I get really excited when you post videos here because you keep it real. You don’t edit out the f*ckups, like some other prop makers, and that makes it even more entertaining to watch you work. You’re easy to follow along with if I wantes to make a prop, and I love that. Some people make a montage of annoying music and I have no clue how to do certain things. Those props end up bing scrapped due to frustration. I love your prop choices and your craftsmanship, Odin, and keep it up!
Experiment 13 look up Franklin Mint, they issued a tri di chess set in the 90,s I got mine then, they sometimes appear on eBay and occaisionaly re issue the sets as its TNG 30th anniversary it may be a good time
They did! It was a combination of Space Checkers, and Space Tic Tac Toe board games. Both of the original board games can be seen in the Rec Room throughout the original series. They used the Tic Tac Toe boards for the 3 main boards, and Space Checkers were used as the attack boards!
AWESOME. Simply awesome, Odin. The details are slick and the end result is truthful to the original prop! I was a bit concerned about the acrylic parts but you did an excellent working with those materials. Add to this an excellent build process and you have another good prop the man itself: Odin. Keep it up!
this is brilliant, I love this. both my dad and I are trekkies and I know for a fact he would love this as a display piece for his shelf. if I ever get the materials, this would make an amazing fathers day present
I am a huge Trekkie, and i watched your video of the 3d chess from Star Trek. Now it makes me want one! Good work on building it! It looks so authentic, that it looks like like it actually came from the show!
Love Star Trek (the originals that is) and this Tri chess board is awesome. video saved, planes sourced and printed ready to make the piece, only a little smaller. Thanks Odin great work.
Odin makes....my literal FAVORITE TH-cam CHANNEL EVER I love the quote "AND THIS.....IS HOW ODIN MAKES!" Althought i can never say it as good as the great odin w
Okay I had a good giggle when I saw the starfleet manual come out. Only because I have that as well. And never thought about making that chess set. But you did a stunning job.
When you thread, go one full rotation and go a half rotation back. When you go back you cut the material and it comes out. when you feel high force, go back half a rotation or you snap the bit (sorry for my english, im foreign)
being so prone to scraching, i would like to see you make a box/case for this. Maybe stepping out of props themselves and just making whatever might be nice
Hey, Odin, here's a tough one: a functional Heavy Duty Super Colliding Super Button from Portal, scaled down, that plugs into a USB port, has a port of its own, and allows power through when an iPhone-like weight is on it.
When I tap it's a turn a little, back off a little. Don't keep turning the tap until it snaps. Back and forth as you gradually add more tap will give you the cleanest results without snapping your bit.
Yeah - just about every "Creation Convention" that graced the SF-Oakland-San Jose-Sac-Folsom area (not to mention the Creation Fangoria horror Cons we did in LA) ;-)
all these woodworking and making videos i watch, and i still don't grasp the function of a step bit. i also did not know how 3d chess was played (the small boards move?)
2:00 Ah....my favourite Odin returns! :D (JK) This looks absolutely stunning....such simple materials become something so amazing! All I want to ask is.... where exactly do you come up with these ideas?! Do you just wake up in a cold sweat in the dead of night muttering gibberish and think "3D chess! I'm going to make a 3D Chess set!!!!"
I notices that when tapping you just kept turning the tapping wrench which is why it broke. If you turn it 180 degrees forward 90 degrees backwards then the tap shouldn't loose its thread
do you (Odin) think it would be possible to make a complete set of armor out of plastics or metals (it can be any armor from anywhere heck even your own original)
"So I did the sensible thing, and hit it with a hammer"
- Odin 2017
I need that on a shirt.
A much smarter soul that me once said "if you can't fix it by whacking it with a hammer, your problem is electrical"
There's no tool quite like the hammer, is there?
This would be the best senior quote 😂
This explains a lot about Thor Odinson

