So this basically confirms all the theories about Ghil'lanain; she created the Blight and is directly or indirectly responsible for the Darkspawn. It now makes sense why Solas basically told the Grey Wardens they didn't have a clue what they were doing...
If that’s the case, then Solas sealed what was left of the Blight in the Fade, specifically in the Evanuris’ ‘Golden City’, after he created the Veil, and since it’s practically a magical form of infectious disease, it tainted it Black. So when the Magisters Sidereal including Corypheus entered there, they got infected and spread it throughout Thedas, essentially making it an accident, a massive and apocalyptic accident, but still
My bet is that Andruil got infected by the Blight when she go to the Void and Ghilan'nain experimented with it, infecting Coryphemus, the Architect and the rest with it when they enter into the Black City, and the rest is history.
So this formally confirms that Ghil created the Darkspawn, which was already a popular theory. It also makes sense that her Blight then created a means for the elven gods to communicate outside of their Black City prison, so the "dreams" of the Darkspawn are likely powered by the Evanuris. 7 imprisoned Evanuri, 7 dragon gods (5 of which are defeated), leaving the two gods in DATV tied to the two remaining Dragon Gods. That's what I get from this, anyways. Also ties in to Andraste hearing voices, as she may be an Archdemon's soul a la Kieran. the soul passing ritual seems extremely similar to how Flemeth/Mythal maintains her "immortality", so I have to assume they are linked. I'm guessing Andruil, who's essence appears tied to Sera, now, and I believe is the soul of Dumat/Andruil. Andruil is the Silent Hunter, and Dumat is the Tevinter Dragon God of Silence.
It's also a possibility that the archdemons were nothing more that the mouthpiece for the elven gods while they were imprisoned meaning they could potentially still exist. If they don't exist anymore then that just insinuates that only Gray Wardens can slay gods, since it was they who consumed a divine creation. Honestly it's rather poetic. Undone by your own creation.
I find it a bit strange still. There's no mention of the malignant aspect of the elven pantheon, they were also imprisoned by Solas (in the abyss rather than the heavens) but oddly absent from all of this
@@kallekallessonsThere is still the old Elven writings in Trespasser that talk about them enslaving thousands, these memories don't seem to be from Solas but other elves from that time. There's also the Horror of Hormak that paints a very specific picture of the gods. It's hard because we have heard the tales from the Dalish that make them out to be benevolent. That's the beauty of the story telling in Dragon Age, there's always half truths that can be interpreted different ways. I'm looking forward to seeing these memories in Veilguard more than anything else. The whole lore surrounding the Evanuris is fascinating to me. I hope we get to see the others in the past too. Especially Dirthamen 😊
@@lost_witness_8495 It seems to be implied that they were benevolent if Solas said Ghilanain was the most sensitive of us, something happened that corrupted them in that case. I've only seen the red lyrium idol do that in DA2, the red lyrium in Inquisition was never mentioned to be mentally corrupting people did it? The only other case of corruption is the thing from the void that changed Andruil that made Mythal strike her down. That and the blight could be the same thing I guess or from the same place in the abyss, and it's corrupting them all which would explain why Solas is tryign to stay away from it.
@@kallekallessons I think the blight definitely corrupted their nature, as well as power. They may have started off benevolent but not towards the end. I know they have shown Gillain'nain using the blight as a weapon but I still have a feeling the original source of the blight came from the Titans, perhaps Titan hearts. Whatever the gods discovered from the Titans certainly gave them a boost in power. We have seen blighted creatures are able to influence the blight in different ways. Gillain'nain seems to have mastered blight magic. Red lyrium definitely corrupts too. In Inquisition Dagna explains how red lyrium has the blight. The only real source we have for the Evanuris benevolence really comes from Dalish tales. It's kind of established that the Dalish have misinterpreted a lot of what they think is their history, Vallaslin etc.
There is something about the phrase “us” and later when ghil says “children of the gods” that is making me think there is some familial dynamic going on with the evanuris.
ì've always wondering if they're blood related or if it's just a role they put themselves into. in any case, ghilan'nain is always said to have "married" into the family with andruil.
@@NiaMariaePlays or dirthamen who knows those murals with her and the bear are interesting to me too. I wonder if solas isn’t a sibling to Elgar Nan or something similar. oh dying to know what the other dialogue choice of "try to find a cure" says now- bc it's the crossroads/fade, does how Rook reacts change the memory/the way the spirits re-enact it? AH!
