P - "I want to witness or perceive the product of my labor, for I believe that it is essential to my life purpose."
I - "I want to feel free, maintain my sense of childlike wonder, and follow my passions regardless of task difficulty or societal value."
L - "I want to get better, to adapt to the task difficulty and feel that growth in the end product as well as within myself."
E - "I want to be perceived as capable and powerful in the eyes of my peers, society at large, or those I have established a relationship with."
S - "I want to do this for the sake of becoming, through all other types of motivation above and a gradual shift in mindset from 'wanting' to 'being'."
**All of these** are equally important, not inherently good or bad in themselves, but that's hard to grasp sometimes even if you think you know it. Recent spiritual awakenings or deep-dives into the self may lead to a struggle with "guilt of wanting" but hey, that is what makes us human. Intent goes a long way when combined with Will and Creative Energy.

Definitely. The only criticism i have of that summary is that i don't think Pragmatic motivation has to necessarily be for yourself. You can want things to exist for the benefit of others (this video is an example of that). That might be perceived as part of external motivation, but the line is easily drawn by whether one would be fine with the thing being published anonymously. I have a strong attachment to the world being good. So i want for myself and others to create things which make it so without benefiting us personally.

@@ouroborista Very well said. On that note, I intend to conduct a wealth of research as part of my Classics and Folklore Studies majors in a few years. the discourse I engage in and the discoveries I make alongside my colleagues should be communicated clearly, without any paywalls or shady shit from publishers.
I firmly adhere to the principles of Open Access literature. Acquiring knowledge and distributing it for the world's amelioration - seeing my blood, sweat, and tears encapsulated in a thesis paper - through the arts and humanities.
This is pragmatic motivation and, oh, I pray it never fades.

I enjoyed this, a lot. It harkens back to a similar read I got my hands on by Damien Echols, 'High Magick'. Lots of intriguing energy work and directed intent practices. Lovely model, very well explained.

Huh, thanks! Yeah i do think this gets the idea across, but i still want to make a cleaner write-up of the system eventually. I wasn't aware of Echols, he sounds interesting. My understanding of ceremonial magick is inchoate at best though.
