I tried using a print button on a form I created but it won't allow a PDF Print because I have the data and code password protected. Is there anyway to protect your form and still allow a PDF Print?

Your solution here is great, however what happens if the form filler doesn't have a pdf distiller or they only have adobe reader?
Is there a way to "code" the SAVE FORM button to flatten the form after it's filled and user has saved the form?

Is there a way to add security to my form but still allow to print to PDF?
Basically I don't want the user to have any way of editing my form (like saving as a word document even) but want them to be able to flatten it and send it back. When I tried adding security to the form it didn't allow printing to PDF.

How to do the same using a Web Service ? I want to flatten the PDF from ASP.NET using Web Service to Adobe LiveCycle ES APIs.

Thanks ! Great tutorial. However, I think it is better to show how you can do the same seamlessly without any prompts, also, how to do the same using Adobe LiveCycle output APIs by developing a simple URL End-Point which can be used to flatten the PDF. Looking forward for this tutorial.

Apparently not...I tested and got the following message when I tried to print a password protected file:
This PostScript file was created from an encrypted PDF file.
Redistilling encrypted PDF is not permitted.
I assume this is by design, and Adobe intentionally does not want encrypted pdf to be "flattened" this way.

This is a problem in reader. There is a way to "lock" fields using javascript, but not to flatten in the way I show here. This method effectively removes all background xml and renders the pdf much like an image. I placed a forum discussion link on this topic in the "about" section above.

Unless you upgrade to LiveCycle Server ES4 and use their HTML5 mobile forms, then no. BYW LiveCycle Server ES4 starts at $100K. :(
