2/9/21 .... I absolutely love, love, love Kiera Knightly & Matthew Macfadyen in Pride & Prejudice. I can't even wager how many times I've watched it. The scenery, the costumes & most of all, the soundtrack was outstanding.
The proposal scene of Pride And Prejudice would have been on my no. one spot too. The sheer endless walk of Darcy towards Elizabeth, his insecure speech and the sun rise - can it get any more romantic?
The final scene, when they are married, sitting on the parapet of Pemberly, is also one of the most romantic scenes in a movie…sadly, it is often cut when the film is shown on regular tv 🙁

Me too, I love how he stumbles on his words, and does that blinking thing. Plus he looks all tired and snuggly in the morning light. I used to always say I liked the 1995 miniseries better, but 2005 has definitely grown on me, mostly because of Matthew MacFadyen, yum. ;)
I'm so glad its #1 on this list because it is DEFINITELY #1 in my heart! This is my very favorite, and best acted IMHO, adaptation of this wonderful novel. Matthew MacFadyen's Mr. Darcy is the BEST - I haven't seen anyone better. :)
As well as Love Actually 😍 I'm so happy Pride and prejudice is No. 1, but I'm a little disappointed about the placing of Love Actually and Emma. They should be higher.
I would’ve added the proposal from the end of “Crazy Rich Asians.” It’s a little cliche that it happens on an airplane, but when he shows her the emerald ring to reveal that she had the mother’s approval too was cool, and Coldplay’s “Yellow” in Mandarin playing in the background was awesome.
Pride and Prejudice sealed the deal for me, for all time, it never fails to bring tears to my eyes! What woman wouldn't be impressed seeing a man walking out of the fog dressed in a white shirt, black pants, and a long swinging coat with the swagger of a true gentleman? I think I would have swooned first, then kissed him later, lol.

I have to say, Jamie's proposal in "Love, Actually" is probably my favorite of all of these. It's so sincere, but also pretty awkward, and yet it's also a grand gesture. After seeing their unexpected love bloom over the course of the movie, they are the couple I root for the most, and it's so rewarding to see them reunite and get engaged at the end.

My favourite proposal scene is probably the one from Runaway Bride when Maggie proposes to Ike not just once but twice at the end of the movie. It is truly an empowering proposal for she has finally learned not just that she wants to be married or who the right guy is and that he understands who she really is, but she finally understands who she is and is able to come to him knowing that their relationship is truly two people who know and understand each other as they really are and are choosing to spend their lives together. Not only that, but the final proposal is probably the most honest and realistic proposal that cinema has shown, and for that reason and because they are both saying yes with their eyes fully open, their marriage, and not just their wedding, is much more likely to be happy one but a lasting one.
Crazy Rich Asians and Mamma Mia should've at least made honorable mentions. I get chills every time the emerald ring is revealed in CRA and the whimsicalness of the proposal and immediate wedding in Mamma Mia is great.
The New Year's Eve Speech from "When Harry Met Sally". "When you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody. you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible."

Pride and Prejudice is one of my favorite novels and favorite films and I only JUST (because of this video) realized that in this film at least, he walks all the way to her house to propose. "Why didn't he take a carriage or go on horseback? It's quicker." It's because, as Darcy knows, Elizabeth is "very fond of walking." If he's gonna propose to the woman he loves, he's going to go about doing it in a way that exemplifies HER. The proposal is different in the novel, but I appreciate this narrative callback in the 2005 film.

Pride and Prejudice is the most romantic movie of all times and the protagonists don't have a kissing scene in the whole movie (unless you watch the extended finale), is the most beautiful love story ever, I can watch it or read it a thounsand times and I would start reading it again the next week
Well... to tell the truth, I can't agree with you: I think that the first place should have been occupied by Rhett Buttler's proposal to Scarlett O'Hara. It's simply legendary! During the kiss scene it's notable that although Scarlett doesn't want to admit it, Rhett is the only one she truly loves. That's part of what makes it charming. Sadly, being "the same sort", the two were bound to divorce. Not to mention the fact that Clark Gable's performance was truly astounding. All in all, their love story is an icon of 30's cinema!
