    One of my favourite aircraft! So versatile . . .
    Is the ‘ding’ on landing to indicate the mains have touched down?

    • @Tuglife912
      @Tuglife912 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @B P it's the Radar Altimeter that talks to them as its landing to give them distance to the ground. When you switch it off it makes that beep. If you heard the "50" before that, it was the computer voice telling them they where 50 feet off the runway.

    • @b.p.7153
      @b.p.7153 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Tuglife912 Of course! Any RAD ALT that I have heard (including my own aircraft) verbalizes the 50, 40 . . . down to 10, so I did not even think of that.
      Thanks, and take care. 👍

    What this chime tone mean at 02:10 ?

    • @rcairflr
      @rcairflr 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hard to tell exactly what that was indicating. That is called a "single chime". When an Advisory cAS message is posted, the single chime is sounded to alert the crew. So very hard to tell exactly what caused the single chime to sound without being in the cockpit

    just love these huge engine throttles
    Remarkable though that they have military pilots with less than 100% vision. You clearly see the co-pilot is wearing glasses! 1:48 This should not be the case since it is a handicap for flying. When I tested for military flying, it was a no-go if you even had the smallest issue with your eyes.
    Here is another pilot with glasses by the way: 5:14 Unbelievable.

      As far as I know you can't pilot fighters unless you have perfect acuity. This isn't a F15; It's a C17; *C* is for transport.
      It might be more of a comfort thing, I can see pretty well but I can't read small letters from far away.
      Reading small letters from far away is not a required skill to read instruments sitting 3' away from your eyes.

      As long as you can see well with glasses, contact lenses, or lasik eye surgery, and show a willingness to learn how to fly, then you can fly.
