"I stand out here alone" damnnnnn that line just reminds me of all the moments I sat alone as my mind flooded with thoughts and problems no one knew about and how depressing sat across from me and asked me the hardest questions. And I was all alone.
I remember when this guy was pumping out album after album.. GOLD after GOLD when no one had even heard of him. I bought tickets to a live show in Notting Hill, London for £12.50 a piece! He had all these strobe tubes around him & his inimitable players. It was a small intimate venue, & many of us were just laying on the floor a mere foot from them. To this day, I haven't matched the experience of being in a room full of hurting connected souls just enjoying music as though it hadn't ever lost its' worth. Upon leaving, I noticed all these packs of tissues lying on the floor! It was a cleansing experience. I'll never forget it. My favourite track Olí performed was *Himininn er að hrynja, en stjörnurnar fara þér vel* which translates to The Sky maybe falling but the Stars look good on you. Other incredible favourites include Fok, Við Vorum Smá, Til Enda, & Brotsjór. Later additions of genius include Endalaus II, Near Light, This Place Was a Shelter, Brim, For Now I Am Winter Feat. Arnor Dan, & the very underrated "Everything Must Change" from the Another Happy Day film score. These are all his most well realised or developed tracks which involves either some Radical form of genre-defiance or a tendency to use a full palette of both acoustic & electronically produced sounds. I didn’t watch first time round ‘cause I thought it was a standard British mystery show. Omg. Not at all. Gorgeous to look at. Heartbreaking. Surprising at every turn. Character driven. Gloriously acted. Perfectly written. Soundtrack is a revelation.
This song almost perfectly describes where I'm at in my life right now. Just before the pandemic, I escaped an abusive situation I had been in for 6 years. I am now stuck on the wrong side of an international border; not having seen my fiance for 11months. I've been actively trying to learn self-care and heal from my past, but even small steps have been difficult. I've been questioning many things about my life and purpose. Connecting with this song is a gift. Thank you.
So happy you got out of the abuse. I know from experience how hard and difficult it can be to take care of yourself, especially after not doing it for so long you completely forget how to do it in the first place. Some habits are incredibly hard to break, just as others are very hard to relearn. The road ahead is, and might always be, full of ups, downs, twists and turns but never forget that steps back are not a failure, and even the tiniest step forward is a success worth celebrating. It took me years to get to such thouhts but it finally happened, even though I need to remind myself of that almost daily. Piecing yourself back together is like a war. It takes time, a lot of energy also mentally, some battles are lost, but you eventually come out stronger on the other end. Know you are loved, you are worthy, and the cracks are simply a sign of how strong you are and how strong you can be. Keep fighting the good fight.

I have complex post-traumatic stress disorder, I'm not sure if I'll ever be happy but this song always 'opens the valve'. It's a specific relief amongst worthlessness. I really like the sirens, the violin is so soothing and trusting, and when Arnor says "We'll run side-by-side" and that unique siren picks up is exactly what I require every, single, time.

سهلة تهون اهم شي الصحة. اني معاناتي هاي ٣٢ سنة من التلعثم ومخلص جامعة وماحصلت تعيين بسبب نقاطي قليلة لازم متزوج واني مفلس ولاحصلت شغلة براسها خير ولا احد يقبل يشغلني يعتبروني معوق!!! اذا عندك وقت اريد شخص يتكلم معاي اذا كنت مهتم واذا لا براحتك عندك دراسة.
