Very helpful and well done. Thank you!
Great content 👍.
I have one of these and sort of like it. Positives include fairly responsive and good screen. A major failing for me is the RV890's inability to display 'Tracks'. I really hope Garmin address this with a firmware update.
What makes and brand is the adapter w USB ports ?
Can you adjust the unit for when you have dropped your trailer and only in your truck and not be limited do to length or height?
You bet. You can use this as a standalone GPS without towing.
Two questions.. First.. Brand new unit. Just opened the box and looked at the manual.. yep.
Not covered.. Can I charge the unit in my house using the micro cable connected to either the back of my computer or to a wall wall wart.. I have a higher powered wall wart as well as the phone chargers. 2nd question.. can I program a trip using my desktop rather than finger entering on the unit itself..?? Thanks.. I like your videos and this one helped me solidify my decision on the RV890
Hello WJ Ess,
Thank you for checking out our video. You can charge the unit in the house but you will need a AC-DC adapter to do it. Garmin does make an approved one for the units. If you go with an aftermarket AC-DC adapter it could charge slower.
You can import data, such as waypoints and routes, in a GPX file format using the Garmin Drive app. From your phone you just select a GPX file and open it in the Garmin Drive app then follow the onscreen instructions. As far as on the unit itself, you need to import your waypoints or routes to the unit. Then select where To? then Saved. Also you can
select the icon with the 6 dots then select Navigation then Trip Planner then select Saved Trips. Your imported routes should be there. Hope this helps.
@@Jimmy2Tech Thank you..
How do you program the Garmin to locate all the gas stations along your trip?
Hello Doug,
You don't really program that in, when ever you are looking for fuel you can ask it by voice where is the next truck stop or gas station and it will come up with ones along your route. Then you select the one you want and it will add that to your route. You can also go to the menu section and check there. If you connect to your phone you can get current traffic alerts, weather, and also notifications.
@@Jimmy2Tech Thanks!
thanks for the info, the screen is really shiny, so I get lots of glare and reflections.
any way to fix that?
Hello Slowboat,
We have had luck with anti glare film in the past for the screens on our boat. I don't believe there is one specifically for this GPS but you can adapt other ones like this one.. amzn.to/2WTgSzr Hope this helps.
@@Jimmy2Tech thx I'll give it a go.
The problem I'm having and attempting to work out with Garmin and/or RV TripWizard, is to have the unit receive a pre-planned trip (.GPX file) and display that trip properly to navigate from stop-to-stop. If you do pre-planned stops, are you having THIS problem??
Hello Dennyg73,
We have not used preplanned trips on or unit so I can't really say, but Garmin support might be a good resource. Sometimes its a hit and miss though. A better resource is forums like www.irv2.com/forums/f42/new-garmin-rv-890-a-493679-4.html
they have a lot of help from users like us.
The price just went up another $100
Yeah, inflation and price hikes are out of this world! Just keep an eye on it and see if it has a price drop. We do that regularly through amazon.
@@Jimmy2Tech I can see inflation affecting a new device, but this one is already built and on the shelves for a while. That's to show you that they are taking advantage of what's happening.
