After Effects? If it does, then search for this file on your C: drive. If it doesn’t then your user presets are defaulting to the wrong folder (like mine).

I don't have a Support Files folder, I just have User Libraries, User Presets, and Video Libraries. This is a fresh install though, I usually work in Davicini Resolve but After Effects has a plugin I need. And yes, I closed out of After Effects while doing this

My guess is that you’re trying to install an older plug-in. Maxon have updated all their installers (including red giant). Their support is pretty good at resolving issues though: www.maxon.net/en/support-center

When you go to save an animation preset, do you get a warning that you're not saving in the right place? I do. It's to do with how AE has installed everything. If that happens, not the location listed in the warning and drop your presets into that location. I ended up making a shortcut in the "wrong folder" to make it easier to get to the right one.
The installer won't. It's a mini-program designed to do the installation for you. From your downloads folder, double-click it to open. It will then check it is installing in the right location (you can check it is pointing to the latest version of After Effects). When you confirm this, it will run and when you next open After Effects, you should see the Twixtor.

S_Shake is part of Sapphire Effects by @borisfx I beleive. The preset is expecting to use that effect. Hopefully it's just a case of re-installing Sapphire effects, but it is a pay-for plugin borisfx.com/documentation/sapphire/ae/shake/

RAR files are compressed files. If you have a plugin as .rar, you’ll most likely need to extract it. You’ll need to use a program like Winrar to extract it. Then you should be good to install it

I hope this preset is worth it, Looks is part of Red Giant’s suite: www.maxon.net/en/red-giant/magic-bullet Looks is a colour grading effect, so you can probably get away with replacing it with the included Lumetry effect.

When you have one file explorer open, go back to the start menu and open “My Documents”. A new window will open to that area and you can navigate to where your files are.

That’s strange. Are you using a network computer? Are you definitely looking at the drive where the program is installed? After Effects also creates a folder in documents. It’s not that one
@@ShiveringCactus I did that. I selected both Sapphire things to install in the same folder (and drive of course) but still it didn't show up. My ssd drive is empty, just my folder with everything like media I use for editing.
This latest version of After Effects (2023) seems to be causing issues with some 3rd party installers. I had to manually move some AEscripts plugins and wait for others to release an updated updated. Might be worth checking with @BorisFXco - their support team are really nice and have helped me in the past.

That's strange that it's opening. Normally once placed in the correct folder, FFX files are just listed in the user presets. Could you have possibly loaded it into the old folder and not the latest one?

“Looks” is probably referring to Magic Bullet Looks. This is a plugin From Maxon’s Red Giant. Maxon have their own installer which you’ll need to use.

In most cases, yes it should. I have presets that are years old and still work fine.

You need to install a program like winrar. That will allow you to extract the file.

The red X just means you have to register the plug-in. The company you bought it from will send you a code to unlock it.

That’s strange. Are you using a network computer? Are you definitely looking at the drive where the program is installed? After Effects also creates a folder in documents. It’s not that one
where the hack are yall ppl getting support folder because i cant find it anywhere in file explorer besides im using after effects 2020
Are you looking in My Documents or on your C drive?

There should be settings for Sapphire to install in the drive you want, but they do have to install in the same folder as After Effects
@@ShiveringCactus I did that. I selected both Sapphire things to install in the same folder (and drive of course) but still it didn't show up. My ssd drive is empty, just my folder with everything like media I use for editing.
This latest version of After Effects (2023) seems to be causing issues with some 3rd party installers. I had to manually move some AEscripts plugins and wait for others to release an updated updated. Might be worth checking with @BorisFXco - their support team are really nice and have helped me in the past.

how do you install aex on mac?
I don’t have a Mac, but try this: On a Mac, the plugin location is usually in Applications/Adobe After Effects/Plugins
@@ShiveringCactus After some digging it turns out .aex files don't work on mac, only .plugin. Thanks anyway.

Il est difficile d'imaginer ce qui se passe. Recevez-vous des messages d'erreur ? Le plugin n'apparaît-il tout simplement pas dans le menu Effets d'After Effects ?

for me the .ffx file opens with after effects 2021 and not the same icon that you have
That's strange that it's opening. Normally once placed in the correct folder, FFX files are just listed in the user presets. Could you have possibly loaded it into the old folder and not the latest one?