I don't know which idea frightens me more: that Ghilan'nain invented the Blight, or that Ghilan'nain *discovered* the Blight and thought, "Oh, I can make this even more evil." 😨
I’m betting the Blight started in lyrium after the Evanuris put the Stone to sleep. There’s a codex entry about Andruil making herself armour out of “the void,” then disease and corruption spreading across her lands - it would totally make sense for her wife to start playing with the stuff.
No way!! 😭 A few weeks back I guessed depending on how you act in his memories he'll change as a person- as in if you think he was cruel as a rebel he most was. Until I see the other option for the cure chosen I'ma presume I was right

As far as we can tell, only the modern elves depict her as innocent, everything we have learned about her actual past self is that she was basically Dr. Frankenstein empowered by Cthulhu
We know she is definitely a monster and a mad scientist but it threw me when Solas called her the most sensitive of them. Remember the tales of Gillain'nain's apotheosis and how she had an affinity for animals. It just reaffirms the way Bioware spin half truths in their lore surrounding the gods. I love it. It's almost like 2 sides of the same coin. You have the Dalish interpretation of being an animal lover, but flip the coin and she is some crazy Dr Frankenstein experimenting on animals. Imagine what the other Evanuris will be like when the coin is flipped for them !

I can't understand at all how can anyone perceive Solas as anything but a 100% benelovent true god. Ever since Inquisition/Trespasser I'm on board with him, I loved what he did in the past and I love even more what he planned to do and I can never get over the frustration that Rook fucked it all up. Whatever direction the story goes I don't think I will like it, unless they pull a "Solas is the true saviour of Humans, Dwarves, Elves, Qunari and even the Lizard People" it will just be a major disappointment. And I will fanfic myself a reality where Lavellan and Solas saved the world from itself.
Well there is the whole destroying elven civilization and having effectively low and racist opinions about Modren Thedas with the plan to tear down the Beil risking a world wide apocalypse
I love Solas in all looks. I'm kinda disappointed they aren't speaking full Elvhen in these memories. It would've bbeen a cool detail, then you could ask Solas or other spirits about it and decide whether or not to believe and possibly unlock dialouges, scene, etc.
I saw a small fraction of that scene yesterday in a preview. It felt like coming across a picture of a loved one in their teens or early twens, when they were still trying to look extra cool. 😅 I just love the difference in style between an older perhaps more sophisticated Solas and his young rebel-wolf self. And great video btw. I can't wait to see more of his memories!
Oh god, Ghil's VA reminds me of my old chemcial engineering professor. Not the characterization direction i was expecting tbh, but boy did that give me some flashbacks.
With all the new lore about elves, I'm super curious to know if the Maker is an elf as well, considering the Golden City seems to have belonged to them all along. The whole Andrastian religion would probably fall apart if the masses knew...
Not to dissimilar from what would happen if today's modern religions were able to find out the truth (as in what really happened) behind the bible and creation. People romanticize and deitize God to be worshipped. I see God as nothing but a creator
Trying to understand if this implies Ghil created the Blight or if she experimented with something existing and made it worse (like experimenting with a virus can make it more contagious). I personally would prefer the Blight to be smth more than a crazy scientist project, but oh well. Either way, I'm itching to know more! Also, Solas's hair is fine, we all had our haircut experiment phase😅
Personal theory: the Blight started in lyrium, Andruil discovered it (her armour made of the void, followed by disease spreading across her lands), and Ghil decided to play with it, ultimately creating the darkspawn.
i tried not to spoil myself too much for the full scene so i skipped some parts of it, wanna experience it fully once the game is out. tbh this was okay spoiler wise worst spoiler was the in the prologue that someone played without any cuts and THAT SCENE happened, i wasnt ready 😥 i loudly gasped! Im a Bald Solas fan too, but idk i kinda dig it, and am so happy we get to experience some of his back story
k so this seems to imply that ghila"nain created the blight..... meaning the tevinter mages were most likely tainted by the elven gods in the fade and not the maker
Any memory you can share I would be so happy! I love that this create more questions, I can't wait to play the game. I imagine there is a Horror of Hormak situation
Coming back because I had a thought: What if the agent whose POV we are in when viewing these memories is Felassan? (I am delusional and begging, but plllleeeeeease BioWare.)
came here after someone already spoiled entire group in FB without any hiding the pic and took picture of solas' memory and the hair and it honestly annoyed me so I felt like I might as well watch this video now.
My worse fears. The Halla lady seems to have always been a fanatic raised to God Hood due to her power. They probably did fear her creations without her realizing it. Many have theorized this, but I never thought it was so close to being true. Was Myhtal the only decent one?