Thank you! WOW.
Odin Makes make omnitrix from ben 10 thnx
Now I want a Three Dimensional Chess set... *adds to seemingly endless list of projects...*
My list of projects keeps growing.... as does my list of unfinished ones lol
Me too!
Not even being a giant Star Trek fan but owning and learning how to play 3d chess would be on my nerdy dreams bucket list. Its so cool!!!
Experiment 13 look up Franklin Mint, they issued a tri di chess set in the 90,s I got mine then, they sometimes appear on eBay and occaisionaly re issue the sets as its TNG 30th anniversary it may be a good time
There are about 10 of them on Amazon right now. Kind of pricey at $250 though.
I have gone back and watched all of the videos you have made now. And I found your personal channel. Everything just fascinate me. Thank you.
Wow, Thank you! And you are welcome.
I've got the fleet manual too! I heard that in the 60s they made it out of a "space checkers" board game.
They did! It was a combination of Space Checkers, and Space Tic Tac Toe board games. Both of the original board games can be seen in the Rec Room throughout the original series.

So cool! Hey if you're ever in upstate NY, they have an amazing screen accurate walk through of the TOS set in Ticonderoga!
Hey Jake! What you making?
Great video! I'm going to use this as inspiration to make a wooden one for my son on his 9th birthday.
And this is how Odin makes awesome props! Great job sir.
"So I did the sensible thing, and hit it with a hammer." 😂

That part got me dying...
Great job, Odin! It looks awesome!

Totally awesome, hope to make my own eventually!
I am a huge Trekkie, and i watched your video of the 3d chess from Star Trek. Now it makes me want one! Good work on building it! It looks so authentic, that it looks like like it actually came from the show!
As a life long Trek-head, that is a thing of beauty Odin!
Beautiful piece, very interesting build to watch.
This was a fun build to watch. Thank you.
Love Star Trek (the originals that is) and this Tri chess board is awesome. video saved, planes sourced and printed ready to make the piece, only a little smaller. Thanks Odin great work.
That is awesome! I have a disabled friend who loves Trek. I might "try" to make this for him.
Thanks for another great video!
really nice piece. this is the kind of prop you could have in the living room as a focal point :)
The chess pieces themselves are actually collector's items they used the 1961 PETER GANINE pieces, which are unique and now hard to find.
I love it !! It came out amazing!
Every time you post a video, I get inspired to build something. You're awesome!
Dude! This is awesome. My favorite video from you to date.
Odin makes....my literal FAVORITE TH-cam CHANNEL EVER
I love the quote
"AND THIS.....IS HOW ODIN MAKES!"
Althought i can never say it as good as the great odin w
HECK YEAHHH !!! love this project ... thank you
That is a beautiful build!
For taps we were taught 3/4 turn forward, 1/2 turn back, repeat as need and always use tons of cutting oil
excellent workmanship
Fantastic episode!! Do stuff like this more often!
love this build, now all you need is an original series tricorder and type 2 phaser to go with it...
Agreed.
Love it. Well done man!
Wow u r an Artist! Well done!!
Okay I had a good giggle when I saw the starfleet manual come out. Only because I have that as well. And never thought about making that chess set. But you did a stunning job.
Brilliantly done!
You should already have 1 million subs cause wtf? your builds are just awesome
Great build!
Holy cow, this is so high quality!

LMBO! "Dammit, knew I was gonna do that"! Outta my mouth you took the words!
Ohhh wow! Beautiful
I might have to try and make one of these for my dad
When you thread, go one full rotation and go a half rotation back. When you go back you cut the material and it comes out. when you feel high force, go back half a rotation or you snap the bit (sorry for my english, im foreign)
Incredible job
Fantastic work! Nice job.
Thank you!
Awesome work, Odin! Been looking forward to seeing this one. :)
You bet!
being so prone to scraching, i would like to see you make a box/case for this. Maybe stepping out of props themselves and just making whatever might be nice
my roommate would LOVE this. I work in an art studio, but we dont have metal or wood working material/tools or I would make one myself.
I once tried to make this from the same Star Trek Technical Manual. It look like those nailed it memes. I love your though.
Wow Odin this is awesome!
THAT IS SO AWESOME
That right there is beautiful!!!
Very well done, as always
"It must be humbling to suck on so many different levels." Get it!
I do XD
Halloween is right around the corner. What about a Plague Doctor mask?
HA! I love that you leave in the Bloopers Cracks me up every time!
Hey, Odin, here's a tough one: a functional Heavy Duty Super Colliding Super Button from Portal, scaled down, that plugs into a USB port, has a port of its own, and allows power through when an iPhone-like weight is on it.

