Important NOTE: The O2S transmission gets more oil than an 02J. It's not enough to fill up with oil until it runs out. It must be filled from the top with 2.1-2.2 liters. For example through the gearbox ventilation or a bolt from the shift forks. Otherwise there is not enough oil in the gearbox. Greetings from Germany

Advanced surgery, nicely filmed and explained. I will be more interested in an AT to MT conversion instead. Unfortunately not for the faint of the heart😂. Too many things to go wrong for the under prepared!❤👍
Its awsome, in brazil we are using a gears from a Golf 1.4 with manual transmittion, but its so easier than the convert kit, but the convert kit its very expensive in brazil hahahah

You prefer to deal with 250+ pounds transmission and axles and starter and cables to do this 6 gear ? And also support the engine from one side From Where do you think it can be easier than how i did it ?

I really enjoyed the way you did it, and if it was JUST to add the new gear, your way is primo! Can you still get the kits? I had a look on CascadeGerman and didn't see the kit there, EurotuningCZ had one but didn't look like it had the oil pump mod in it. What I was thinking is if I get another transmission, while it's out I could add the 6th gear on the bench! Still follow your method just not be leaning over the fender to do it.
Good how to video.... But, $1850.00! I just changed the 5th gears to .658. Cost $300.00, took 30min and dropped my rpm by 200 revs. At 60mph the revs are 2000rpm.
Some people will go you way some will want the luxury to go smother from 4th 5th and 6 and not jumping from 4 to 5th brutally 🤷♂️ I have both systems in my 2 cars and I prefer the 6 gear kit all day long 😅
Where are you located? My 02j failed so i bought a parts car and pulled 02j from it. Previous Owner swears it shifted perfect before he wrecked it but now that I swapped it into my car it will not down shift to third or fourth most of the time 1-5 is perfect but 5 down to 4 and 4-3 does not shift it just blocks it No grinding noise just feels like a wall. I don't know what to do at this point. I bought the car and had to put a lot of money and work into it then transmission failed now the one I bought to replace it with doesn't seem like it's good either
I don’t see why not , but cascadegerman.com sells one transmission for a 1.8t gasoline all ready with the 6th gear conversion that will be the closest for gasoline
@taco8v okay, I swapped from 5 speed to 6 speed but my speedo isn't working and the 6 speed isn't plug and play for speedo sensor I'm just wondering how you went about this?
@glynwalton9207 this kit doesn’t remove your original transmission man its the same 5 speed just added an extra gear to make it 6 . You don’t move the speedometer or anything electrical Check the video im not swapping transmission
Bro wouldnt it have been easier to swap this 5 speed gearbox to a 6speed gearbox. And change all the hydrolic lines and just the gearbox mount starter moter and drive shafts. It would of took the same time to do...
You telling me the you can drop all the 5 speed stuff and than change a 6 speed transmission, with all the components like flywheel, clutch pressure plate, starter transmission, 2 cv axles , drop the under túnel and drop the exhaust to put shifter cables and shifter and than put the túnel back and exhaust in 1 hour?
Also TDI 6 speed transmission are expensive here and they are not as close for this ratios Have you noticed the I don’t even dropped the transmission to do this? I only opened from the end lol

You could use bolt cutters to recuse shavings and debris flying into the trans.

@@taco8v With a modded engine (chipped and nozzles) I don't even notice. Actually should have gone taller, like .62. Those only cost $240.00.
I have a .62 and drops 700 rpm and is a big jump from 2500rpm 4th 55mph to 1800rpm at 55mph 5th and all my cars are modified and I feel it .

This isn’t an 02S conversion… this is just using the Eurotuning 6-speed conversion. 02S is a totally different trans.
