Love the A6 but it's a shame they couldn't find more colorful markings.

7:41 The decals seem to be suffering from the classic Trumpeter spelling errors.... For example decal no 31 says "Kalkray"

Yes. Keep your feet on the kalkray.

Expect "OHN F. KENNEDY" next when they release an A-6E ;)

The clear part seamline on each side is probably because they decided to split the upper mold in 3 parts instead of 2 like other canopies.

I bought one when it first came out thinking it should be good because of their other kits in 1/48th and 1/32nd but the fact they screwed up with the missing forward gear doors means it now needs a fair bit of work to fix it, unless you are doing an in flight model. To me that makes the Fujimi kit more attractive to me. The slide mould mark on the canopy they obviously were trying to get a much finer line but got it a bit wrong and it's not going to be the easiest thing to clean up.

Am I missing something? I saw nose gear doors being fitted in stage 11 of the instructions.

@@Andy.Gledhill.Models. not the nose gear doors, the main gear forward bay doors. They have completely missed them and instead just molded them closed, though with no panel lines, like they just weren't there. The prototype A-6 had the bay doors closed once the gear was down, but that's obviously not so with production aircraft.

@@DarrellThompson47 I have looked at a few pics online, and some show the front doors closed, and some open. Strange.

@kittyhawk9707 where did I say that? All I was saying is that it's poor of Trumpeter. I've done plenty of kits where I've improved and modified them, it's just a shame when a manufacturer gets something basic like this wrong, especially when they have already got it right in other scales. I'll be cutting out the plastic, scratch building the bays, doors and actuators but if you want to build it how it is then go ahead if the thought of doing that stresses you out but it doesn't stress me, just means extra time on the kit.

Always been a fan of the A-6. Also the A-4. I feel like we retire aircraft too soon. I get that fatigue and flight time will ultimately retire an aircraft. However many A-6s were in the process of getting new wings etc when they were retired. I just dont see this drive for gen 4.5 gen 5 and even gen 6 fighters, and nothing else. From what ive seen of Russias abilities to fight, I fully believe our military of 30+ years ago could take on any "modern" military of today. I suspect its similar with China. I doubt they have the ability to wage a fight without huge loses. Then N. Korea well ....😂. So I just dont understand the constant waste of tax payers money on stuff we dont even need. Maybe im just old school and a grumpy old man of 41 now. Still say they should have a few squadrons of A-6's still.