From Solas perspective she is the only decent one. But he's the worst so it's probably a lot more complicated. I think this is teasing us on the idea that Solas actually kills Mythal the first time to prevent the blight from spreading. When he says they did it it's probably a "look what you made me do" type of deal.
@@imnotmephisto I refuse to believe it. Her most devout, Abelas, would have slain the powerless traitor wolf the moment he walked in Mythals sacred temple. On a serious note, I feel all the Elf Gods (save the forgotten ones) did something important for the world of Thedas and elves that can be seen as "shaping the world", and the years plus accomplishments combined with next to limitless power corrupted them on some level. More than likely when the Dredwolf tricked both sides in the war, Mythal refused to join and was killed by her own fellow gods. It would take Elger'nan to power scale someone who took down the mad Andruil. The trickster would have had to set her up to be jumped. Single fair combat is not his style.
@@agnosticgamerdarthdracarys5859 I can't argue with "Solas won't shoot the ones". That's fair. But it doesn't have to be a fight. The reason Solas was so effective as a trickster is because people trust him. She may have had her guard down. As far as Abelas goes. I think they shouldn't have included that because it leaves too many unanswered questions about why he's not telling you who the dreadwolf is. But as far as Abelas, again, your boy had 1 job. 1 job. He probably helped Solas and didn't even realize he had just bodied Mythal.
I think I would prefer a braided hair or something, he looks so unnatural 😂 I think it's pretty obvious now that it was indeed Evanuris who created the blight sheesh
Also i don't understand why they aren't speaking in elven here ? If this was thousands and thousands of years ago, they should be speaking in elven and we should be reading subtitles
Wow late I didn’t even know this video was out so probably not gonna get this noticed but the reason why solas has hair is cause he’s young it’s been confirmed that the older ancient elves are they are bald so this video is basically showing ghilian nan joining the Evanuris so this set up could be like hundreds of yrs before solas actually went to war with the evanuris
honestly the only thing that i dislike about the game so far is how the character's mouths move when they speak it like doesnt match i hope theyve somehow tweaked that since this preview
He had hair?!! Also love how we gain more insight into Solace and why he created the Veil - especially if the Elvhen actually created the Taint that made the Blight. Does that make the Old Gods actually transformed Elvhen? We saw in their trailer they can shapeshifter so can it be they are stuck in that form due to contracting the taint? Or is it Ghil’s test subjects?
It's almost certainly a tonal decision (either way his agent dies - but does he try to heal her first or not?), helping to influence Solas's character arc in the game.
If spirits/the fade is involved in showing the memories, the viewer’s expectations would absolutely be able to influence what is shown. The real question is whether our choice has any impact on what actually happened in the past, or perhaps just our relationship with Solas.
Damn, the bald elf had a really cool hairstyle. Can I pick that one for Rook? I was wondering how the devs would coax sympathy for Solus out of us players. Now I know.
I wouldn't if it was permanent, but this was a long time ago, in a hight of fancy elvem shenanigans. Not surprised he took a rebel haircut.
I hope we find all of this out. After the war he seems to refer to the evanuris as them but here in his youth he says us. I’m so ready for this game haha.
Omg as a lover of The Horror of Hormak, I'm so so so glad we get more of Ghilan'nain's creepy experiments!!!!! I'm so excited
I will be SMASHING that “try a cure” because bellara sassing that is gonna piss me off 💀
oh dying to know what the other dialogue choice of "try to find a cure" says now- bc it's the crossroads/fade, does how Rook reacts change the memory/the way the spirits re-enact it? AH!
With the cure she ends up being something like a grey warden...maybe.
This game is going to make me cry so much, and I’m certain most of it is going to be because of Solas.
SAAAAAMMME
Y'all talking about Solas' hair, but here I am admiring the glory that is the Halla-Mommy
The design didn't look intimidating to me at all
I don't know which idea frightens me more: that Ghilan'nain invented the Blight, or that Ghilan'nain *discovered* the Blight and thought, "Oh, I can make this even more evil." 😨
Until I see the other option for the cure chosen I'ma presume I was right
Ghil looks like she'd fit right in with Orlais. Makes me wonder if Orlsian masks were also another concept copied by humans from the elves.
His hair really should be braided or at least tied back... Falling loose the hair would either fall to one side or part in the middle.
i agree! in his concept art from inquisition i think he had some kind of braids and honestly i think it gave him a very "wild" look, suitable for a young wolf i believe
@@melantha5006 I really don't mind the hair, it looks good on him. I just can't help but nitpick about the lack of a hair tie. lol
@@MarieCurtis92 same!
It is pre-veil, maybe the elves used magic on their hair XD
Ghilan'nain sounds more like a university lecturer than the innocent girl she's depicted as in stories.
