Geometry on Khan Academy: We are surrounded by space. And that space contains lots of things. And these things have shapes. In geometry we are concerned with the nature of these shapes, how we define them, and what they teach us about the world at large--from math to architecture to biology to astronomy (and everything in between). Learning geometry is about more than just taking your medicine ("It's good for you!"), it's at the core of everything that exists--including you. Having said all that, some of the specific topics we'll cover include angles, intersecting lines, right triangles, perimeter, area, volume, circles, triangles, quadrilaterals, analytic geometry, and geometric constructions. Wow. That's a lot. To summarize: it's difficult to imagine any area of math that is more widely used than geometry.
About Khan Academy: Khan Academy offers practice exercises, instructional videos, and a personalized learning dashboard that empower learners to study at their own pace in and outside of the classroom. We tackle math, science, computer programming, history, art history, economics, and more. Our math missions guide learners from kindergarten to calculus using state-of-the-art, adaptive technology that identifies strengths and learning gaps. We've also partnered with institutions like NASA, The Museum of Modern Art, The California Academy of Sciences, and MIT to offer specialized content.

Hope this helped 😊
it did
Thanks bro

This dude isn't annoying or meandering at all. Truly refreshing, thank you.
Thank you so much. The rest of the videos I've watched have people who have the worst voices ever, I'm glad you teach very well and don't talk like we are idiots.. Thanks again!
XD true :P
Your videos helped me so much i passed my math class because of your videos
Thanks for explaining this to me, I'm preparing for grade 8 math so this was a big help!
Same
Me too dear
All that to get one answer maths is so fustrating
You can shorten the method at your will. Sal is just taking you through the process of thought that you should use to get to your anwser.
I'm in 7th grade and this helps so much for my class bc everything my teacher says is over my head
My teacher doesnt even teach us the math
my teacher just writes the problem down and then takes a second, looks at the answer, and says well that was easy lets try another one. He doesnt even talk most of the time he just writes the problem and answer down
Its amazing how your now in grade 10 :) im in grade 7 now
Today is going to be pre much watching massive amounts of khan videos because I need to get a 74 on my final exam to pass my math 9 course this friday!!!!
For the surface area I think this would be easier:
2pi(radius) (radius + height)
=2pi (4) (4+8) [use calculator]
=96pi
:)
I got none of that......
Nice video!!!!
I love your other videos!!!!!
Same. I had to do this for homework and I just used the formula for volume and got the right answer.
@@katies9468 well the point is to understand where the formula is derived from sal basically takes you through the thought process, its better to understand this way so its easier to recollect the formula if you ever need it later in life
I love how school ruin your grades by forcing you to learn about stuff you will never use a single Tim in your 80 years of living
fractions are used for cooking, almost every form of math is used for taxes, to build a house you need to use math to figure out how much space you need for your belonging, and science will be used for physics for college if you want to get out of it, reading can be for taxes, bills, etc.
I have milestones tomorrow, this really helped me out thank you so much!
finally ! thank you, I don't know how you did it but you are a genius, my sister finally got it.
This was very helpful and I'm ready for my quiz.
Thank you for such a clear and straightforward explanation
Khan academy got me through grade 10, thank you!