Awesome work Odin! Next one please a X-Wing Helmet

Thats so cool.... great job
I love the props you make. you have a talent do you do anything else from star wars other then light sabers and Hans blaster??
This is amazing 👍👍
This is awesome.
Simply Awesome !!
Ron!! Well hello there. How many Star Trek conventions did we go to back in the 80s? Something like, most of them, right?
Hello!
Yeah - just about every "Creation Convention" that graced the SF-Oakland-San Jose-Sac-Folsom area (not to mention the Creation Fangoria horror Cons we did in LA) ;-)
Best so far, keep it up Odin C:
INCREDIBLE
really cool, keep up the work
all these woodworking and making videos i watch, and i still don't grasp the function of a step bit. i also did not know how 3d chess was played (the small boards move?)
Reminds me of tbbt (the big bang theory) when leonard and sheldon cooper are playing tri-dementional chess
You should make a collection of all of the GOW weapons!!
Hitting things with a hammer, this is indeed how Odin makes!
So AWESOME !! :D
an amazing build .
could you build a bazookoid from Red dwarf?
2:00 Ah....my favourite Odin returns! :D (JK)
This looks absolutely stunning....such simple materials become something so amazing!
All I want to ask is.... where exactly do you come up with these ideas?!
Do you just wake up in a cold sweat in the dead of night muttering gibberish and think "3D chess! I'm going to make a 3D Chess set!!!!"
Well, that happened this time...
I woke up and ran around, kinda like the Butter Side Down guy.
His videos are awesome.
Love it!
Well.. yknow... cause the track is always *lit*👌
THAT is awesome!
Any chance of there being a Geordi's VISOR tutorial before 2017 is up, I'd like to see how you make it.
I've never heard Odin cuss so much... I love it
Wow that's actually incredibly sleek
First video i see from your channel and im like WOW
Can you make the Next Generation one? From clear acrylic
I notices that when tapping you just kept turning the tapping wrench which is why it broke. If you turn it 180 degrees forward 90 degrees backwards then the tap shouldn't loose its thread
I love that prop, I should get one for my Halloween party this year.. it's Star Trek themed!
RionE23 Star Trek themed Halloween party, from the person with the Stargate as their picture! :)
as always you did something awesome
Thank you!
i would love to see , Odin making the Plasma Cutter from Dead space , with the rotation 90º
awsome I need this !
You can use a wood cutting blade on aluminum just treat it like a harder wood
need some decent cutting oil on that tap for threading remember one turn half turn back .
I gotta play this
do you (Odin) think it would be possible to make a complete set of armor out of plastics or metals
(it can be any armor from anywhere heck even your own original)
It's very possible. Look at Storm trooper armor, for instance. It's all plastic.
Wat glue do you yous acrylic plastic
Love your vids
I have the softcover reprint of that technical manual
I have read that thing a few times...
So have I. Along with the TNG and Deep Space 9 tech manuals.
Awesome!!
Hey odin could you make the Tesla gun from Warehouse 13 also make a Farnsworth from the same show. Love the show going to try some of them soon.
Yes, do that.
In case your interested, William Jakespeare has some tutorials on that.
Yea that would be a really cool project I even forgot about it
The Farnsworth as a cell cover would be cool.
Yeah, that'd be awesome!