As far as we can tell, only the modern elves depict her as innocent, everything we have learned about her actual past self is that she was basically Dr. Frankenstein empowered by Cthulhu
@@SethKyros she definitely is more than Mama Stag
@@SethKyrosit actually make more sense the elves imagined the gods like themselves
@@lost_witness_8495 even solas what was he actually a god of? He’s clearly a member of the pantheon so I wonder what role he played.
Thank you for sharing Kala! I was not expecting to be interacted with by the memory, this is awesome!! And hope for future Solavellan fanfiction of Memory Solas reacting to the Inquisitor visiting
Honestly, I like that he has changed over the years.
I used to think that the blight was an effect of having "sundered" the titans. And that Ghi just took advantage of it for her experiments....This is MAJOR. 😮
Still recoving from the lore reveal that elfs just become bald when they hit a certain age and that has been consistent since Origins.
I thought I was regaining a sense of normalcy in my life again, then boom, egg mullet.
I hecking knew it! Been calling the Blight as an evanuris creation that helped lead Solas to the imprisonment of them since DAI and all his snarky comments about the Wardens.
The Dread Mullet
i, for one, support our community boyfriend in his bad haircut era 😂 this has crazy implications tho.....
I think we are getting some terrifying villains in this game. Wonderful video!
I imagine that Veilguard will be more of a Boss Gauntlet as each chapter or level ends with one of the Elven Gods being a boss, and the All Father is the final boss of the game.
@@samflood5631So while this is possible I think only Elgar’nan and Ghilan’nain broke free from there prison and are the only ones who will be in the game
@@samflood5631and people say this game is gonna bad that sounds like a real fun time boss rushing elven gods
It's not Solas's memory, it's a memory of Solas
Shared to the fb DA group! I labeled spoilers and cautions and spoilers for spoilers, and I hope no one comes for me about the comment section because I warned spoilers for that, too. Thank you so much for giving me next hyper fixation from this stuff-- Ghilan'nain's VA lol sounds similar to Jean Gilpin to me
Pls at least one another memory...oh gods, I'm dying, I want to see them all...
I personally love his hair, it matches with concepts and his eyebrows in DAI
absolutely love this fragment of memory it's eerie to see so many thing in the past with rebellion and evanuris were so close to exactly how we theorized for so many years. also I love his hair its exactly what I imagined it looked like and even similar to how I sometimes modded him in some playthroughs. crazy to see it was so close to canon hehe 🥰
This isn’t a spoiler if you know the lore???
I'm guessing the young Solas with hair part is the spoiler
No, the spoiler is the confirmation that Ghil was responsible for creating the blight 😮
So curious about how that scene would have gone if Rook picked the other option. 👀
I guess that he would have tried and failedbtomcure her and then the rest of the scene wouldnunfold the same as the other
i LOOOOOVE his hair! I just wish it was darker. for some reason. just a personal preference. But i love his hair cut
Oh my God, I love his hair. It’s like taking a look at pictures of your parents back in the day and how crazy their hair was and they regret it so much. ❤😂
I get goosebumps seeing new Solas content. Its like seeing that special person from 10 years ago that you never stopped thinking about.
I was never attracted to the egg.... but the mullet is hot.
I guess this confirms what i long suspected. The evanuris were behind the blight and darkspawn
The HAIR! 😂 I always thought Solas might have auburn hair. This is so hilarious and I LOVE it
I can't understand at all how can anyone perceive Solas as anything but a 100% benelovent true god.
YES! Ive always wondered why people cant see that he is just some guy trying to do good.
"I'll treasure the chance to be wrong once again, my friend...now mod this god damn hair off of my head".
I've seen the devs say that elves who live past a thousand years go bald. Frankly, that just seems silly.
I love the idea that when Solas awoke his hair was so long he just decided screw it and shaved it off
he lost his hair due to his old age
So that was Solas with hair. Not gonna lie I kinda like it.
I think I'll be calling Solas balled Elron from now on🤙
I love Solas in all looks. I'm kinda disappointed they aren't speaking full Elvhen in these memories. It would've bbeen a cool detail, then you could ask Solas or other spirits about it and decide whether or not to believe and possibly unlock dialouges, scene, etc.
Aww, let him have his hair! As Solas himself said, “we were all young once.” And who didn’t make some questionable hair decisions in their youth? XD
Who knows 😂 maybe he peed out magic too 😂
I saw a small fraction of that scene yesterday in a preview. It felt like coming across a picture of a loved one in their teens or early twens, when they were still trying to look extra cool. 😅 I just love the difference in style between an older perhaps more sophisticated Solas and his young rebel-wolf self. And great video btw. I can't wait to see more of his memories!