Volume= Pi x radius (squared) x height
This is the best explanation I have found...finally understand. Thank you!!
Thank you so much I passed my test cuz of this
You rock. Ive gotten many A's on my tests by watching your videos
Jonah N. straight As? ;)
@@amuusee I just woke up so I thought you were calling him a rock in the same way you would say, "you idiot!"
@@thescruffinator8830 same except i didnt just wake up lmao-
My teacher asked my class who heard of Khan videos...
I was proudly the only one who raised their hand!
Thank you! It helped alot!
thank you so much! i have a gr9 math exam tomrow and without this i woulda failed it! thans soo much! :D THIS HELPED SO MUCH
i wish i had you as my teacher :)
This video helped me with my gsce math equations.
all of your videos have helped get better grades in my math
Omg I’m a 7th grader taking math 8 and algebra1. Doing my summer homework right now you helped so much!! 🙏🙏
My book says square the radius, multiply by pi, and multiply by the height
this will really help me on my tests
I love your videos it helps my kids so much make more
Khan,
When deriving a cylinder Area/SA equation for a optimisation question, what exactly do you do it with respect to? [ I have to maximise Surface area, given that the volume of the can is 130cm^3; and i have to include the S.A of the top and bottom]
Did you get your answer after 12 years😅
Best teacher ever
i missed a day in school and i needed to catch up and i did with this video thank you so much you are my hero
Such good writing skills! 🤩
Thank you! Quiz studying time!!!!
How do I find radius given perimeter and height????? Why is there no videos on it anywhere
So easy once you get it!!🤗👌
Who is watching this in 2024👇🏼
Awesome thx!
It's really complicated how you unrolled the cylinder and did something with it? ...
Unroll it then find the area. Use the circumference of the circle and hight
he's just showing how you would find the lengths of the middle part of the cylinder. Basically imagine it as a rectangle.
So, basic rule of volume is area of whatever surface area you're dealing with X the "depth"/ "how deep" it goes?
4:44
this helps alot for school
SOOOOOOO Helpful
Guys the formula is "~r2xh" or pi R2 times the height of the cylinder!
thank you... very much.....
Why do you not multiple the 16 by Pi?
Great Video!!!!! HELPED A LOT!
im in a lower grade and my teacher said im high school level awesome thanks khan
Volume = (Area of circle)* height = πr^2h.
Surface Area = 2(area of circle) + (circumference of the circle * height of the cylinder) = 2πr^2 + 2πrh = 2πr (r + h).
That was so helpful,thx sal
I like the around of the celiendar

trying to earn my ged so thank you for helping me.
Khan academy you're suppose to help us not confuse us! I'm sorry I'm just really confused...
+Kimberly Michelle (K.M) What specific part are you confused about? Hard to help when you don't specify and saying "all of it" definitely won't help.
Then ur stupid
how is this topic hard? this is toddler level math....spaz
sorry, Kimberly, that some people are rude, disrespectful and need to grow up. you are much better than they.
this is easy though he can't explain it any other way
The inner and outer radii a cylindrical pipe are 4 and 5 cm respectively.find the area of the cross sections of the pipe.
Best explained..👍👍👍👌
Thanks for this, it really helped!
what if that cylinder is divided into three different circular partitions (three compartments). how do you find the dimensions of the tank that correspond to the tank of minimal weight. This is a calculus problem. thanks.
hey, if u do a cone. is it true that all cones are 1/3 the volume of a cylinder that they perfectly fit?
What computer software is this? What is this called? Thanks. These geometry vids are really helping me out for my quiz
Always one person to admire
I believe the circumference should be the length that we need to calculate the area of the cut rectangle. 8 pie should be the circumference based on the standard equation.
🤓
this is very smart..
Very nice.
especially on my test of surface area
I don't need to learn it now.... I understood! ;)
god bless your soul
God bless you too :
THANK YOU SO MUCH
Thanks.☺☺☺
what is the different between area , total surface area and surface area?
amazing video
I love this
How to find the radius in cylindrical if the given is volume and lateral or surface area?
U should use the scissors to cut the dotted line
Surface Area Forumla is 2πrh+2πr2 and the volume forumla is πr2h
This man studies the entire English language on the way to the point.
he's just trying to cover it in as many ways as possible so that everyone watching gets it, no matter how their mind processes the information
@@Ewumm it takes maybe 1 minute to explain these things.
@@V4lorLol if they were to explain it in one way, the way that you understand it. but for a large audience, you need to be a bit more vast with your explanations
i love KHAN ACADEMY
What program does he use?
These videos are so helpful and make math so much fun I just wanted to find this channel to subscribe. :o
visto desde Nicaragua thanks
2 times pi times radius square + 2 times pi times radius square times height square.
Thanks
thank u sooo much
Really good at drawing lol
What's the equation of the surface area of the cylinder?
can someone please write a summary for me right now about this whole video, thanks much appreciated.
The formulas are
V=πXr²XH
You cannot make the example with diameter if it is with diameter you should divide it by 2 to get half the number then multiple by same number you have
which software does he use to draw the examples
He gave the volume to you, JUSTIN!!
Cool math
You're great!!! but i'm confused yayayayay
Thanks , excellent explanation khan bhai Well Please help me to find out of volume in partially filled tank.
