Not gonna lie, I was immediately reminded of Maple Story with these visuals, and I love it. Will definitely pick this up when the full release comes.

Finally I can watch Beelz again, been really wary of Hades 2 spoilers cuz I wanted to play blind so I haven't watched any videos in the past weeks

This is so charming! Also, as someone who just started disgaea 5 in my every-few-years attempt at playing through the whole series (Now with 7!!), I also got major Disgaea vibes

The game looks great, IMO, something I would play. I really like "becoming" the boss, and finding stronger versions of the same monster.
I think... the 3 areas of improvement are:
The pixel art could involve more states, like... some creatures when jumping and moving forward will play their walk animation (kobolds), instead of a jump. Also, some animations could be cleaned up to have a frame or 2 of poses that would make the motions feel a lot smoother and better to do.
Mechanics, while it's probably against the intended design of the game, it'd be cool to be able to "bookmark" a monster you were in the run or a previous run. Basically, you'd have a version to turn into, where even if the mana reached zero, it wouldn't be lost. So, that monster would need some mana regen when not being used.
27:37 if the scrolls/items despawn, they should never despawn. It feels bad. Also, for bodies despawning they need some visual FX to show it's going to despawn soon.

this should be a pretty fun idea and help make things interesting enough to enjoy.
The skeles look like they just reacting like a second after blocking so they trying to be as sword and board as possible, pretty smart actually cause it heavily punishes button mashers lol. The enemy reaction in general is odd though, like it feels like soon as they attacking, they just won't stagger, otherwise they will? Oh well, it something would have to experience to understand if that's really the case.
I feel like the extra transformation slot is really important to get first, like saving the higher tier transformation for boss fight and using the other slot for regular rooms
Definitely a strategy that would help a lot. Or saving a utility character like a bird so I can fly to secret spots

Sounds better than skull, skull is hell of dificult even in easy mode

I noticed it said recharge mp of all stock on the item in the shop, so you must be able to eventually carry multiple forms you have absorbed. This game looks awesome. Really well done to the dev. Hope it makes it to console
One of the talent tree upgrades mentions getting a second transform I can store. I just have to get to tier 2 on that row to unlock it. Seems the meta progression will shake up combat a lot. From more corpses I can swallow, better MP control for longer use, more attacks for slime form, more slots for items, and then all the normal stuff (dmg, hp, revive etc).
@@Beelz55 awww yeah buddy! That sounds awesome. I really like the body swap mechanic and the mini bosses being able to be used then stored once you can hold two and then brought out during bigger more perilous encounters. Makes for some really interesting run plans without even factoring in itemization and upgrades. And the relic combiner? Oh man I love it!

@@SocietyFilth I played through Disgaea from start to finish, getting a Laharl in the range of level 30k with a fully leveled Yoshitsuna and a few Robo Suits on Discord a year and a half ago while I was recovering from being sick. Haven't played makai Kingdom since like 2007 lmao. You just don't forget those games very easily.
I never played any Disgaea game after 2 though. By then I was stuck in PC gaming and never bothered with new consoles so I missed out. But now they're mostly all available on PC so who knows. Hard to do YT content for games like that though, they're VERY niche. I will say though that Disgaea 1 is my favourite, I liked 2, it played better in a lot of ways but the plot and characters weren't as memorable.
Makai Kingdom if I remember was easier fundamentally, but a lot of fun. Phantom Brave is another I never actually beat when I was a kid. The whole ''summoning characters via rocks'' thing didn't click with me.

Wow, you hardcored Disgaea 1 I hear. Hahah I played the first game but I think I missed out on some of the alternative storyplots due to, well lack of knowledge and care at the time. Played alot of Disgaea 2 though and yes, while 1 is more memorable I had a blast with the second game. There are some cool anime hero stuff in it and I do feel for Adell.

Makai Kingdom and Phantom Brave had a coziness to them which is fairly unrivaled.

@@SocietyFilth No VOD sadly, it was just me screen sharing while hanging out in VC. I was recovering from being sick and just chatting to whoever wanted to hang out. I might do a new playthrough one day. But yeah... I doubt my Twitch audience (much less YT audience) would be up for all the grinding.