Whether you like it or not, what’s the point in modding out visual storytelling? Young solas had an ugly haircut in flashbacks. Sounds relatable to me
The wolf howl sounds in the background are really cool. Love it
Oh god, Ghil's VA reminds me of my old chemcial engineering professor. Not the characterization direction i was expecting tbh, but boy did that give me some flashbacks.
So- if you choose the other option- does it impact the present?
With all the new lore about elves, I'm super curious to know if the Maker is an elf as well, considering the Golden City seems to have belonged to them all along. The whole Andrastian religion would probably fall apart if the masses knew...
Not to dissimilar from what would happen if today's modern religions were able to find out the truth (as in what really happened) behind the bible and creation. People romanticize and deitize God to be worshipped. I see God as nothing but a creator
Most likely no maker exists
Ahhh! Thank you for the tasty video Kala
Sera is right. His head cramped up thousand years ago
i tried not to spoil myself too much for the full scene so i skipped some parts of it, wanna experience it fully once the game is out. tbh this was okay spoiler wise worst spoiler was the in the prologue that someone played without any cuts and THAT SCENE happened, i wasnt ready 😥 i loudly gasped! Im a Bald Solas fan too, but idk i kinda dig it, and am so happy we get to experience some of his back story
Well, they had to let THAT scene happen because they have to show all aspects of him, I suppose....
@@ICityCatI they can never make me hate him 😂
@@SaraPopovic neither can they make me, but they can make others 😅
k so this seems to imply that ghila"nain created the blight..... meaning the tevinter mages were most likely tainted by the elven gods in the fade and not the maker
Any memory you can share I would be so happy! I love that this create more questions, I can't wait to play the game. I imagine there is a Horror of Hormak situation
My first thought when I saw Solas with hair was, “Ohhh, Kala’s not going to like this…”
Coming back because I had a thought: What if the agent whose POV we are in when viewing these memories is Felassan?
(I am delusional and begging, but plllleeeeeease BioWare.)
The hair is dope. My question from seeing that memory is did Ghilan’nain create the Blight, or did she simply use it?
came here after someone already spoiled entire group in FB without any hiding the pic and took picture of solas' memory and the hair and it honestly annoyed me so I felt like I might as well watch this video now.
Don’t worry, I can handle spoilers.
Nice to see and hear Ghilan’nain.
THE HYPE KEEPS GROWING I CANT WAIT ❤
I think I would prefer a braided hair or something, he looks so unnatural 😂 I think it's pretty obvious now that it was indeed Evanuris who created the blight sheesh
Also i don't understand why they aren't speaking in elven here ? If this was thousands and thousands of years ago, they should be speaking in elven and we should be reading subtitles
It works like that one mission where you enter the Geth concise. The Memory translates into “English.” For your comprehension
Don't want to know. 🙈 Saved to watch later. Love the thumbnail tho🥰🐺🥚💜
Solas with jrock hair is weird to me it doesn't look right, also really nice to see gil pre assension and pre taint.
Solas doing a skrilix cosplay
Like I said, the fanart was right
I really like the long hair, I just wish it was a bit darker in color. I’m keeping my head canon all his hair is gone from stress
Fun fact elves loose their hair around turning a millennium old
Why is Solas the only bald elf we see?
@@bunniewood all the guardians in the temple of mythology are too, they just have hoods
@@bunniewood I think the keeper in Origins is bald too
Conversations with Lucanis would be nice!
I had a feeling we would learn the true origins of the Blight here, and I wasn't disappointed.
I'M SO READY TO WATCHHHH
Ghilan'nain's mask is so goofy. Over on Tumblr I said it made me think of all the mask that they wear in Orlais. I just laugh ever time I see.
It's strange that Rook can influence the memories... Or is it only about their perception of Solas? I'm confused
I'd like a memory of Solas and Mythal, especially how she was killed 😊 Thank you, Karla
I would love that. I want to see what she actually looked like
Well we know DA is back.
I was never fond of Sera, but ngl that I would like to hear her comment about Solas with hair if she was there
I like his young haircut, fits his attitude back then, damn can’t wait
Damn, the bald elf had a really cool hairstyle. Can I pick that one for Rook? I was wondering how the devs would coax sympathy for Solus out of us players. Now I know. We, as Rook, will witness the footsteps of the Wolf. The journey he made. I have a feeling it will be hard for me to hate him afterwards.
I like how he look with hair.
Solas with hair generally scares me, but he also looks great with that haircut
