I've subscribed to your channel! You seem to be a classic tone junkie as I am! So I'm glad to be a subscriber!

I have a 1965 Super Reverb that I swapped out two of the upper speakers for AlNiCo's out of a '68 Vibrolux. The combo of ceramic and alnico is nice. More bass from the ceramic and more high end chime from the alnico. You may want to find something with equal wattage and speaker efficiency to get the same relative volume. Good luck, I enjoy your channel.

Thanks for the note. Yeah that was an interesting experiment. Speaker choice really does make a huge difference. I used to have a 66 Super Reverb and swapped out the original alnico's for new (in 90s) kendrick ceramic 10s and that was the best sound I ever got out of that. And like an idiot I traded that amp out for something else and will forever wnat that back. I do now have a 64 SR that i love too, with stock Jensens, but somehow I want to find my old 66 if I can ever track that down. No idea how, don't have serial number.

I typically break in a speaker for at least 50 hours (100 is better) I have an bench oscillator driving a matching transformer. I set the frequency to 80HZ and let it run for 2 - 4 days. It really makes a big difference for new speakers. So many people have told me that the new Jensen AlNiCos don't sound like the old ones.....I always say "you've never heard a new one before" The ones from 1959 have thousands of hours of break in on them....

Have you thought about an Alnico 2 magnet speaker instead of Alnico5? Just wondering I loved the video great job but would love to have seen a classic fender guitar play through that classic fender bassman

I've enjoyed your channel and of course superscribed. You asked us out here in TH-cam land to suggest songs. I would appreciate a song I can't seem to get any handle on and that's Liar, made famous by Three Dog Night.

Mixing these magnet types has caused ceramnicilia cirrhosis of the ear. Bad idea, dude.

      Is that a real thing?
