Thanks bro! Just got the camera from my uncle and was nearly damaged and it hardly had any accessories. Bringing it back to life feels great and watching your video helped me understand more about the camera.
Thanks so much Gus I find your tutorials invaluable, clear, concise, and informative. I'm a little behind the times so have just bought my canon XA 11 and already I'm liking it a lot. Do you have any interview set ups demonstrated, if so I would be interested in seeing some examples of that.
I really take advantage of the soft start and stop function as I find these cameras have such a fast zoom even on its slowest settings. I find the rocker set normal with variable and the start stop function on works best for me. Having these functions turned off makes it feel very dadcam
Question: My zoom rocker on the handle doesn't seem to be working nor the record/stop button. My AV guy at church assembled the handle, so I'm learning how to use the camera on my own. Do I have to set up the zoom rocker on the handle manually?
Hi I have the Canon XA11. I had the Visual HF G10 upgraded to the 11. My problem is my video files that I used to film on old camera were usually always 2gb and in the XA11 the same time video comes out as 9.55gb. Which setting do I need to change?
Use the zoom at telephoto range (the tightest focal range or highest zoom you can) and widest aperture (from 1.8 to 2.8 according to the zoom you are using, set on manual or AV).
Awful zoom rockers on the Canon XA and HF-G series camcorders though. I have an HF-G30 and it's very difficult to a achieve a controlled zoom in variable speed mode. Plus you tend to pick up the tapping of the rattly rocker. Don't know if it's improved, but there are numerous reports of the zoom control switch going bad on earlier models. Better to use a compatible third-party external LANC remote IMHO. Shame Canon don't produce one themselves. I don't think the XA11 even comes with a wireless (IR) remote does it ?
Hey Gus. I don't have time to check out all your videos, but I wanted to comment on this one as being a little different as far as quality (from those I've seen.) Please feel free to remove this comment if you want. I would rather critique privately, but I don't know of a way to do that. You just did a lot of cutting in this particular video that I haven't noticed in the past. For me personally, it would be easier to watch you stumble through some words or whatever it was you were cutting out. But I was sorta getting dizzy because your hands and face would "jump" like after every sentence. I know you're busy, but maybe either let some stuff go, or just do retakes and get the flow better without so much cutting. Ok, so after I critique your video, then I ask a question because I need help. That may not work in my favor, but I can tell you're a good guy. I used my Canon 80D with the kit lens (18-135) to take some stills of the recent blood wolf moon thing or whatever the lunar eclipse was recently. When the moon was full and bright, I could dial in the focus and those shots were good. But when the moon was fully eclipsed, I could not see it well enough to focus on it, and obviously auto focus wasn't going to work. Any pointers on that??
Hi Bill, I appreciate the constructive criticism, and will keep this in mind going forward.👍 as far as shooting the moon, set the focus to manual. I have had success with ISO 800 or less, high aperture between f5-f11, shutter speed between 100-300. Definitely depends on the night and how clear it is. Let me know how it goes. Thanks again!👍

Hi, my zoom rockers on the side keeps zooming out even when I am not touching it. Do u experience the same problem?
Hay mind do the same thing do you finger it out ?
Same here. Have you been able to fix it?
Hey Gus, nice video. Do you have any idea why the camera zoom out byself everytime I zoom in?

Thank you very much for this great video and I have fun with the zoom feature, waiting for more videos mr. gus :)
Very nice video and useful tips make me happy ☺️. God bless you🙏🙏
Great video. Can you change the speed of the zoom depending on how much you press down on the zoom rocker?
yes, if you go to settings, you can definitely change how fast it zooms.
thanks, it helped me

Can you share what's the best mode to have a slight blurred background with this camera..
Use the zoom at telephoto range (the tightest focal range or highest zoom you can) and widest aperture (from 1.8 to 2.8 according to the zoom you are using, set on manual or AV).
My "Handle Rocker Zoom Speek" is highlighted with Grey, it's actually inactive.
How do I activate it?
How is the audio on the camera
For some reason, my zoom sometimes auto zooms out without me touching anything. Is this a setting or is there something wrong with my camera?
Hi were you ever able to figure this out? Having the same issue currently.
I am also having the same issue.
Did you guys figure out the problem going through same issues
How do i lock in digital zoom?
variable is pressure sensitive?
Yes but I find it works best paired with the start stop slow zoom function turned on. Otherwise it's too fast on the take off
Must be a big demand camcorder. Canon has them on backorder. I want one but gona wait for them to have them on stock, dont want to wait to long lol.
hi, When I zoom to an image, only the zoom is returned, how do I fix it?
Hi, I also face the same problem. The side zoom rockers zooms out automatically even when I am not touching it. Could you fix it?
Hi there,i need to know if the canon xa11 supports clean hdmi out...
