As with just about every song Jimi ever played live, there isn't any two versions of any song the same. He was constantly exploring and experimenting even with established songs and structures. His playing intensity in this cut of "Red House" lifted noticeably about half way through the second verse. I especially love how he doesn't employ any of the theatrics in this: no playing behind the back, no playing with his teeth, he's not even moving much. He's just standing still and playing his ass off!
you should listen to the versions from Randal's Island - th-cam.com/video/2QeNlwQ5x5E/w-d-xo.html or San Diego Sports Arena -th-cam.com/video/Usm_zYKN6Fw/w-d-xo.html both are way way better than this version. Jimi was fed up with the Experience by this time and wasn't really into this show.
Both great versions, there is something I quite like about this version though his voice sounds amazing and still manages to pull off some awesome licks despite seeming so frustrated and fed up, just shows how talented he really was. Seeing/hearing him playing an SG is cool as well
I still love the studio version. It's a masterclass in very subplime blues lead guitar.
Delivering a masterclass in electric blues guitar playing. His control, touch and timing are off the charts.
You’re a great guitarist, enjoyed listening to you jam out.

The San Diego Sports Arena version from "In The West" is the best version, hands down.
fucking sweet.
